Indie Fun Game Time

I'm looking to try to run a game. You get to pick! Yes, you. So lucky. You have three options:

Dogs in the Vinyard
God's Watchdogs go from town to town, delivering mail and solving troubles within the faith. Focuses on conflicts between contemporary values (the players') and antiquated religious values (the characters'), as well as the temptation of violence as a solution. Kind of heavy.
I feel the main point of the game is for it to be heavy, and I'd push on that as best I could. Your brother's found out his son's sleeping with another woman, he's walking out the door with a rifle, and if you don't do something he'll shoot her, and probably her 'husband' too, and some other folks if they're in the way. Except that 'husband' is from out east, a heathen, and everyone's just about lost their patience with him and his 'wife.' Worse, the local priest's a heretic and has been corrupting the faithful, telling them how the Faith's what's been twisted, what's grown corrupt, and he's just itching for some more fuel for that fire. What do you do?

Mouse Guard
Mice go from town to town, delivering mail and fighting the forces of nature. A bit less of a focus on interpersonal conflict, instead having a range of more traditional threats (though of course obstinate mice could be a problem as well). Also the threats are much more deadly in general. Stuff like there's a town on the outskirts that's been hassled by this owl all winter, and now it's spring and you can finally move out, except now there's a flood coming right at you, and you get swept away and have no idea where you are, but here's this other town that's been half washed away where some mice are hassling some other mice and nobody has enough food because there was still frost in the ground a week ago and now you've got to get that settled. Also don't forget the owl.
Has a suboption 2b of Mouse Guard Out West, where the mice have guns and also there are big lizards and scorpions and desert. You need to go deal with settlers who have apparently upset the native longtails and also there's a viper and also it flooded (again) and now coyote is toying with you oh fuck. This would be a massive hassle for me to actually set up. Significant aspects of Mouse Guard rely on what nature is like in the setting, a temperate forest, and you'd have to switch all sorts of things around for a desert. But it would also be awesome. So awesome.

Dungeon World
The lighter option. Uses the Apocalypse World system, would be played pretty straight, just some dudes killing orcs in a cave or whatever. Really up to you guys where this would go. Well, I don't want it to actually be "just some dudes in a cave killing orcs." Although I have no idea, maybe that's fine too if it's what you guys want? But probably there's something more interesting. Like exploring ruins in a flying island or surviving the Ten-Thousand-Fold Labyrinth or whatever. Could set it in Eberron, for example, and reference magewrights and dragonmarks and magitech and all that sort of thing, where you're a detective agency tracking a psychopathic murderer onto the lightning rail. Or whatever else you want. Like it would be like if I was running a D&D game except I wouldn't have to deal with it being D&D.
Would end up being the least structured. You need to be the main driving force in where things go. Both Dogs and Mouse Guard have aspects where I (the GM) need to adapt things to your characters' values and goals, but this option would basically have you writing the plot wholesale, with me as the guy who prods you along and throws in wrinkles.

The Twist
I have not even played any of these games! I have read a fair bit about all of them, and listened to some play sessions so I have an idea how they run, but I am not very familiar with any of them.
So, I'd really need (not "like," need) whoever joins to be willing to help work them out as a group. This isn't a situation where I can just explain how things go and shuffle it along, everybody would need to be on the same page. Only join if you're willing to get and read a copy of the rules and help with figuring out how it works. I am by no means "a pro."
Importantly, only say something like "I'm up for any of them" if you actually are, and if you don't have a copy of one of them and don't really want to get it then say so. That's why I have three options.

The game would start next year sometime. Like maybe February, even. Western-style Mouse Guard even later. This thread is about which of these three I'm going to actually sit down and take a good long look at and read the GM bits again except carefully this time, and listen to a few more sessions of to get a sense of it, and there'll be another announcement later (well, just an update to this thread).
I'm not expecting commitments, and this could fall through. But, I've been toying with each of those three, and felt like hey might as well ask what's the most interesting for you guys.
Also even if it seems like this game is "full," or everyone's going for something you're not interested, post anyway. Maybe they'll all drop out in a month or two and then we'll go with your thing. Or maybe we need some alternates and you decide you like that other game after all. Also I'm flying home tomorrow and it's holidays so no pressure, if it's like a week later post anyway we're still not nearly near a "deadline." Post. Do it.

I'd be most interested in Dungeon World, though Dogs in the Vineyard could be fun.

EDIT: any chance of talking you into running your own Apoc World game?

I'd play any of the three, but I think I'd most like to play Dogs.

EDIT: I second the question in Darius' edit!

There's something about AW that sort of bugs me, but I could give it a shot. It would fill my desire for a *world game, though. Alternate for DW.
We could start the AW stuff immediately. I'd still want to try one of the others. If we can get a third player AW could start rolling.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to try DitV or Mouse Guard (DW doesn't really do it for me and I'm not entirely sure why).

Weird, nobody (else) is in the mood for any of these?
Maybe it's my assurances of overwhelming competence and GMing skill that've scared them off.

I'll leave this up for a while longer, if anyone pops in with some interest, but I'd really want a group of four. Looks like it's leaning towards DitV and/or AW (I could get the AW going pretty easily first).

Have you tried recruiting in places other than orp? Telling people over at the Lumpley forums might generate some interest (especially in AW, DW, or DitV).

And yes itches, I did mean user activity. Edited the post for clarity.

I am interested, I just don't want to always be that "me too!" kind of guy. Doesn't help that I'm REALLY unfamiliar with the indie systems.

So, I can be your token n00b player, if you'd like.

Looks like there's a lean towards Dogs, and I'll start that at some point in the vague future.

Three's enough for AW, I feel like, and maybe we'll catch one or two more? I will bother Team Admin for one and then things can start simmering.

Think I might go with either hardholder or operator. Any preference? __

Hey, I'm new here and don't really have too much familliarity with any of the systems, but will happily play anything. I want to start up on the forum and get a better understanding for how pbp gameplay works.

Played on gaia ages ago, but I love that this is actually using the game systems and everything. I don't really have copies of the rules for the systems. Mouse Guard seems most interesting to me as I've known some friends in my old gaming club who really enjoyed it, but really as I said, I'm up for anything if you'll have a forum newb like myself. Let me know when it would be starting and what system. That way I have time to look over the book.

It's probably about time I started increasing my game book collection instead of either borrowing or simply using the PDFs.

P.S. Sorry, Marcus, I may have taken the n00b slot, or joined you in it. One or the other.

When this starts, it would be with Dogs in the Vineyard. I'm fine with noobs, but as I said I'm also inexperienced with the game, and wouldn't feel up to trying to explain it very well, so I'd appreciate it if players could have the rules handy and have looked through them.
Dogs in the Vineyard is a really neat game, and in my personal opinion super enjoyable to read just on its own, even if you don't end up playing it. D. Vincent Baker is a master at conveying the intended feel of the game.

I've also got an AW game that just started, and you (as well as anyone else) are welcome to join. It's over here.
New people should post in the OOC thread.
