that was in no way boreing.

You are develping a good character, and i look forward to seeing more inside of her.

If anything lets the group down its itches shallowness, he has depth, its just not obvious . . .yet

you should start to see it after this night

Please Gral, unlike me you don't ramble on and on and on about the trials of your character's soul. I truly loved that post. It was amazing. I think I need to pay more attention to your writing. You can say things with emotion but still keep it relatively succinct. There's a great amount of detail, insight, and development without being overly verbose. I like it.

Well Itches, stop talking and start doing. I want to see what you have in store.

Believable she is for sure. Seriously, a few posts back I was tempted to ask you if you were a woman...

well a small amount of time needs to pass before i can impliment what i have in plan.

i tell you what i'll make a post right after this, that will set things in motion. feel free to muck up my plans, but i ask one favor if it is possible. when peoplego to sleep, dnt post going to sleep and waking up in the same one, allow some time for stuff to happen in the night.

you dont have to, but it would be apreachiated.

Seriously. Not to turn this into a worship thread, but I sincerely admire your writing Gral, for many reasons. Not many men can write a woman well. I know when I do I leave a lot to be desired (they end up more like a guy in drag than anything else). So don't apologize for gifting us with more insight into Shade's soul. I won't allow it.

This game is, without a doubt, one of my favorite's. I usually like to free up plenty of time to ponder what's going on before sitting down and letting Cadrius go to work. Perhaps it's the control, perhaps it's the players, perhaps it's the combination of everything. I truly love this game and I'm ecstatic to be a part of it.

There, I think I'm done gushing now. Sheesh.

Serously again, I hope I can become as good as you people are, I'm just feeling my way into character development for a while before I try 'heavy' plot devising

your doing good Maeko, at least as good as me

and by all means lets turn this into a worship thread. Cadirus is right, playing female characters is something that is beyond my abilities.

And i would like to apologise for the crappy ness of my last post. but it laid the ground work for some stuff to happen. Just remember people, nothing need happen soon (nudge nudge , wink wink)

Well, I don't know what to say. Thank you all for the praise - it means alot coming from writers like you. Itches and Maeko: I think that your work has been very well done thus far and I really like the way the story is progressing.

I really love this game too; like Cadrius I find myself spending alot of time considering my responses before I post. And Cadrius, your portayal of a fallen paladin is what got me interested in this game again. I always look forward to your posts.

Well shucks. I honestly can't take any credit. My best writing, be it pbp, prose, or poetry always comes from within. It's just something that spills out. I've never had the opportunity to play such a tragic character and I was determined not to let the game die merely because I was the last player.

As far as Itches and Maeko go, well, you guys really do a good job. Itches you bring in a comedic and light-hearted element that's desperately needed. Maeko brings in a very exotic flavor with a female monk. Both characters have distinct personalities and as a player I look forward to seeing more about them.

Ok then, let's get back to the story. We probably should have renamed this to "Role Posting Self-Esteem Thread."

In all seriousness I truly am glad to be part of this. Just wanted to make sure you guys knew I appreciated each of your efforts.

Dont denie it Cadirus, your the star of this show, followed closely by the allways fun Shade. I Fear that Maeko and i are mearly the back ground for your posts.

Now how do you like your knolls? Scambled or sunny side up?

Hrrm. Anybody have some basic stats for these beasties? I haven't DMed in years and I've only cracked the 3e MM once or twice. If I recall correctly, they've got reach which will definitely make things interesting.

Sorry for the silly question, but how does combat work in free-form?

Like everything else free-form: make it up as you go along .

Seriously, you can be really formal about it and declare initiative and actions and roll for everything (policing yourself of course). Or you can be really lax and just write in whatever you'd like, as long as remain reasonably close to what is possible within the 3e rules.

I usually generate a few random numbers in Excel to simulate some D20 rolls and go from there.

Yep, I usually like to roll (when I have dice around) and see what happens. Of course you can create a much more exciting fight if you bend the rules slightly for the sake of the story. Cinematic battles are always more fun than beatdowns. That's why this fight should be interesting. Cadrius has neither armor nor shield. I'm sensing he's going to take a beating.

By the way, what's the CR on gnolls anyway?

Actually, Shade is unarmored at the moment as well thanks to her moonlight dip. Her fine studded leather is currently protecting a tree . . .

Then again, we're a bunch of level 4 characters squaring off against two gnolls, we'll probably be ok.

If it was an ogre or worse yet an alsip. We'd be in trouble.

I'm not exactly sure how things were laid out but here's how I was picturing it when Shade and Cadrius show up:

.............G2..
..G1....I........
...................
...................
...................
.....S......C....

I=Itches, S=Shade, C=Cadrius, G1=Gnoll1, G2=Gnoll2

Cadrius whistles, bringing the gnolls charging south to meet us. Cadrius steps forward and engages gnoll2, Shade tumbles northwest around Cadrius and continues to a flanking position on gnoll2. Gnoll1 had rushed up to meet Shade, who isn't there anymore (sorry about that Cadrius). That leaves the battlefield looking kind of like this:

....................
...........I........
...............S...
.............G2..
......G1....C...
...................

I'm not sure where Maeko is. Shade scored a decent hit (9 damage thanks to sneak attack).

Scratch one gnoll. He had 3 hit points left after Shade's attack and the minimum Cadrius does while swinging his sword two handed is 5.

Maeko is here, I counted a full move action to get on the other side of G1.
Sorry, I had to write in a hurry and have to go, now.
BTW Itches, I threw the sword for you to catch, not AT you
