We do have rope. Fugen wouldn't think of traveling without it.

Of course, he stayed back to tend the horses, so you guys have the oppotunity to throw Linus before Fugen catches up.

Or you could wait till Fugen catches up, tie a lasso around Linus' waist, then do some halfling tossing.

Erp, did I really just agree to having Linus tossed into enemy territory alone? Time to roll up a new character, I guess...

The door opens outward, by the way.

15 feet to the top of the wall over the door.

What about other parts of the wall? Also, whats the wall like? How hard would it be to climb?

Given that its a fortification gate, that would appear to be obvious to me. That makes it harder to force open.

So, how long are people going to just stand outside the gate? Long enough for Fugen to catch up, or are you going to act while he's still tending the horses.

Well, since Fugen's got the rope, and we don't know that IC, I'm not sure how long we'd wait, but I do know that no one has broached a halfling toss IC, and Linus sure as hell isn't going to suggest it himself.

Actually, I think that Flarrgj's suggested it.

To answer Fugen's question: It will take one round per mount to picket them.

Exarzun asked about the climb DC: It is 20 (typical wall in a ruin as per the PHB). The lowest point on the wall is 15 ft. Some parts extend up to the remains of the roof (20 ft).

And what would be the DC to throw linus? It would be a STR check i assume... Probably very hard... I got a climb mod of +3, anyone got higher? I'm willn to use a action point on it, i think i have a few left, everyone ok with that?

Your climb will likely be more effective than a halfling toss, although the toss would be more amusing.

Actually, you know what might work even better? Having Flarrgj boost Linus (possibly with some help) and then having him climb what's left (which may be no more than 5ft or a simple pull up.

Hmmm. Here is my ruling on halfling hurling. It would be a variation on the high jump. His starting point would be 6 ft in the air (Flarrgj's release point). He would need to reach a height of 12 ft, since he could pull himself up the remaining 3 ft. 12-6=6 ft difference. As per pg77 of the PHB, multiply by 3 to get the DC. 6x3 = DC 18. Flarrgj is assisting, so if he rolls higher than DC10 on a strength check, then he gives Linus a +2 bonus on the roll. Bottom line: DC18 jump skill check, with a +2 assist bonus if Flarrgj assists. DC15 climb check to pull himself up the remaining distance (unless the original jump exceeds DC 27).

Alternatively, Flarrgj could give Linus a boost up to climb. That would be a DC20 climb check, with +2 assist bonus if anyone succeeds in a DC10 climb check.

Upon review, the ruling above seems pretty official-looking for something I just pulled out of my ass.

Well, unless linus has skill poins in Climb, it seems the halfling hurl is easier (DC 18, 16 if Flarrgj makes his aid check, compared to DC 20), i say we try it, worste case senario is Linus gets a few bruses and we try the climb...

It looks like the boost. The DC was easier on the toss, but the toss requires an extra roll to pull up the rest of the way.

I felt the boost also had the least punitive results for failure. As much fun as it would have been to watch a halfling fly through the air, Linus is not the kind of guy who would go for that in any other situation.
