Of course. That's just the errata'd character generation - 1BP per dot of Virtues or Willpower. Mind you, Scroll of Errata does say it only applies to Exalted, so Feather will still pay through the nose for it, but Kindle can buy it dirt cheap now.

So, what is the difference between sentience and sapience? And I take it we are rebuilding our characters using the Errata.

Also, Hi, I'm back. Nice to meet you LL. Daed and Red told me like 9 times yesterday this thread was active again.

Roughly speaking, sentience means "Able to communicate, think abstractly, and have a self image." Under that definition, lots of creatures are sentient. Sapient means "Able to communicate with humans, think abstractly like humans, and have a self image based on human understanding." Under that definition, only humans are sapient.

The difference only really comes up in biology and xenobiology, so a lot of people use sentient when sapient would be more apt, either because they don't understand the meaning of sentience or they don't know the word sapience and are using the closest thing.

Huh, I realize I've never actually used the word "sapient" before.

Regardless, I seem to recall the we garnered some extra BP when the game started from backgrounds and pictures and such. Are those BP invalid now for those of us that are rebuilding with the 2.5 rules?

Yes. No more bonus BP, sorry.

I was wondering if I could convince you into using an altered version of the Familiar background, as written it's quite underpowered, specially in comparison to the Demonic Familiar of Infernals or the one for Alchemicals/Mountain Folk, which effectively allows you to have spirit/demons as your lackeys.

For your horse? Depends on who wrote the background. Also, this is important - no 5-dot backgrounds without my express approval, and no 4-dots without significant explanation.

Tag, we're going to need to take a look at Mercitual again. After a recent re-reading of it I'm not terribly satisfied with it as it stands.

S'cool, Red and I were just chatting the other day and we both think that Merc, as he stands, is a terrible, incomprehensible mess. With your permission I'd like to rework him into a 4 dot artifact and focus him into something...er...usable.

I'm definitely okay with this. I feel like you could quite easily make a Soulsteel Long Powerbow with an extra power or two and have a solid 4-dot.

At your discretion, there's the option of Legendary Familiars found in Scroll of Heroes pg 156, which basically allows you to get god-blooded animals as companions, at the same rate you would have to buy them as allies. I think this option might be the best one, but if not, I found the following modified familiar backgrounds for you to see which works better, they are all very similar, based on mutation/points purchases to enhance and customize the familiar:
Epsilon's
Nervdana's
Plus here's a list of fan created versions of several backgrounds, but I'm only concerned with the familiar one for this character.

Also, would you consider allowing the purchase of Henchmen as a Solar? I just might want a small retinue of loyal bodyguards on my side, no more than 5.

Sorry Leafar, forgot to respond to this.

Familiar
I did a little bit of research at the links you posted as well as through google when I first caught your post a few days ago. I'd like to avoid anything that uses mutations or exceedingly complicated new systems, so I'm not too sure what we'll do yet - but yes, I'll definitely alter it to give it a boost in power. If I recall correctly, Plague of Hats had a fix for it as well that used Spirits or something. Let me do some more research and get back to you.

Henchmen
One dot in Followers will give you just that, won't it? I'm leery, because Henchmen are typically heroic mortals and therefore a good bit more powerful. I'll think on it some more and get back to you.

I've edited Kindle for the new 2.5 edition rules. She's been put up, so unless people see anything wrong with my math she should be ready to go now.

Also just to verify, we are operating on the standard 18 BP, correct? No bonus bonus points?

Correct, no bonus. I had debating keeping them, but decided that would simply complicate things. Solars used to buy Charms at 4/5 BP back when I gave those and do so at 3/4 BP nowadays, meaning I'd be giving you an extra 2 free Charms on top of the 1 free Charm (+3 BP, from 15 to 18) you already got from the Errata'd character gen.

Red, I just wanted to mention that as they stands right now, Kindle and Feather are both illiterate. You need 1 dot of Lore to be able to read and write, just thought that might be something you wanna change, since your characters don't strike me as barbarians.

Both Kindle and Feather are street urchins, wanderers, and generally uneducated in academic matters. I wanted to show they've never had any kind of formal education in a lot of things, and honestly the way I view Creation is that literacy is far from universal or mandatory for your average peasant.

Your everyday farmer/peasant/slave, care of the Core, actually lacks dots in the Lore ability. I'd have to side with Red on that - lacking Lore dots doesn't make one a barbarian, it simply means that they lack a basic education. Plus, the whole notion of barbarism is subjective in Creation (and real life) anyways .

That's perfectly understandable and I agree, I just wasn't sure if the lack of Lore was deliberate, or unintentional.

That's okay, I wasn't offended or anything. I appreciate you going through the effort or overlooking them and double checking LL.

I wanted to ask you guys your opinion on something. For Exceptional armor it states I get two +1 bonuses to distribute among soak, mobility penalty, and fatigue value. Now for weapons it states you can't put more than one bonus into each value, but it doesn't explicitly state that for armor. So can I put both those bonuses into one value, or do I have to spread it out like with weapons?

Putting both points in the same trait doesn't seem like division of the +1's to me.

I hate to bring it to this, but Tag, you've been off the radar for for two weeks now. Not sure what happened to you after our little exchange, but at this point in time it's not my problem. You've got exactly one week from the timestamp on this pots to give me some kind of notice that you still want to be in this game, after which I will assume otherwise and move the game along.

Ah yes, I'm sorry, I kind of got busy. Honestly though, I don't think I'd have much fun playing in this game so it's probably best I bow out.
