Outages (Vikings)

UPDATE2: Being told things are working again, so with luck that was it. But, and I quote them on this: "Techs are continuing to investigate the root cause." So who knows.

UPDATE: This no longer amuses me.

Orp's hosting is having some fairly epic failures right now. The site seems to be back up for now, but it has been up and down for most of the day, so don't hold your breath.

Their twitter feed tells me that the outage is over their entire network and that they are "working on it." Then again, the twitter feed also said to check their Server Status page, while it was down. Atleast I know they power cycled it, they took the time to tell everyone that.

So, we'll see. Things might be bumpy before the end.

Due to the vague nature of this notice, we choose to believe that the outage that took down Orp was the result of a Viking raid on the server farm. Team Admin apologises, and we will keep you updated with all the Viking news related to this matter as it breaks.

An updated notice:
The issue appears to be caused by spanning tree problems in the Canberra core. Engineers are on site. It is likely that instability will continue for a short while. We apologise for the disruption.
If that isn't a euphemism for Vikings, I don't know what is.

Considering it costs me money to provide this place to you, I'll invoice you for how much you owe me. We accept all major credit cards.

If anyone cares, a Preliminary Incident Report about yesterdays outages has been released. Please note, it doesn't rule out viking involvement.

It is currently believed that the root cause of the outage is one of the items of customer specific hardware moved during the relocation incident [by Vikings].
Hmm, you're right, that does fit.

I go away for one weekend and the Vikings attack. This is why we can't have nice things.

See!?!? Now we have vikings! I told you to wipe your feet before you come in here, but no, you can't listen.

This is what happens when you visit the dark side. It always seems quicker and easier, but that's all just the temptation. And once you start down that dark path, forever will it consume you.

Sadly, after reading the Final Report, it all makes compete sense to me ... it's Cisco's fault!

Sorry, I was bored, so I was browsing random posts.
