[not sure what kind of check Kierna needs to make to pick a tactically sound location]
No roll required. Just tell me what features you are looking for.

Something elevated, where a horse's charge can be easily broken, and we have the advantage of height in our attack rolls. You said there were hills - anything close by? Preferably with rocks or trees that we can use as cover to hide behind until they are within talking distance.

Nimdor is just buying you all some time to either run or find a good defensive position.

Damn! I can't believe I forgot one. And here I was so proud for posting the CRs. I'm depressed.

Hengte is CR3.

50xp x current level for Gizerak, in accordance with the challenge rating guarantee.

[did we find that defensible position, CD?]
I plan to include a map of the position with the next installment. Link has several more hours to reply before I post it.

P.S. How do you like my new avatar? A portrait of the Despot drawn by Rich Burlew of OOTS; I kid you not.

Hey, that's cool. It seemed vaguely Burlewish.

That's a pretty sweet avatar. I missed Burlew this Saturday. He was at Pandemonium Books in Cambridge, but alas, I was in Western Mass and unable to meet the stick-like one.

Which way are those cliffs facing? North or south? The map is confusing me for some reason.

Kierna just wants to get a higher vantage point right now. She'll figure out tactics once she's set up.

I suggest that Kierna and Termix at least take up position behind the wall. I also suggest that Flarrgj take up position right in front of the gate in order to block it.

Oh, and something has occured to me, I don't believe that we ever got the platinum rings appraised. However, I've devised a method for testing whether or not they're worth enough to cast shield other without an appraisal. Gizerak needs to prepare shield other and simply try to cast it on some one using the rings as the focus. If the spell works, they're worth enough. If it doesn't, they aren't.

I probably should have suggested this when we weren't about to have a potentially dangerous encounter.

The top of the hill is in the middle of the map. At the very north edge you start to go downhill again. Regarding the cliff, let me put it this way: If you start in the middle of the map and run south, you will take 2d6 falling damage.

It reminds me of that scene in "Three Kings."

Maybe Nimdor should take a look.

would a large forgery bonus grant a bonus on a check to recognize a forgery?

CD, where are you pulling your mini pics for the opposition from? I recognize the Sharn Cuthroat from the D&D line, but the others are unfamiliar to me.

The monk and the three henchmen are Heroscape figures. I own the monk one, personally, and recognize the base of the others. This is going to be an interesting fight......

Heroscape, huh? Another source of minis images. I'm always on the look out for those.

Speaking of which, CD, would you like the CC3 files for the D&Ds, Chainmail, and Dreamblade minis? They'll save you some work, since I've already processed the images and created the symbol files.
