I think we said we'd use the standard array 15,14,13,12,10,8. Then add your racial mods. And... level one, right? Or maybe level two?

Equipment, abilities and all that jazz also have to happen. Somewhere. But I guess having a firm idea what your character is about is more important. At least for starters.

I should explain my concept. This is based on the setting I cut out, but the details can change if we want to alter some or all of that.

NAME was born to one of the nomadic gypsy traders, who descended from the refugees who fled the fall of the Haelf Empire. When he grew up, he decided that living a live of wondering about was for chumps, so he started doing the bandit thing. Robbing traders, raiding isolated farmsteads, getting a bunch of people killed along the way. Eventually he had a crisis of concious - he was one of the half elves, descended from the lost and rightful nobles of the land and it was his right and responsibility to rule and protect over them.

So he turned his back on the bandit group he had established (who are probably still out there), changed his name and became a Paladin. Now he spends his times wondering the wilderness and helping the helpless. Basically he's Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, if Aragorn was actually a massive hypocrite.

The personality stays the same as before, he's on the straight and narrow no exceptions path, because he knows how easy it is to slide off it and be evil.

As to hooking up with everyone. Normally I'm a fan of having character already know each other, but that won't really work in this case. So pretty much he's willing to step in and help out anyone he thinks has a good cause or might need help. So there's that.

I don't know why, but somehow I have trouble imagining you playing a goody-goody paladin, itches. Which only means that I'm really looking forward to it. Oh, and to reading what is going on in NAME's mind as he proclaims goody-goody nonsense.

I'd take offense, but I did say that my noble Paladin used to murder people for fun and profit.

Well at least he feels bad about it.

Any questions on character creation?

Also Tash - there is no level 1 feat. You get one bonus feat that we decided on and one for being human. Later each class gets "ability score improvements" - rangers get them at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level. Since we are playing with feats, instead of taking an ability score improvement you can take a feat.

Also, I'll GM the first bit - I'm thinking I'm going to just run Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is the module that came with the starter set. By all accounts it's good, so there's that. And also it's made for beginners so it ought to help me with my GMing.

Sounds awesome.

Noted about the feat. So which shall I do away with? Hm.

I'll probably be able finalize the character tomorrow btw.

Ugh, I just could not continue work on my character until I found the right picture. (Why did there have to be a place for a picture on Gral’s sheet?) I never did really find a picture that I liked a whole lot but I think I found one that’s ok, and I put some filters on it to make it a little more ok. Anyway, I think I can live with it. I’ll upload it tonight and then… Well I think I’m almost done with the important stuff.

Did we say level 1?

Yes - level 1. And we all know I love pictures, although I tend to have the same issue finding ones I like.

And for those of you who aren't ready . . . get ready! Luckily the sheet does all the work for you, so there's that.

Alright! More or less done, I'd say.

I posted the background part in a slot reserved for background info but that never showed up. So I added it on the bottom.

... still missing a flaw, a bond and a 'background'. None of them fit though...

... oh, and missing a picture.

I see your appearance and background on the "story" tab so I'm not sure why you aren't seeing it. Also, if you don't see a background that fits just make one up.

Yep, I thought so. But that means I have to come up with one.

... hm.

... itches - are you ready? Don't blame it on the tabs. Nonono.

My character is called Name. It's an ancient Haelf name. He has a sword, it doesn't have a name. And I guess some sort of armour?

So Tash, for Jun's background here is kind of my thought process:

Setin taught him his ranger skills (Perception and Survival) which means Sleight of Hand came from his background. That leaves Stealth, which can be either a background skill or a ranger skill and either seems to fit. Given his background, I sort of envision him as very self-centered (at least in his younger days) and given to taking what he wanted. His experiences are kind of similar to the Urchin background, although his hardships seem more self imposed.

I'd call it something like "Loner" or "Rebel" - he grew up without direction and stubbornly refused any sort of advice and would not submit to any kind of discipline or follow any rules. In order to get the things he wanted he learned to take them by force or by theft - any means to get the job done, without compunction for fairness or legality. Skills of Stealth and Sleight of Hand (like the Urchin) fit quite well (which means you have a Ranger skill left to pick). That leaves two tools (or languages), a feature, and some basic equipment. Theives' Tools are one possibility, maybe a Gaming Set, Forgery Kit, Leatherworker's Tools, or Musical Instrument depending on how you envision him spending his free time.

For feature, there are a number of ways you could go - a few backgrounds give some sort of Shelter so you can say that he's canny enough to find a good place to stay (abandoned house, out of the way barn, seldom used wagon, shed) where ever he is. Being able to find transportation between places for free is another common theme, as is being able to find your way around in a particular environment. Given his background, something like being able to scrounge up a certain piece of equipment or feed himself might be appropriate.

Equipment . . . I don't know - some basic clothing, some sort of trophy from his pilfering or his time with Setin, a tool that he is proficient with, some sort of other basic piece of equipment and a little gold.

All just food for thought, of course.
