So here's what's on my mind : part of the difficulty - for me - in getting things going in Aerdun is that I had scripted piletre into the main plot arc, but now that i looks like i'm going to be playing her i'm trying to back track - we're talking years worth of plotting.

So whilst pondering this predicament i asked my self - what would robert e howard do?

Blood, blades and babes

so instead of following my usual penchant for the god aweful melodramatic beast of a master story, how about a more episodic flair?

I talked to gral and he said he was game as well - so unless there are any objections then here's what i'd like to do -

I would like everyone to email me a two things that they would like to see in this next chapter.

And now that i have some more free time - the two things can be anything. Characters, monsters, colors, trope, or what ever. My daughter and I do this for story time and it's kind of fun.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I think civilization would be a good change at some point too. I'd also like to see a leader emerge. I want Ghostface to be a strong and silent type which in PBP seems to mean not taking the lead. There's only so much I can write about what's going on in his head...so I'd be happy to riff off the lead.

And as a second item something that can be accomplished in another manner than smacking the hell out of it. I'm also okay with that being the primary Conan-style option but sometimes I like to go around rather than through... or dare I say it "with" rather than "against".

But foremost I'd like a leader to emerge.

Leadership was one of those things I was hoping to test Gorm with. His father was a great chief, and his mission *is* to go out into the world to earn enough man points to earn his seat at the head of the table back home. I see him comfortably settling into a leadership role (see also: mouthpiece and organizer). One of his tests, I think, is to surround himself with capable men so that they may go out and do great things to expand their legend. And these men certainly seem capable.

And I second Hodge's call for civilization. My other suggestion (which I sent to J in an email) was a request to see more of the spiritual/supernatural side of this world. I'm thinking more shamanistic spirits than the undead--something to showcase the unique cosmology of this world.

Since we're trending more urban in the next chapter...

1) Theft from nobility/royalty/magi
2) Unlikely allies

Aerdun is next on my list - in keeping with the more episodic feel i may move the first couple of posts from chapter 3 to the end of the chapter two thread and then start out with something fresh (and more than likely in media res).

Goodnews - I've finally been able to scrape together something that resembles an adventure. More (as in a start) to follow shortly.

You guys have been moving through the deep woodlands for several weeks now. Gral you'll need to come up with an excuse to go with them - boredom, a desire to do some real trading, whatever you'd like.

Its sometime in Aramin - you're not really sure of the date.

Thorrik is familiar with the Tarn (fort) - it commands the southern bend of the Krˇkr Fljˇt (crooked river). It serves as a bastion of stability along the riverways as it controlls the portage past the Vatntonn (river's teeth). The eastern Marglˇd Fljˇt (golden river) feeds in a bit to the north, a bit further south lay the southern Marglˇd and the Ăgir Fljˇt (sea river - leads to the dwarven port city of Rhorrigh). Its a fairly large fort, whose size fluctuates with the flow of commerce along the rivers. The city stands behind a large wooden wall some 10 feet or so high. The city usually holds a bit over three hundred souls, but can swell to a couple thousand during the harvest trading season.

Derbolg from Gwarrieve often use the Krˇkr as a short cut to get to the cyleni bay, and vice versa. Straes Gjardsson (straes = derbolg rank equivalent to a baron) comes from the derbolg bloodline that first raised the manor house at Framadr, and has a reputation of being just.

In many of the smaller Tembrui villages you passed through hushed rumors of illness and infirmity flit about. There are some that remember the old feuds with the easterlings, and wish to retake the rivers, but most of such talk is beer bolstered bravado. Besides the Tembrui have their own troubles, namely that their chieftess seems to be embroiled in some some sort of heavily politicking and has mostly been absent from tribal moots.

The Straes has some 50 or men and woman warriors as Hirđmenn (sworn shieldmen) - his control of the river ensures that they are armed and armored with full double mail and pattern welded weapons.

Thought I'd keep it brief. The guy is just a guard.

Gorm is banking on two things here: 1) his father's reputation, and 2) the traditions of hospitality.

Who know, maybe the great lord will even have a task--something only the son of Hroulf Sheafson and his companions might be able to pull off.

Whilst I'm thinking about it, everyone gets 5xp. You've been traveling and fighting alot so some suggestions -

Languages (communication good)
combat skill levels (start with a smaller 2 or 3 point CSL)
Survival (even one point is good)
Area knowledge (Tembruj)

Well, *that* ought to get this party started!

By the way, I started an actual advantage for Gorm's family's rep since they're sorta famous (but people may not necessarily know *him*). I called it Blood of Heroes. The idea being that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Sometime this weekend, I'll create a starter litany of deeds for Hroulf Sheafson and Sheaf Blackhand. Gorm's bio in Those Worthy of Song has a couple mentioned.

There. I removed my old post and replaced it with something flavored a bit more decidedly epic. It was hard to figure out how Howard or Moorcock would have phrased "why don't you come down here and say that?", which is really what I was going for.

Before I respond, I'd like to make any applicable rolls for reputation activation on the old dwarf. As a follow-up (either to add to what I know or to give me a second chance at the information), I'd like to make a KS: Heroes and Battles roll.

If he was at Stortrńdstad, Gorm is very familiar with that battle. Maybe he could piece something together. I'm thinking maybe Gjardsson was there as well, and maybe this dwarf is a known thane to Gjardsson. I'm just trying to get a feel for Gorm's audience here.

i've already made your reputation rolls, its not an activated ability - nor would you know if they know who you are unless they mention it or you're psychic.

You don't recall Gjard being in the battle or there being any dwarves.
