The DC is 20 (same as the save would have been) - you also have ranks in Survival and Heal, so there's probably a circumstantial synergy bonus in there.

Alternatively, I don't want to waste limited time on a side quest to find an unscrupulous herbalist.

How does everyone feel about switching to the forum's new grid maps if we have to stop using tokens? It would save me a lot of time while working on combat posts to not have to update a map in separate software (and then host a fresh copy of it every round somewhere), but I don't want to damage the aesthetic if that is important to more than one person.

Gral noted that you can make round image-less tokens. Here's an example.

EDIT - Plus with the [token==XX text=XX] you can have tooltips for any token in order to add more information - even HP and AC!

Not so much - no image at all, just text and a background color - Merc's "token" tag in the above example looks like this:

[token=g9 text=Medium Elemental 1 HP 50 AC 13 squares=1x1c color=red][b][color=black]A1[/color][/b][/token]

Edit: The "squares=1x1c color=red" says he wants his token to be a red circle occupying 1 square by 1 square. Then he specifies the actual text in between the token tags: [b][color=black]A1[/color][/b]

Tree - yes. In the image above, the red circle is not an image the way the map or the R token are.

EDIT - what Gral said. You just make a token that is a 1x1c in whatever color you want and that's not an image counting against the 10 per post limit.

My next question, then - since players will have the ability to update the maps, do we want to revisit the 'go in whatever order you post' idea that was shelved a month or so ago?

I think that makes the most sense, that way you just quote the post from the person before you and all you have to do is update your position and delete the [quote] tags.

The main issue I see with it (and it isn't a small one) is when two or more people are trying to update at the same time and they post over each other. It isn't uncommon for at least two people to respond to a combat update almost immediately.

Edit: maybe it's a bad idea still.

So, and this is just an idea, suppose in a post that had a map there was an extra button that said "edit my position", whereby any user could click it and edit token position. I'm thinking you would specify which users could edit which tokens or something (maybe in a "user" parameter). They wouldn't have the ability to do a true edit to the post, only change the token line for tokens specified by the person who posted the map.

The only thing that would make that more awesome is if there was another button that dispensed hot fudge sundaes through the computer monitor.

For the nonce, I am having trouble thinking of reasons not to just make everyone a moderator, and let people skootch around their own tokens on one map. I trust all these people, and even if I didn't there is a pretty clear audit trail in the edit log.

It's more work for the admins, and it kind of messes with the other permissions - for example, your GM only forums would be visible to anyone with mod access to your game forum.

I could also move the current IC thread into the forum that already has mod access for everyone set up. It would be out of place but what the hey! And no additional admin work.

Yes, if I give them mod access they'd be able to view private threads as well - basically, they'd have the same permissions you do within this game forum.

Gralhruk, your idea about having a button to edit map positions would be amazing if it's feasible. Alternatively, one thing I used to like to do was put combats into their own thread so they don't eat up a lot of of the IC thread space (they often take up pages and pages). You could put a map in the opening post, have that one post open to everyone, and then let people post their actions from round to round, editing that one map post the entire time.
