Gnoll is medium size actually,
so the greatsword is medium too.

Yeah, I also noticed that most of the party was small, I just forgot that jok is running a kobold which is also tiny. We shall be known as the Mini-Raiders (plus Loryn)!

Also, I'm all posted up on my actions, just waiting on Captain and Dumari to agree/do whatever it is they need doing. I'm good with just assuming the actions you posted, Francis.

Whoops, forgot about that post. So yeah, just Dumari. Probably has RL going on - what a waste!

And in case you haven't noticed Captain, I'm a dwarf too, so technically medium. When I said small, I didn't mean mechanicswise small, I just meant short. Honestly, game terms get so confusing sometimes.

Sorry, been silently reading but not replying. It's a pain to reply on my iphone.

I'm good to move on Francis.

I'm back at work in a couple of days, so should be back to my normal post count.

DUDE! WTF man who risks traps for a 1sp bedroll? besides which I have been AT WORK since 6AM (new york time) I haven't had time to even ready the last couple of posts.

Moreover I have a friggin' 12 for intelligence (the equivalent of a rocket scientist at NASA) a 14 Dex and should spot a bucket on a door 50% of the time since the DC is somewhere around 10 (more often if you consider it a trap, it's the oldest trick in the book and i'm an experienced rogue). Using logical physics an inert bucket would fall on my side of the door due to the factors of gravity and inertia.

IF you want, you can make an intelligence check DC 10 (no not taking 10).
If you make it, Grakul will decide against entering his room and all of this won't have happened. (I'll edit it out).

Physics didn't stop working. It was designed by a trapmaker to fall on the other side of the door. He fixed a small rod of wood diagonally to the upper part of the door, holding the bucket up on the other side of the door. But as Grakul opened the door, this support moved away out, so the bucket fell down.

Regards,

Francis.

the main point was that I have been at work and wasn't able to post in the scant few hours you allowed reaction posts.

and your trap can not physically be possible (give me a map and i'll believe you)

Search Check
18

Disable device check
27

those results SHOULD make me SEE any trap and then give me the ability to disable it but it's moot now any way I'll just kick the guards asses

I dont like your attitude, pal!

I studied physics, I played D&D a lot of with other physics students, and we discussed this particular sound trap a lot.
It's invisible, because the bucket rests on top of the door and on top of the diagonal rod. If you look for it, your vision is blocked by the door frame.
It's constructed as a labile equilibrium, which makes the bucket fall as soon as you disturb it, even if you disturb it a little.

Here's what I'll do:
I'll take your search check as your int. check: unmodified you had a 9, +1 int, makes 10, so Grakul made his DC 10 intelligence check.
That means he decides against opening his room door.

I'll edit accordingly.

you know what I'm out...simple as that....EC/Dumari/Merbak/elmer sorry ....obviously if you are doing the main role-play at 5am my time then it's not a game I will be awake/available to play especially if when i am awake my character will have done the dumbest thing possible to retrieve the least worth while goal (risking traps and getting caught over his blankie and pillow). Like my attitude or don't Francis a level 5 rogue especially one with a history of dungeon delving would never act this way no matter how much real-world physics you put into the trap.

Sorry that you're out Captain. I'll miss you here, but at least you can still give me cookies over at Seekers.
Francis, I think you need to realize that here in PBP, we're going to be taking time between our posts, especially since we live in different time zones. Don't let the fact that I post instantaneously fool you - I'm just obsessed with these boards of late. Most people will need time to make a post. From what I've seen two or three a day, three or four days a week is a good rate, and keeps the games moving. If you're going to be assuming our actions just to speed the game up to your waking times... I don't think the game will be very successful.
I'm definitely still in, but only as long as you give us the time and ability to make our own decisions.

Discussion closed.
For the future mind these rules:
- if I set a time limit and you don't have time to post, that's no problem; but I'll have to assume that your character does what your companions expect you to do. In this case, these companions were Badger and Rory.
- The DM makes the skill checks in secret, as I posted earlier in the "Characters and Rules"-section.

Yeh sorry, I'm in the same timezone as Francis (pretty much) and Cheese is a mutant that doesn't appear to need sleep.

