Hi and welcome to the site! It is always wisest to begin at the beginning.
In brief, though, this site is dedicated to play-by-post role-playing, which is more or less using a forum to play an RPG that is normally played in person. If you've ever played any RPG in person then that should help the whole thing make sense. If you haven't, well, you'll have to learn a bit more. The site merely hosts a bunch of unrelated games. Those seeking to start a game will post in the Character Acquisition forum, those seeking to play in a game will respond to the ads there. |

Well I have lot's of learning to do, and I will get started, seeing as i've never seriously RP'd in real life, but I am willing to learn, it is very interesting to me

Well you've already started off fairly well by not simply barging into a random game and posting

How do I "create a character"?

So, let me try to explain . . .
Perhaps you've played Checkers? It is a defined game, with defined rules, with two players. If we wanted to play checkers on this message board, we'd need to work out how to communicate our moves in the game - maybe we'd take pictures of the board and post them here or something. Playing an RPG on this site is similar to that. One of the more popular RPGs played on this site is D&D (version 3.5) - the rules for the game can be found freely here. You can have a look to get an idea of how such a game is played. However, there are lots and lots of different RPGs, and they vary widely in how characters are created and the rules for playing them. The site here is comprised of lots of different games using a number of different rule sets. Each game is a self contained unit, so you can't just create a character for the site. You create a character for a particular game, if that makes sense. Er, does that make sense? |

Yes, I under stand haha. For each "game" we would create a character for that game. I will read on the link you sent me( thank you so much as I have no priot exp.). In mean time would you care to start a small game with me, just as pratice or even just for fun to get the hang of things ?

Ah, sadly I am not the best at game mastering - and frankly, I should be posting in the games I'm already in

That's a good place to start, but you might want to look into finding a gaming group near where you live to get some live experience. I find it's far easier to learn the rules in person at first, where people can more easily and quickly explain things. If you're having difficulty, your town library or FLGS (friendly local gaming store) are great places to start looking for people who play.

We all have to start somewhere. And I stand by my remark - there are many, many really stupid things they might have done but didn't.
