Yep, but only on an even lower roll I think. Less than 5 if I remember right. Course allot of DMs don't the diplomacy rules as they are in the book, since they kind of suck.

I do not beleive that is correct either. I have never heard of used a "critical miss, but only if your total is lower than 5". I'm pretty sure was a house rule, somewhere...

Diplomacy was never good, always broken... I have heard that their weren't any diplomacy rules in the fourth edition...

PHB 63: no automatic success or failure with skill checks. As for the Diplomacy rules, my roll wasn't bad enough to worsen his attitude, unless there was a really big check modifier. Oh well. If his attitude was already "helpful" then the role was superfluous.

Ug! That's enough rules talk.

Critical miss on attack rolls is also a house rule. There's only automatic miss on a 1; you can't do any worse than that without the DM wanting you to fail.

“ Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over? ”
Even core-only can surprise you. I just learned that Tree Shape is dismissed as a free action, and now I almost want to take levels in rogue. Too bad it's personal only.

Alcotroll: You said that you like to use different colours for different languages, yes? Unless you had something else in mind, how about:

Common = Normal Grey
Undercommon = Black
Dwarven = Brown
Elven = Cyan
Giant = Sand
Goblin = Olive
Orc = Orange
Draconic = Red
Sylvan = Green
Druidic = White
Celestial = Yellow
Abyssal = Violent Violet!
Infernal = Unreadable Red!

Scythe: I noticed that Lionel doesn't have a divination spell at 2nd level. Neither Web nor Invisibility are divination, so you can only prepare 2 spells at that level. He also has no way to use his wand of cure light wounds (unless he plans on giving it to Darriel, or Malachi takes ranks in UMD).

EDIT: Oh, and you can also add another entry to your skills:
--Spellcraft (divination) +16 (6 ranks, +3 int, +3 feat, +2 synergy, +2 specialist)

I suggest we just say what language we're speaking in. Using colors will just make things more confusing.

Really, I thought Invisibility was a divination spell for some reason, odd... i'll go and replace Web with something...

Why couldn't I use the wand? I am spellcaster, and I was pretty sure you didn't need Use Magic Device to cast spells from a wand, just needed to be a spellcaster? (I could be wrong, I've never actually used any wands that much)

Would it be too much to ask to have an extra known spell? (we are in the metropolis or arcane knowledge, after all ). I would be going for a divination spell, since it's my specialty.

If not, well, I'll just replace my second level spell choices...

Anyone can use a wand... if the spell that you cast with said wand is on your spell list. That's the deciding factor.

Ooooooh... That's why, thank you. Man, I haven't played/created a DnD character for such a long time! World of Darkness appeals much more to my liking!

That's my preference too, but if we're going with multicolour languages I think it's best that there's no confusion.

Well, I suppose he's still swimming in that paperwork, but he is still lurking around. Something I do often. Right now in fact.

Just noticed...

Well, there's the Collegiate Wizard feat from Complete Arcane... but that's obviously not in the PHB. My suggestion is that you buy scrolls and scribe them into your spellbook. A 1st level spell is 25 gp and a 2nd level spell is 150 gp, so you could easily afford to expand your book.

Huh? Are there characters like that in GTA4? I don't have a PS3 or Xbox 360. I do have GTA San Andreas on both PS2 and PC though. It's really annoying that the PC version has this bug where the sound all cuts out when it rains.

Bah, my computer couldn't handle San Andreas, let alone the new one. Have to admit, I've rather gone overboard on the cliches though...

The way we'll play this, is that you blokes can decide which place/ name/ plot hook looks most fun and then pay 'em a visit. Obviously this isn't a party set up for sneaky stuff, so (without giving too much away) expect to be following the James Bond school of investigation.

Anyone who asks for a dry martini will be shot.

Cool. I think I'll summon a swarm of spiders into someone's bed. Or perhaps plunge somebody into a tank full of nature's ally sharks.

Oh, wait... unless you mean that we're in the James Bond role.
