I find it interesting that there is a church dedicated to a freaking devil right in the middle of the city .

"If you look to your left, you'll see the Happy Time Orphanage, and there on the right is the Temple of Asmodeus - oh, how lucky! We've gotten here right when a blood ritual is in progress."

Ah, good that you can now see the city map, Chovi! It wouldn't do for you not to see it. It's a miracle that Gral devised.

The map is very impressive, yeah. I can imagine the amount of html coding that went into it.

I think it's interesting that they can keep things compartmented so tidily. Nouveau riche in one district, and no riffraff living next door. "Can I see your income statement? Nope, sorry, you don't earn enough per month. You can't move in here. We've got standards, you know."

It's actually incorporated into the site so that anyone can more or less easily create a grid, stick an image to it (an encounter map for instance) and some tokens or lettering or geometric figures and manipulate it easily. (Probably there's something in what I said that's not quite right - but I'll let Gral correct me in that case, he's the expert.
... so no need for Gimp or Photoshop or anything once that map is set up.

... which means, yes, we'll use encounter maps for... uh, encounters.

I think it's interesting that they can keep things compartmented so tidily. Nouveau riche in one district, and no riffraff living next door. "Can I see your income statement? Nope, sorry, you don't earn enough per month. You can't move in here. We've got standards, you know."
And there's not even a wall or something between Midlands and The Heights for instance. There's a pretty large force of the Korvosan Guard at a few checkpoints and on patrol. And noble families will look out for their manors/property with private security.
... but note that the 'riffraff' can enter the Heights - to visit the Temple of Sarenrae for instance. But you can bet that if you're walking around there, big brother is watching you in one way or another.

Yes, tiny skeleton is the first big milestone . Of course, the champagne tends to drain out of your hollow jaw, but still.

And I think you all will get at least a little familiar with the map tags - we'll set things up so you can move your character on the encounter maps - but we can save that for later.

Edit: Oh, and Tash got the gridmap stuff right. Also, it is my baby, and nobody will ever love it quite the way I do .

Anyone know how best to view the interactive map with the ipad? I don't seem to be able to use those super features with all the colorful pointers...

Hmmm, mobile devices don't seem to support the hover feature very well. I'll see if I can come up with a solution - possibly tapping on the pointers or something.

Probably, if anyone made noises to do anything about it, they'd cry about religious tolerance and political incorrectness, lol.

Hey, our brethren over from the Temple of Asmodeus regularly pay their blood ritual tax! They're great citizens. And they only use volunteer virgins. They even get them to sign!

"mobile devices don't seem to support the hover feature very well."

I'm now picturing a psicrystal floundering and swooping erratically through the air, trying to stay stable.

I did a lot of reading over the weekend but I still have quite a bit more to go!

I have to admit that I find it difficult to imagine a world where Evil exists as it seems to here...

Well, we're not in Cheliax where that's indeed so - and people are more or less happy about it because the alternative would be worse (those of you who have read about it in the Golarion thread know what I'm speaking of). Korvosa is definitely not an evil city - it's very lawful at its core though. And there are Chelaxian influences which have evil touches indeed - but those aren't accepted by everyone.

So while I was joking about the Temple of Asmodeus earlier, don't expect any overt evil acts in the city - or that those would be condoned. Different factions in the city have different attitudes and philosophies, obviously. Feel free to go for a background that you like and feel good about - you can post your ideas/wishes in your character forum and we can assist you there.

Lol, thanks for that image. I've been seeing iPads crashing into things.

Nice! That works beautifully too.

Come to think of it, it would be fun to play with a psion who uses their psicrystal in all of the ways in which you might use an iPad or iPhone. For a Seer or Telepath, that might be especially workable.

My mother's internet access doesn't like me. I made sure to get three hours at my mother's place in the afternoon to catch up on everything that has come up here, but I wasn't able to go online. *sigh*

Ah well, updates on everyone's thoughts probably at the start of next week when I'm back home.

Busy couple of days here, but Tash and I have been chewing on some stuff behind the scenes. We should have some answers / suggestions / comments for everyone very shortly.

Alright, I'm on vacation starting tomorrow. Character creation is moving along pretty well, and I think that things will start getting nailed down while I'm gone. Hopefully we can finalize when I get back and then really get started playing .

Happy September everyone!

... and a heads-up that I added a point in the rules concerning the skills:
There is no penalty for cross class skills - you don't pay double for one rank (so every point invested in any skill gives you one rank); the only downside is that you don't get the +3 bonus that you get for class skills.

Me likes this rule.

Also, how far along are you guys with your characters? I almost know who I'm going to be now.

Thanks to some great feedback and guidance, I think I'm pretty much done and ready, surprisingly. How about everyone else?

Everyone else can go ahead and chime in, but I'll quickly throw in that Reinstadler is offline for the remainder of the week and Majik is pretty busy for the next couple of days so don't expect and answer from him just now.
