Immortal: the Invisible War

Anyone interested in playing with a system and setting that's way out in left field? Specifically, playing as members of a race of immortal shape-shifters who have the ability to change into animal forms, alter reality with a song (literally), and travel into alternate dimensions?

If you think I'm making this up, I'm not. Take a look here: http://www.invisiblewar.com.

The mechanics of this game are fairly straightforward, except that they rename almost every staple of the gaming genre. I'll be putting up all such info on the forum, if anyone's interested.

This game won't be running any sort of time-limits (as far as posting is concerned), and I won't sweat it if people migrate in and out of the game. Heck, I plan on trying to set up the background so that people have this exact option (as long as they're not directly involved in the story). I'm not picky about how many players I get -- I'll run it with just one for starters, and there's really no reason to limit it either -- and this can quickly get littered with side-stories, flashbacks, dream-sequences, and monologues... so there's always going to be something for me to post about.

Itches, Gral, Cad, Leech: I think this might be right up your alley, lots of possibilities for angst, soul-searching, and general long-winded introspective posts. 'Course, anyone who presents me a half-way decent concept will work -- the game actually encourages first-time players to emulate themselves, rather than a made-up persona.

Anyone interested?

Make sure you have a dictionary and thesaurus to play >.> I hear the new edition may actually be in understandable English. Meanwhile...

*Points the b/f toward this thread*

He has some experience with Immortal. I'll consider it, but he may be more interested.

Not all of my characters have angst. There's ... well in theory I could have one without angst.

I can't seem to locate the "free rules" .pdf on that site. It sounds interesting, but alas, I'm in way too many games to be joining another one.

Well, if you look under the "resources" section they say it is available for free at RPGNow.com. If it is, they are hiding it well.

I guess it keeps the downloads to a managable bandwidth level.

I'm using the original, 1st-edition rules; the one they're working on at the site (read: the one they haven't finished yet) is the 3rd edition. I plan on having a sub-thread specifically for my posting of the rules, as well as any references I can find on it.

I'll do what I can to lower the learning curve, but the game is a learning experience for those who've never played. It seems like you have to learn a lot of new terms just to get the mechanics down, but it's not that hard to figure out when it's arranged logically.

So, who can I place on the Yes List?

Those of you who want to see the rules, a brief description of the main game mechanic, etc. should go to http://online-roleplaying.com/forums...play.php?f=732

'Course, if you want to go there to join in, I'll consider it...

You remember which book? Is she the one on Art of War, holding a knife near her face?
