Background:

While Minnesota might introduce himself as a "purveyor of fine antiquities and artifacts" or some other derivation of the same, his actual profession and practices are somewhat less refined than his official title.

Born to Irish and Scandinavian parents on Bernadette, Minnesota takes on the characteristics of both with his sharp yet refined features from his mother's ancient Norwegian side while his red hair and fiery temperament to match flows from his father's Emerald Isle veins. His birth wasn't exactly planned at that time, him being three months premature and all but the Alliance medical facilities helped save his newborn life while his parents continued to plans for their homesteading on NewHall. After a month in neonatal, the family of five remained on Bernadette for nearly 23 more years, the plans for settlement always taking another step back as his father continued to chase bigger and better business opportunities. It was there, on a trip to New Paris that MP gained his new lifelong love of all things historical. On a trip to the capital city, the family visited Prometheus, the ark ship-turned-museum from the great Exodus. While the family seemed to care little for the displays of ancient items, artifacts from Earth-that-Was and historical tomes, Minnesota was fascinated and spent the entire day until closing slowly moving from one section to another. His new obsession had been noticed by the curator who had been making his daily rounds through the museum and before the two knew it, MP's charm and wit (alongside the curator's need for an apprentice) had landed the young man an internship with the museum. For several years Minnesota worked at the museum and while working the displays, artifacts and collections was enjoyable, by far his favorite was accompanying the curator on acquisition trips. From haggling with shady local "merchants" to schmoozing silver-spoon elites for donations or purchases, MP learned the tricks of the trade that came with the somewhat gray art of museum procurement.

MP's apprenticeship turned into tragedy when, on his 22nd birthday, he and the curator were on Verbena when an explosion in the local (and massive) Alliance military factory killed hundreds of people and destroyed the structure. Mr. Thomason was killed instantly and Minnesota, while dazed, amazingly came out virtually unscathed. The bombing sent the world into an instant economic depression andófar worseócreated an atmosphere of paranoia, fear, and insurrection which led to riots, looting and burnings. Minnesota was trapped with no way off world until the same "antiquities dealers" that he had met earlier that day came across him and pressed him into their crew.

The rest, as they say, is history. Alliance, Independent, Blue Sun Corporation, The Corone Mining Syndicate, Iskellian Technology Solutions, Unified Reclamation and more...he worked for them all as an "independent heritage reclamation expert" in the "employ" of the Salty Dog and her crew of professional burglars, forgers and smugglers. For five years MP worked to save money to buy his release and during that time showed his innate talent for space pilotage and spotting (as well as creating) fakes that could easily pass muster in professional museums or cash registers alike. Much to his chagrin, he even found himself eager for the next assignment; the thrill of the find, chase and recovery was like no other.

Finally, after a series of double-, triple- and how ever many other- crosses, the crew broke up on Santo leaving MP high and dry yet again without much to his name other than some petty cash and skills. Out of options and cash, Minnesota thought that he'd try his hand at one last game before trying to make his way back into the Black for yet another hunt...
