Testing OOC Thread

The general development thread is now for discussion of the system itself.

This will be for out of character comments and questions for the test runs.

Phearlock, instead of double posting, edit additional decisions into your previous post. If you need to make extra rolls, do so here, in the OOC thread.

Ok, few questions:

How do I link OOC in the main thread? <- is brand new to play-by-post games

and how much omni-gel do I/we start with, if any?

If you need to say anything OOC in the testing thread, just put spoiler tags:

(spoiler==OOC)INSERT OOC HERE(/spoiler) with brackets instead of parenthesis.

Looks like this when Done:

You start with 0 omni gel.

I get why double posting would be iffy in combat. But why is it bad right now? I don't quite understand. =/

It's just kind of an etiquette/readability thing.

Just a reminder: your mission is to eliminate the smugglers as an operation. However you accomplish that is up to you.

Ok, so how big is this turret? Is it like a large stationary fortification that would require some heavy weapons or is it something along the lines of a Lancer turret that could be taken out by small arms fire?

It's a little bit bigger than a Lancer Turret. Heavy weapons are probably not required.

so what about my follow the krogan strategy? I'm thinking me and taigo could run in line and then we'd run behind said turret while he starts controlling it and I cover him.

can taigo modify the turret to bring it under our control as well as him being able to run behind me for cover?

You could try it, but being in a straight line would be a bad idea. The turret can only track one target at a time, but would you all want to be in a straight line as a hail of bullets came directly at your line, and enemies off to the sides take potshots at you?

The whole "Krogan CHARGE!" strategy might have merit, but you probably don't want to be right behind him when he does it.

You guys do have squad comm devices built into your armor, you could scan frequencies with a computer use check to find the channel the smugglers are communicating on, and chat with them.

By the way, let me know if you think we're going about this a bit slowly, I mean the point of this is to get some useful testing on how the system works. Which generally means getting some combat done. And we seem to be taking our sweet time trying to avoid that in addition to slow responses everywhere. =P

So you know, just poke me if you want me to take a more lethal route anytime soon.

Testing skills is part of it too, as well as gear and creative solutions.

Just remember that your objective is to completely end their operation permanently.

how do I make a role that adds in my modifier for intimidation? I get the (roll0) with brackets instead but how do I add stuff to that.

That roll0 is what happens if you submit the post: you can't edit in rolls or change rolls after you've posted it.

You need to add in the bonus before you post it for the first time. (roll)1d20+16(/roll) for example, would look like this: 30 , the 16 here is the bonus.

Make sure that when you roll a check, you identify what the roll is for.

I'm guessing that was an intimidate check, but I'm not completely sure.

So, that's a 15 - 10 luck penalty, for a net of 5. Spectacular.
