How is the captain of the guard able to round up a militia which is larger than the total population of Goatsmeet? Soldiers made from mud? Cardboard cut outs?

Girls don't count towards population in a census. Everyone knows that.

Girls are allowed in the militia?

Maybe the 145 is only in town, not the surrounding areas?

The surrounding areas are twenty apparently, which seems a bit light.

It does, especially since I think you and I are both technically surrounding are residents. Unless surrounding areas only covers a mile around, then I could see the low number because so many would be left outside the circle.

Didn't I mention the small army of warforged garden gnomes? Funny...

Really though... that was an error on my part. My brain said 21, but my fingers said 210.

The surrounding area (up to five miles) used to be up around 50, but most of the families outside the village have sought refuge inside the walls since the recent increase in raids in the area. Mostly the only people that stay outside the walls now are stuborn old hunters, foresters and a family of goatherders. The sheep herder has abandoned his homestead and now keeps his sheep fenced inside the village, taking them out only to graze in the day time.

Also, I will be making some modifications to the map here and there before play starts. I got frustrated with photoshop and decided to just whip out a rough draft of the town map in paint. I think I might just take to drawing my maps and scanning them, then adjust as needed from there in photoshop. We will see as I toy around with this old version of PS (PhotoShop 6) and try to figure out how to get it doing what I want.

Alright. I have updated a lot of content today. Check out each of your individual Knowledge section in the Heroes subforum and make any final background decisions by friday if possible, sunday at the latest, so I can write up the first post over the weekend. And those who haven't done so yet, PICK A NAME! I know how hard it is sometimes to come up with that perfect name (or any name at all sometimes), but I have a really good random name generator if you're stumped. I'll post some cool ones I'm coming across as inspiration or suggestions below. If you don't have one by monday I may just strongly suggest a name of my own. Hey... some people get stuck with names they hate. Most people's parents pick their names.

Next on my agenda is to update the map, add a key to Goatsmeet's buildings, info about it's establishments, and a brief introduction of some of the key inhabitants. I have a few less important stuff I want to update with too, but they take a lesser priority at the moment.

Any last changes, questions, or character skills, feats, abilities or equipment must be in before the first prologue post.

Itches! I see you salivating all over my forums!

Oh ya... and I'm sure I don't have to ask, but please don't use your admin spell to snoop in my DM screen BRR. I'm gonna start keeping information in their that will possibly ruin the adventure if you see it. The DM screen is in my other game that's in development, so hopefully you won't go accidently stumbling upon it.

Yeah, yeah. I don't look for things which could end up being spoilers.

I'll name myself and finish my background. Those are my jobs. And to put the numbers in for my powers. So many jobs.

I dunno, I'm sorta digging the "Recourses" title at this point. Gives an artistic feel to it, as though you're making up your own spelling to tweak the world's nose.

...

Oh God, never mind. That way lies creations such as "kewl", and those are obvious precursors to an infection of the never-sufficiently-damned 133t speak. Itches, change that title; the world depends on it!

No... you had it right the first time. La Revolutiiiiioooon! Just like early programing codes evolve into newer and greater things over the years, so can l337 speak!

akWurd silense...

See!

I actually do find myself making small spelling variances when it fancies me, but less so on these forums because I'm in the presense of literary geniuses and therefore want to not look like a pimple-popping-WoW-playing-virgin-punk-teen. I however do not lower myself to the lesser forms of typical l337 speak though.

Some things shud just be spelled how they sound. Why wud you add an unnecessary 'o' and 'l' into would? Among others... but, I digress.

I'm getting quick responses and resolution to the last few pending questions about your characters so I'll start preparing the opening sequence now and possibly get the prologue up this Friday instead of next Monday.

Another note... in fact, IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT.

I am leaving on next Monday after my weekend of work (I didn't realize it was next week until just today, thought it was another week out) on a cruise to Canada until Friday, then back to work for the weekend again. It is a working vacation and I'm hoping to have internet aboard the ship at least via my phone, but am not sure if I will. IF I have internet we should be able to proceed at a regular pace. I will see when we get there. If you don't hear from me next week however then I obviously don't have service and will just talk to you that next weekend or Monday.

My head hurts now. If I kill our Gm, does that mean we win the game?

Player-driven content FTW.

I'm invinsibel though!
If there's one thing D&D has taught me, it's that having infinite HP and immunity to all status effects and spells isn't enough to protect you.

I too have learned this lesson. It's the vulnerability of any being to something that actually started me on the train of thought that led up to me creating this game, hense the name.

Again I will remind everyone...

I will be going out of the country tomarrow on a cruise and be gone for a week. I may be able to post from the boat, but don't know how much time I will want to spend on ORP. It's a working vacation, but a vacation all the same. We'll see. Otherwise I'll be back to my regular posting schedule on the 12th.

I'll try and have finished up by then. I have been horribly slack.

I have returned. Spent all day yesterday doing some R&R, but am ready to whip up that prologue. I will be working on it throughout the day today.

I want to go over the rough draft I've whipped up before posting so I'm just gonna take it to work with me this weekend and polish her up on my off time. I'll have it ready to post Sunday night/Monday morning.

I wanted to make this a very gripping first post to spark interest and help paint this part of the world and the adventure. I have a lot of new content on the way too so make sure you check all that out too after I put up the first post.

Is this game dead-in-the-water?

EJ was last on on the 16th of October, which seems to be the last time he actually posted in this thread. I suppose it's the case, really.

I'm kind of bummed out though; this whole game seemed to be a promising one. In any case, let's hope EJ is okay.

I guess my absense did serve one good purpose. It showed me who wasn't going to stick around. So... who is left?

Yes. The world is still round and gravity pulls down. I'm about to have a lovely late breakfast with the girl and kids and it's shaping up to be a great day off.

I will take any original players first then determine how many I must recruit.
