Glanced at it - will take a deeper look tomorrow.

OK - Cat(and mechamonkey), Cyrill and Ingram are laying in a large open courtyard (you're all scattered about - except for the monkey who is right by Cat). The air around you feels thick and stale, there are withered remnants of trees and plant life about. Nothing living. The buildings around look old, but sturdy. All have a sort of uniform sooty look to them, like they were all held above a smokey fire for awhile.

Cat you really don't remember much right now (only temporary) You're wearing hot weather turn of the century adventuring clothes. a satchel of tools and parts is nearby. the remnants of some device lie about the whole courtyard too - there are too many to collect, but it seems important to you some how.

Cyrill - at first you thought ingram fell because of his leg injury, then your realized he was reacting to the freak lightning storm that seemed to suddenly appear (you were too glowy to notice some of the more subtle effects). much of the park you were in got sucked up into the spinning vortex - much of it was shredded by the forces within the maelstrom. You got beat up pretty good in there, and aren't really sure why it stoppped.

Ingram - in the maelstrom you had all sorts of weird visions that seem just beyond your memory. you're fairly certain a deep meditation session could reach them though.

Everyone is unconscious and beat to hell (look at pictures of people who survived close encounters with a tornado and you'll get a good image of what i'm talking about - for Ingram just add licking a power line)

I just put up a space holder because i'd like to stop jabbering

You guys want to run it in a gdoc?

I don't mind doing it right here. Do you want to put up something that sets the scene and we can go from there?

Of course, I don't mind doing it in gDoc either, if you'd rather do that.

if you're doing a head count the four people that came out of the rift are: Ingram, Cyrill, Cat and Sam

Oh, Sam is with us? That's good. I think .

And as for Hero - as I said, it really is impressive how well you can fit concept to mechanics.

Wow, I like how you decided to create an in game metaphor for the experience of childbirth, that's exactly how I feel about the events of the past few days. I think all my future posts will be like this one, written during swing time for my boy.

So I don't believe I've mentioned it, but I really love everyone's choice of names - Cyrill Bishop, Ingram Specter, Samuel Mason and, of course, A Discourse Concerning Cosmological Systems; On the Marvelous Proportion of the Celestial Spheres, and on the True and Particular Causes of the Number, Magnitude, and Periodic Motions of the Heavens; Established by Means of the Thirteen Regular Metageometric Solids

For whatever reason, I've always had a thing with trying to come up with the perfect name for a character.

Naming characters is generally awful. I'm quite happy with this one. It just so happened I was reading something appropriate at the time.

There's alot more stuff about the square but its all hopelessly trashed. Much of it looks like it was melted, or frozen solid and shattered, turned inside out, or simply portaled into something else.

Gral - it will take Cat about 5 minutes to turn the lenses from Sam's rifle scope into an arcanometer (for measuring/viewing magic)

Built as - Detect: magic discrimatory, analyze, Partially Pentrative, Fragile focus, Requires an Analyze Magic roll. 18 Active Points, 5 Real points)

Since this is on the fly it counts as a part of your trinket pool (20 base points, 20 control point) - Base points are the total real points worth of gadgets you can make at one time. The control points are the maximum active point value of any individual power. So the 18 active points of the arcanometer is under the 20 point max, and it uses 5 of your 20 base points - leaving you 15 real points worth of gear left to make.

The way i sort of saw it working was that you etch the lenses with the stylus so that how you hold them determines what sort of magic you're looking at. Think a pair of polarized lens, only with alot more degrees of orientation (for ease of reference we can go with the classic DnD schools of magic : Enchantment, Necromancy, Evocation, Divination, Illusion, Transmutation, Conjuration, Abjuration, and Planar.
