Farik had his lightsaber drawn before the thugs entered. And you moved and aimed at him after combat was declared - Quick Draw might be a Swift Action, but it still needs to happen during your place on the combat turn.

Also, Krypton: the post limit for my games is 200+ per post. Let's not get sloppy on this guys.

I didn't say I aimed I just pointed in his general direction any way I'll move the post to my spot in the initiative order kay. oh also do we have to keep the 250 word thing in combat or just say what we do with out having to go into too much detail. just for reference I'll probably come out with 250 for that anyway

No, Krypton goes first, he's got a higher Initiative check bonus. Only if thats tied do we roll against each other again.

Fair enough, but the copy of the book Shakespeare gave me says initiative check bonus first and what the GM says, go's otherwise we have to start again with the characters.

...what the hell...... POP

I didn't mean an Aim Action, I meant that you moved and put your gun in his face.

You don't HAVE to hit 250 words, but I'd like it to be close to that mark, if not over it. 250 words isn't a lot, and I know I'm not alone when I say that one or two sentances kills the mood if it keeps happening. It's why every one of my games has the notice that I expect players to be able to hit that mark regularly.

And it's not an Initiative house rule, it's the core rules.

yeah I agree but sometimes in combat all you can come up with is I pull my gun and shoot him in the face
or the knee

...Really? Because between internal thoughts, environment, the actions and words of foes, and the movements of your allies, I'd have thought there'd be plenty to comment on. o.O Besides, I've seen post from each of my players, and I know that they can easy hit 250 words.

Eh, sometimes for me 250 words is a stretch. It's a stretch that I relish, as it helps me grow as a writer, but it does slow down my posting. In some of my games, we did fast short posts, and that worked too.

Not criticizing the policy - I think it's good I'm in at least one game that enforces detailed posts.

I understand completely EC, but I'd rather have a player tell me that he's working on a detailed post but it'll take a day or two to get up than a player who answers a 700+ post with two sentances.

Dabocim: Exactly.

I think combat might have been hard for me to do detailed posts, had I picked a simpler character than R9. He's got a lot of stuff to think about, and the mental speed to do it in the short times of combat.

On the other hand, my character in Rotr, an easy-going barbarian, doesn't think in combat. When you couple that with my lack of ability to write description, most of my combat posts for her are short. In fact, my posts for her are short in general. But that works with the character, and hasn't yet been a problem.

Generally my posts are longer for my more introspective characters, because the majority of my text comes from what they're thinking and not their actions. This means that Arnine's (nope, don't like it in words; R9 it is) posts should be of good length.

Well, Shakes - in that instance, I was merely giving a brief justification for an initiative roll, rather than doing one w/o anything else. I'll have an IC post shortly.

Jeez, either I had crap rolling or I'm not doing something right. Oh well, there are worse times to roll poorly. I blame it on the dark side, clouding my dice rolling powers.
