Ooc

All right folks. We are good. If anyone needs to get in touch with me they can use this thread, PM, or ask for my Screenname and I'll send it to you. I'll post a history of the ship once we get some character concepts worked out but right now it's enough to say she was one of the first ships built after the first cylon war and was on light anti-pirate duty near Canceron when the cylons returned.

Also I had a brief idea that in order to keep from stretching for ways to keep everyone included I'd allow for two characters per player. That way if for example, the knuckledraggers have nothing interesting going on the players don't get bored. Thoughts?

2 players per character may be for the best if there is only going to be 3 of us. Which Strarting Level will we be starting at? Should all characters be military? And are we starting as CAGs and XOs, nuggets, or somewhere in between?

I was thinking of having an average level of veteran. So each player could play two veteran level characters or a recruit and a seasoned veteran level. To keep everyone together I think each person should have at least one character on the flight deck as a pilot or knuckledragger. The other could be marine, bridge crew, or a major civilian, whatever you think would work well. Rook or commander, if you can justify it I'll take it.

Oh and since this fleet is a replacement for the canon one a dieing leader and someone with the destiny trait would be allowed though not required.

That's a good idea. That will let us fill numerous roles and experiences while keeping players "equal" in power. The one character I plan on playing for sure is a Raptor ECO or Pilot (thinking Helo here). He will either be Recruit or Veteran level depending on what else I decide to play. For my other character I am considering everything from an XO to a mechanic or possibly ever a civilian so we shall see.

Sounds good. Personally I'd love to see an XO since it will give you guys a presence in the upper command structure. Still whatever you want though. You have the rules right? I know you know Serenity's from things you've said but the character creation has some slight differences with this ruleset.

Yeah, I've got the rules. Instead of XO I may go Officer of the Watch (Lt. Gaeta's original position). That would still maintain a major presence in the CIC while being a little less experienced and offering room for improvement. Or I could go something else entirely

Ok, so for my second character I decided to use the random attribute generation table and see where that got me. I ended up rolling stats that I think will make for a pretty good XO. He is only Veteran level though, so I figure he will be young and unproven (for an XO). So I will be playing a Veteran Level XO and a Veteran Level Raptor ECO.

That works. I was toying with the idea of one of the senior officers being a little green anyway.

I've got both characters pretty much done stats wise. Is there a particular format you want the character sheets in?

Nothing in particular springs to mind. I would like a brief write up on history and personality included though.

I'll be working on characters this weekend, but here are some ideas/concepts.

I'll likely try playing a version of Apollo or Starbuck (I've met the originals and seen the new ones). So likely a fancy Viper pilot with some attitude for my first character.

My other character could be a version of Boomer or the like. Will ponder that some. Will our Battlestar have "old" or "new" Vipers? If we have the new will they be retrofitted to not be taken over by the Cyclon virus?

I have a character sheet template used for BSG on another pbp site that might work.

I've been thinking about that. I'm thinking that the ship hasn't been to dry dock in awhile and as such it and it's MKVIIs haven't been upgraded with the CNP yet. It's an old ship and low on the priority list.

Good, so we'll not be screwed then. Good, I can enjoy taking the fight to those machines.... damn those Cyclons...

Just to make things easier, everyone should probably post their characters in the sub thread with the title PC: (Character rank and name).

Do you have anyone as the CAG NPC wise or would you prefer it be a PC?

I'm partially done with my Viper pilot chick, so she could be the senior if needed (could bump her up to seasoned veteran instead of veteran).

As for my other character, I'm still pondering, but likely could go with someone on the flight deck or command center, perhaps a communications or weapons specialist type.

I have someone who could serve as either CAG or as Senior Marine depending on what you guys decide on. So don't feel like you need to take a certain role.

Any of those work. So would the weapon specialist be one of the ones manning or in charge of the capital scale guns?

Okay, cool, I'll just keep her as a veteran then Viper pilot. As for the weapon specialist/gunner, I was thinking of someone who worked on/manned such a battery, perhaps one near flight deck or bridge.

Allright. That sounds like it could work out.

Also I just posted the stats on the ship herself and I'll be throwing up the Commander later today.

I have one character up and am about to get the other one up. I took some liberties with Commander Thomas in my description of Colonel Stevens, so let me know if everything looks okay there. If you have any questions let me know.

They both seem to be good. I might have some more questions about details later but for now they both hold up. My only issue is with Stevens’ rank. Given how young he is I think it would make more sense for him to be a major at this point. And perhaps just a couple of years older. Say 28? Other than that you’re fine.

28 is fine. I don't care about the exact age. I was just shooting for very young, but not too young. I think the rank is more important the the age, because both Tigh and Fisk (XO of Pegasus) were Colonels, so that seems to be the standard rank for that position.

You could have him be a Colonel then. It does make sense. I have trouble seeing one under the early thirties though no matter how talented. I've been asking around and that seems to be the general consensus. So bump that up a tad more and we're fine. He'd still be considered young for the job he's doing so we still have the green element in there.

Is that cool with you?

That works. Not quite ridiculous but still young enough that some folks might not trust him completely.
