Character Creation Rules

Allowed Books: Players Handbook (I and II), Dungeon Master Guide, Complete Arcane, Complete Warrior, Complete Divine, Complete Adventurer, Complete Scoundrel, Complete Mage, Heroes of Battle. Material from Unearthed Arcana, Stormwrack, Sandstorm, and Frostburn will be considered if necessary.

Ability Scores: 32 point buy.

Races: Any standard race, except for halfling. If you want a variant race it will be purely for flavor, and it must be approved.

Classes: If it's in the allowed books, go for it.

HP: Max roll for the first die, and half+1 for every one thereafter, unless you want to roll.

XP: All players begin with 18,000 xp.

GP: 15,000 gp. No more than 1/3 may be spent on one item. No more than 1/4 may be spent on magical items.

Alignments: PCs will no longer have alignments. I'm choosing to let this come out during roleplaying.

Background: Every character in this campaign will have a background custom made by its player.

Personality: Because everyone's personality is forged from their past experiences, please have your personality be appropriate for whatever life events you have gone through.



Multiclassing: All characters now have "Any" as their favored class.

Spellcasting Classes: All spellcasting classes now have a limit to how many levels you can take in them. Major casting classes (wizard, sorcerer, cleric) are limited on a 1:1 ratio with non-casting classes. So for every level of wizard you need a level of fighter, rogue, etc. For non-major casting classes (bard, ranger, etc.) they are on a 2:1 ratio. So for every two levels of bard, you need one level of something else.

Arcane Spell Failure: Instead of causing the spell to fail, arcane spell failure now doubles the casting time of the spell. If the spell is instant, it becomes a standard action.

Skills: Knowledge(tactics) and Profession(Military Officer)
5 or more ranks in Knowledge(tactics) gives a +2 synergy bonus to Profession(Military Officer)

Feats: Leadership may not be taken; Dodge is a flat +1 AC bonus.

Languages: Any language that does not fit in with the character's background cannot be learned. An additional language (Battle Signs) is available and necessary for military characters which is used to interpret hand and other signals on the battlefield.



Ship Buying Policy: Characters may spend any amount of money on their ship, ship equipment, and supplies and their nation will match it two-fold (200% bonus). The ship will be owned by the nation and operated by the character, who will have significant say in the duties of that ship.

"Factions at War" Character Sheet

To use this, just open the file then select all the text (ctrl + a). Copy that text (ctrl + c) then start a new thread in this forum. Name the thread after your character, or make it a placeholder and I'll change it for you at a later time, and paste the text (ctrl + v) into the text box.

Fill it out and you're ready to go.
