Talking Any "Old" gamers out there?

This may have been discussed here before, but since I'm new, I'm asking.

Any old-time gamers out there? Anyone remember the good ol' days of dice you had to color in with a crayon? Or when you had three alignment options for your character: Good, Neutral, Evil?
Or if you played an Elf he/she was automatically a magic-user?
Hell, how many of you remember the character term "magic-user?"

I'm 43 and been playing since '83 in college. Basically, a friend dared me to play, and so I took the dare. 23 years later, I'm still rolling polyhedrons!

Anybody else want to admit to being an old, bald, and pudgy gamer?

You young 'uns can chime in too!

Wow, someone older than me .

38, and gaming for about 25 years. A cousin showed up at our house one holiday with dice and The Keep on the Borderlands. Not really knowing what we were supposed to do, we spent the evening wiping out everything in the castle. I still remember nearly getting killed by that bastard hermit and his mangy puma.

You sorts of people make me happy. It's good to know that the hobby doesn't have to be a fleeting thing that I 'grow out of'.

I'm all about making people happy. And not growing up.

And ass jokes, but I guess that sort of goes with the above.

Ass jokes, and enough soda/beer and pizza to sink a ship!

The first adventure for me was The Lost City and the first "monster" my character killed was a wolf. Yeah!

My world view has been destroyed by Gral not being the resident old man anymore.

Well, I guess I'd be considered a young'un, but I know I'll likely never grow out of it.

I'm a young'n, but I do remember the Magic-user class. That was back in the day of Figher-man, too. Cleric is the only class to have retained its original name. This is back when the Thief, now called Rogue, was originally a supplementry class (First appeared in Dragon magazine, I believe.) I snagged a PDF of the White Box (with forwards by Gary Gygax himself) from back in the day somewhere with all that great Dungeons and Dragons Adventure Game for Chainmail stuff. That's back when as I understand it, the whole of D&D was a supplement to Chainmail. So, young player though I may be, I'm trying to understand where it all came from.

Don't worry, coffee. BRR is over twice your age. He'd been through two marriages and a war before you were even born!

Haven't even hit the halfway mark of 20 and 30 yet. So I am definitely not an old one. Though I have been told I have an old soul...

I was told to report to this thread. I just turned 31 and have played since beginning of high school. I have many many old books that I will never get rid of. I have a monsters binder that lists treasure by letters.....ooooh the stuff that comes back to mind about old games.

Remember when you were lucky enough to get 18 strenght, how nervous you got before that d100 throw? I never got to play a fighter like that way back when........

We are doing some remodeling at home; (my wife and I are preparing for our first born to arrive J )
My library is getting new floors and I had to move all the books, besides the regular books on different topics I spend way more time than nesasary on the RPG section, I would pick one and remember stuff then decide in which box it should go to, you know, just in case I need to look something up in the middle of the night
Then pick out something Id forgotten about and think how I could adapt it to our current campaign

Right now on our regular f2f group we are using the ConanRPG rules and Im doing a lot of adaptation on Leibers Fafhrd and the grey mouser stories as well as Robert E. Howard stories and spicing things up even more with some real world organized crime stories

Hey Bel, when is the little woman scheduled to drop that puppy?

And MFG, I never played a fighter with an 18/00 strength either, but, a buddy of mine once rolled an NPC for a game I was running who had one! He was a tank!
Ah, the memories.
