Chapter 3: OOC Messages
What can I say, I find it easier to search for messages if they're broken down into chapters/different threads. I take it everyone can update their characters on their own? If you need help, let me know. Or if you have questions, by all means ask them.

Okay, I'm fairly sure managed it, all I seemed to need to do was increment the rank number, add this to the base from my dex and alter the dice to reflect my new higher step (Along with adding five to my current karma)

Looks like Varrik, Zeff, Zalazar and Jigin are all 2nd circle. If any of these characters wishes to start buying 2nd circle talents, they may do so. Jigin and Varrik have both done so, but I don't recall Zeff or Zalazar doing this.
Jigin can select new spells who's total value does not exceed twice his new circle's value. In this case he can have four spell levels (i.e. 4 1st or 2 2nd, or 2 1st and 1 2nd, or 1 3rd and 1 1st).

Well, alrighty then. I will be purchasing 2 ranks in Durability, though Anticipate Blow is tempting. Actually, I think I can afford one rank in A.B.

Okay, I was considering having Flit boost up his Toughness Attribute, but then decided it would be more prudent to have 3 matrixes instead.
Talent Increase: Read Magic from 1 to 2 (200 LP) Threadweaving from 1 to 2 (200 LP) Karma Ritual from 1 to 2 (200 LP) Go go gadget 2nd Circle! Spell Matrix (Elementalism) Rank 1 (100 LP) New spells selected: Flame Weapon (Circle 1) Plant Feast (Circle 3) Karma purchased during 8 day rest and training period: 12 points (topped off the Karma reserves) (60 LP) Total spent: 760 LP Last edited by Rockwolf; 1st of March, 2005 at 13:32. |

I decided on Versatility instead of Ant. Blow.
Congrats to 2nd circle folks! 57/45! Last edited by Zeff; 1st of March, 2005 at 15:20. |

So Flit has one rank 2 matrix and two rank 1 matricies? And Flit's max karma increased when he learned rank 2 in karma ritual. Hs new max is 22.
Karma Max Flit - 22 (10 + KR*6) Jigin - 18 (10 + KR*4) Sador - 18 (10 + KR*4) Varrik - 18 (10 + KR*4) Zalazar - 18 (10 + KR*4) Zeff - 20 (10 + KR*5) Hmmm...is Zeff thinking about learning some swordmaster talents if Sador is willing to share his secrets? Wound Balance and Parry come to mind when I think versatility. Or will he go the crafty route and see about learning stealth from Zalazar? Once everyone's done with their advancement, I'll post an update to the hit points, wounds and karma thread.

He can learn Matrix (Elementalism) from Flit...
But only that. |

Naw, spellcasting with versatillity is VERY expensive.
<cough> parry <cough> riposte |

Why? Because you need around 5 talents just to get started with your first spell? Oh come on, it's fun!

Let's see, you would need the following talents:Read/Write Magic and Spellcasting at the minimum. Casting spells in this manner is dangerous since you either have to cast from a grimoire or with raw magic. It also limits you to casting non-threaded spells. To cast threaded spells you also need to learn thread weaving from the spell casting discipline. Generally you'll need four talents, R/W Magic, Spellcasting, Thread Weaving and a Spell Matrix.
The human magic-user that uses veratility to cast other kinds of spells other than his own discipline isn't too bad. I've seen it done and it is viable when you have a small group. The only thing is that you'll slow your progession dramatically if you want to be good at casting spells in your quasi-second discipline. On the plus side to doing this, you don't need to learn spellcasting or read/write magic. These two talents are universal and work the same for all the disciplines. So Zeff wants to learn Parry - Riposte. Too bad Sador's lagging behind after buying up his toughness. He'll get there eventually, though it's not as if Zeff has any more legend points to spend at the moment. But it's something to look forward to. Oh, there is one thing to keep in mind if Zeff learns Parry - Riposte, both talents require karma if they are not discipline talents. Thus if Zeff had both talents, he would use two karma each time he tried to riposte someone. One karma powers the parry and another to use riposte. If you need more suggestions: Wound Balance, Sprint, Fireblood, Great Leap, Claw Shape, Silent Walk and Surprise Strike are all good talents to use your versatility on. It might be difficult finding someone to teach you some of these talents, but it's always nice to dream.

Karma is one of the reasons for going this route, as discussed earlier. Rank+Dex+3+karma? Yummy! Also looking forward to Down Strike. Perhaps I can hunt down Lizard Leap to use in conjunction. Karma in, Karma out like the Breath of Life. It's good juju.

I'm sure we'll get to that soon enough... but right now we have to show off our new talents and spells to each other.

Downstrike requires you to be much higher than your opponent, hence the need to learn Great Leap.
And yes, I waiting to see if there were any preparations before you go off exploring the wilderness. As an example, setting up your new spells in their newly acquired matricies, or using a recovery test to apply wood skin, etc.

With their hard earned legend points, they were at a loss on what to do. And maybe the idea of a non-structured open-ended adventure won't fly with you guys? By Tuesday I'll assume that everyone simply follows Zalazar. I also believe that a couple of my players went away for a holiday week.

I'll be posting this evening. Next weekend is my holiday, yay!
ok, maybe Great leap would be better than Lizard leap, only that lizard leap mentions that it's primarily a vertical jump. |

No-one ever cares about your point of view.
Varrik is going to sit and smoke his pipe until someone comes up with a more exciting plan, preferably involving beer and a warm bed. |

I should probably disagree with that.
I should demand that we bury him or something. Just that I have a feeling that Earthdawn Dwarves are different from Dwarves as I know 'em. |
