Does it really matter? I think we've done enough damage to the gnoll population. We've killed, what, thirty or so?

Sure my character's death on two legs, but that's not all he's motivated by, y'know.

pah, we had too many weapons anyway. Still with you taking out his sword, and Itches taking out his crossbow, we better stop this, or someone might think it was planned

The funny thing is that it really wasn't planned. Ah well, that cocky paladin needed some humility beaten into him somehow (although why breaking some of his weapons would do this, I don't know).

Hey, it just wouldn't be the same without everyone's favorite wrath-filled, enigmatic assassin.

What can I say? Cadrius brings out the best in her. Or worst. Whatever it is, he brings it out.

Ugh, thanks for reminding me about Cadrius' armor. Guess that's gone now. However I suppose it wouldn't have done to come back with all those plundered goods and not return Cadogan's bird and child's toy.

I totally forgot about the bird and the cube, but the armor came back to me at just the right moment . Child's toy indeed; Shade was very curious about it before she flew off the handle.

I'm tempted to post again right now but I'm going to wait, let everybody else move their part of the story along. Shade will be gone when Cadrius emerges from the cave and the others don't see her yet either.

I'd go ahead and post, but Maeko and Cadogan need their chance to finish the fight. In the shape the gnolls are in, it shouldn't take long -- heck, Maeko could probably drop the two in one swipe, if she did a Flurry.

I'm not stressing about the loss of weapons. Not sure how my character will react, but he doesn't know, does he?

As for the quick-kill routine, that's really what I made his focus; it made sense at the time, and I did what I could to ensure it. Imagine how he would've done with his favored weapon instead. It made more sense for the paladin to give Cadrius the sword anyway; he seemed to be better with one than anything else, and yes -- there was some symbolism involved in both swords breaking.

Oh, P. S. As for making the fight look easy, that's just his way. Even if facing off against a dragon and three hill giants, the paladin would probably stand defiant, even if they were pounding him into paladin-butter. He's not exactly the sort to show caution against an enemy, especially if there's a reasonable chance of success. Yes, he's been largely ignoring his injuries, but they're there -- expect to see a tell-tale limp in future posts (remember, he got gashed in the thigh) and maybe favoring one hand (the shoulder), but otherwise he just takes his lumps and tries not to bleed on everyone.

What? Symbolism? Deeper meanings? We don't belive in those fancy things real writers use here!

You see, Paladin could learn a thing or two from Cadrius. He gets abused all over, so while he's hurting terribly all the conflicting limps, twinges, and muscle spasms cancel each other out.

Ah, I'm not alone . Good to see you back Maeko. I think this is it for killing, for now at least. With any luck (and a little restraint on the part of Itches ) we will make the town without further incident.

Sorry Gral, I just get intimated after such a good post. Makes me stop and really think about what I want to write so as to not spoil the quality of the atmosphere that it creates.

And Cadogan I did not forget...wait, did I?
