Vampire: the Masquerade

Would anybody be interested in a Vampire: the Masquerade game here? I might be able to run one if there is enough interest

I'd be interested. Which version of the rules would you be using?

I'll take a max of 6 players and will be posting the plot either tomorrow or thursday.

You're in Darius. That's two players so far

Any more takers?

EDIT: Please take note that this will be a Camarilla campaign. Independants will be acceptable, however Sabbat kindred will not be allowed...at least for now

What's the setting (city/rural/modern/medieval)? Are we playing elders or neonates? I'm an experienced Storyteller and player (also playtested for White Wolf's Vampire/Werewolf lines). I'd like to play a Gangrel if possible or a Verbena mage/shifter if any crossover stuff is permitted.

Lando, get your butt down to our RIFTs game, DANG IT!

Moderate interest here, mostly depends on what the anwswers to Lando's questions might be.

The setting will be modern city-based (exact city TBA). Most likely somewhere in California (possibly San Fransisco) but I may go with somewhere in Europe (this will be announced before character creation begins, I should know for sure later today/early tomorrow).

Everybody will be playing young vamps. You won't be freshly-turned vamps though (i.e. you've been a kindred for a few months to a few years).

Gangrel is fine, any of the non-sabbat clans is going to be allowed.

As for crossovers I have to say no because I don't have the books on the other systems.

Will there be a strict generation cap, given that we're supposed to be young vamps?

Well we'll be doing character creation as per the core rules (so you can take the Generation background) with the following revisions:

1) Once your "new" vampire is made (i.e. you've done the standard character creation process), roll 4d6+1 to determine your age since the Embrace (in months). This will mean you were embraced 5-25 months ago.

2) Depending on your age, you will have the following benefits:

5-14 months: No generation change.

15-23 months: You may take a free "Generation" dot - OR - gain 10 bonus experience points

24-25 months: You may take two free "Generation" dots - OR - gain 1 Generation dot and 10 bonus experience points - OR - gain 25 bonus experience points.

3) You gain bonus experience points equal to 2x your kindred age. So if you were 11 months old as a kindred, you would gain 22 experience points.

Example: Bob rolls 25 for age. He has the following options:

-He can take (25x2) 50 experience points and 2 Generation dots or
-He can take (25x2) 50 experience points and 1 Generation dot and 10 more experience points
-He can take (25x2) 50 experience points and 25 more experience points.

Special Rule: These bonus experience points cannot be used to purchase the "Generation" dot. I don't allow players to purchase this background beyond what they selected during their original character creation. If you want to lower your generation, you have to do it the old fashion way by sucking on another kindred.

However, if you took Generation 3 during character creation and then rolled 24 or 25 for age, you may boost that to Generation 5 (giving you an 8th Generation kindred).

This will give the group probably one or two quite strong kindred, and several "better than newbie" kindred.

So far we have:

TreyKincaide
Darius
AoM
Belkregos

I'll take a max of two more players.

Additional Campaign Information:

The campaign will be commencing in Berlin, Germany. I'll be putting up a description of the plot shortly.

What if you want to play a Harbinger of Skulls from the Sabbat Handbook, they have to start off at least 8th generation, and i have rules for them and would have to use the Dark Ages book for generation since they dont make modern night vampires. Just a question cause I like playing them and they are a interesting group. Oh and they aren't actually sabbat they have a long streak of revenge against the Giovanni thats why they joined the Sabbat but if you wont allow one then thats cool if i could play something else if you had any openings for a player still.

I'd love to join, the White Wolf games are amazing! But I currently only own 2nd edition V:TM, how out of date will I be? Could I still play using 2nd ed. or will I be too out of date? Is it possible that I could be updated or someone could give me the missing information? If there's any possibility of me joining without screwing things up or what-have-you while owning only 2nd ed. I'd love to play, otherwise, I guess you'll have to go on without me (but look at my sig! I love Vampire! Show me some Humanity.)

Mad Mardigan - I'm going to have to say no to the Harbringers. As you said they are required to be 8th generation or lower and the book actually says "Unless the Storyteller plans on running an elders game, it is impossible to create a Harbinger of Skulls under the new character generation system." There is space for you though, but you'll have to play a different clan.

Xaden - I'm not really sure what is different from 2nd to 3rd. I doubt that it's a very big difference though, so you should be able to play if you are interested.

To bad it's strictly vampires cause I can make a wicked Mokole, but how about a Kindred of the East are they allowed to be played, oh also are there any limits on merits and flaws? Reason I ask about the Kindred of the East is because they are slightly more hardcore then your average vampires.

Xaden - The differences between 2nd and 3rd are a revised combat system and a few slight tweaks (things like Malkavians getting Dementation instead of Dominate). And there's a metaplot twist as well: Gangrel have seceded from the Camirilla and become independants, Ravnos has risen and been killed along with most of its clan, and all Tremere Antitribu have been killed off.

bodog- so if I take 5 in generation background and then roll an amazing 24-25, I become 6th generation? Are you sure you want that? Seems like some PCs might creep into elder territory.

I also own Kindred of the East, but it only came out in 2nd Ed. so some of its powers would be in need of tweaking. (Just offhand I know that the 3-dot Blood Shintai power essentially turns a 2nd edition damage into 3rd edition damage. (Which would be no bonus at all in 3rd edition.))

I doubt that there are many Keui-jin in Berlin, however. So we might be better off not including them.

What are people planning on playing? Should we attempt to get as much variety as possible?

Mad Martigan - you'll have to send me the info on the clan you want from the East. I don't have the sourcebook, but I'd be willing to review any material.

Against perhaps my better judgment, I am planning on playing a Malk.
