Verily we now have a home to call our own and a world to weave about us.

Question: is anyone currently planning on being a multi-class non-human?

I am making a half-elf cleric/fighter.
Do I just pick one or the other at each level? And I would have just one at 1st?

Edit: Just looked at the Visitor's thread. Haha, what? I level in both simultaneously? What's stopping me from being a cleric/fighter/thief and getting like a dozen abilities at level 1?
Edit 2: Besides the obvious fact that that's not a valid combination, I guess. A hypothetical Fighter/Magic user/Thief then.

Nothing, but it will take you twice as long to hit level 2.

Well, it will take you 3 times as long if you split XP three ways.

Poking at the XP tables (individual tables for each class? wtf?), it seems like if I dual-class she'll be just sort of behind, either a full level or just half of a level depending on if I compare it to cleric or fighter (clerics need less xp than fighters?).
Also are we even going to hit level 6?

Who wants to play a cleric? They had to make it attractive somehow.

I would guess we will never hit level six. Indeed, I would guess that we would end up rerolling our first character within the first month of PBP game time. Have you ever read Knights of the Dinner Table or any of the Hackmaster books? It pokes fun at 1E, but it's not really wrong about how frequently characters bite it. I once played through the aforementioned Tomb of Horrors and rolled up 6 characters in the space of one single game session.

So did we actually decide to use the 4d6b3 rolls?
If so, I think I'm just going to cheese it and go for cleric/fighter. Also double specialize in heavy mace. Smack things good.
Especially if we're so likely to die.

Edit: What the fuck is triple specialization? Argh.

Edit 2: How do you tell if a weapon is two-handed? "Heavy"?

Where are you looking for the weapon specialization stuff? I don't see it in my book might be overlooking something.

I've got it under Fighter in my OSRIC pdf, after "NB," whatever that means.

Weapon Specialisation (optional): With the permission of the GM, weapon specialisation may be selected during character generation. If weapon specialisation is not selected during character generation, it remains forever unavailable to the character, barring some magical or divine intervention.
If weapon specialisation is in play, fighters may take a second proficiency in the same weapon as the first, granting them one extra attack every 2 rounds with the weapon (hence 3/2 attacks with a melee weapon at 1st level, 2/1 at 7th and 5/2 at 13th), +1 to hit and +2 damage owing to their skill. Specialisation costs one proficiency "slot" for melee weapons and crossbows, and two "slots" for missile weapons other than crossbows.
Double Specialisation (optional): For melee weapons that are not polearms or two-handed swords, a third weapon proficiency may be used to specialise further; this increases combat bonuses to +3 to hit and +3 damage with the weapon.
Perhaps one of the discrepancies between the actual book and OSRIC?

Huh. Have to be careful with this OSRIC thing then.
So much for that. Still going with Cleric/Fighter.

Cap'n Gavis, do you just want the info in the sheet, or can I also write down all the derived numbers and things like saves and such?

I was more worried about being woefully under-armored.

I meant things like encumbrance or saving throws or thac0.
Also hp?

1) Thac0 doesn't exist yet and unless you REALLY want to reference and type out every to-hit number for every AC and save go ahead but I have the charts in the book to go by and can give you a simple hit/miss response to rolls.

2) I never really pay attention to encumbrance in any edition of D&D unless you try to carry waaaaaay more than seems reasonable with you.

3)I am giving you max HP for first level (which may be brutally OP for you multi-classers so I think you guys can actually roll your HD)

It seems like multi-classes should have the average of their two HD. Usually when you level you divide each roll by 2. So whatshername should have 9 hp, the average of the d8 and the d10.
Anyway I'm still not solid on these rules so whatever you're comfortable with.

Also yay about ignoring encumbrance.
In most games I play I end up valuing a bag of holding more than pretty much anything else.

I know how you feel my 3.5 characters were constantly getting the secret chest cast for them with tenacious spell added in so they could store crap for up to 120 days without having to leave it somewhere (and thus available for the DM to say "someone stole that item")