Can we move on in the IC thread. Once Grakul's breakdown has been edited out.

Francis, I'd really rather you didn't set time-limits. While I'm likely going to be able to make all my posts by the time limit (at least until summer) because of my mutant powers, I feel it makes the game too rigid if we impose time limits. The benefits of playing online are that we can all post in different times.
Not that no limits are bad: If a week goes by with nothing from a player, assuming their actions would probably be the smart move. But assuming them on a day-to-day basis... I don't think it'll work out well.
It's your game, run it how you want. I'm just trying to offer some advice to make it go smoother.

On a related note, how do you guys want to handle Grakul, now that Captain's out? Have him captured, so that we have to rescue him and Ssved'Karr? (after which he won't be a PC, just an NPC) Have him come along as an allied NPC?

I'll set time limits whenever I see fit.
4 and a half day not posting any actions beside a little small talk,
that interrupts the game too much.
(I am talking about the morning of 2nd May till the evening of the 6th GMT)
The game gets boring if you stay in a hidden closet for 5 days or more.

Francis, I was enjoying the roleplaying going on in the closet, so it wasn't boring to me. I can respect that it's your game, and your decisions, but on some level, it's our game too, about our characters, and being unduly rushed detracts from that for me.

I'm ready to move on in-game, I just need to know the situation on Gralhruk before I can act.

Grakul will be an NPC who has a helpful attitude towards your group.
He will do anything which can reasonably expected of him.
You can continue talking to him, I'll try to respond for him in character, until such time that another player is willing to take his role.

Since you're rolling skill checks, can you tell me:
a) what a good church or two that I could plant the box at once its fixed
and
b) what the dwarves' attitude about those churches are

Every god's temple would be okay, except Moradin and Nerull, as they are above suspicion.
Note: the Olympic Gods are worshipped in the Castle of Greecian Deities and in a few small chapels. Poseidon has a few temples underwater.

Every dwarf has it's own ideas about religion, but in general:
Dwarves have sympathy for Moradin, Nike, Hephaistos and Yondalla.
Dwarves generally have antipathy for Nerull, Hextor, Olidamma and Tiamat.
There are no temples of Olidamma.
The temples of Tiamat are underground in the living areas of Duergar and Drow Elves; that's not generally accessible to dwarves. There are a few small chapels devoted to Tiamat above ground, however.
For every other deity a temple can easily be found in the city of Marash Pul.

Here is the pantheon of my world (see background section):

Here is the PANTHEON of my home-brew world:

Fharlanghn (Worshipers: Bards, travelers, merchants),
Carl Glittergold (Worshipers: Gnomes, illusionists, jewelers, practical jokers.)
Heironeous (Worshipers: Paladins, fighters, monks, judges, constables)
Hextor (Worshipers: Fighters, monks, conquerors, tyrants, goblinoids)
Pelor (Worshipers: Bards, rangers, druids, healers, commoners)
Kurtulmak (worshipers: kobolds, lizardfolk and Troglodytes)
Moradin (Worshipers: Dwarves, metalworkers)
Nerull (Worshipers: Orcs, gnolls, necromancers, assassins, murderers)
St. Cuthbert (Worshipers: Fighters, monks, judges, constables)
Olidamma (worshipers: rogues, rat-men, bards, actors, vintners)
Tiamat (worshipers: duergar, elves and drow elves, evil dragons)
Wee Jas (worshipers: sorcerers, wizards).
Yondalla (Worshipers: Halflings, explorers, pioneers)

Greek gods:
HERA: (Worshipers:Women, wives, spies, planners)
Zeus: (everyone)
Poseidon: (Merfolk, Locathah, fishermen, sailors)
NIKE: Worshipers: Fighters, monks, athletes
Hephaestos: Worshipers: Dwarves, Duergar, artisans, fighters
Artemis: Worshipers: Rangers, druids, elves, halflings, hunters

I have been proceeding with my character creation at a snails pace. Thank you for being patient thus far.

I have an RP idea that can help explain not only my late entrance, but also my inability to update in the game as often as the rest of you.

Have you ever played final fantasy 3?
