go with your gut then
making people jump through a simple hoop is going to catch no one out
I don't think you achieve anything by making people apply

True, but this sets expectations a little better. Before, the expectation was that you are entitled to play in this game. Now (hopefully) the expectation is that you can play in this game if you play nice.

I said WHAT???...

IIRC, you asked in the OOC if the game was dead, to which Mega replied "Yes".
I don't recall that myself. Care to point me to the post in question?
I browsed the OOC-pages 4-6 , which Is the point where I got "On Hiatus" and haven't found anything like it.

I did mention my concern about the game's untimely demise in chat to LeeCHeSSS , but nothing definite.

Black Plague: I'll post about the curfew being lift was soon as everyone goes to bed, my logic being it would be easier to keep the town under curfew this late at night and lift it in the morning, then to lift it now.

Mega: Yeah, I looked for it as well but I didn't see it. Maybe LeeCHeSSS created a new thread for it, which I later deleted. I distinctly remember you saying something to the effect of "It was going so well, too."

Who are we waiting for? Cadogan is spirited off and Cadrius is in prison.

Nicos, Shade, Laronar and Blarth have wandered off to bed.

That leaves Mega and Maeko by my count.

Hey, come on now. You know the old phrase. "Always leave them wanting more." Guess it worked.

But BP is right. I'm trying to keep things relatively synchronous with you all.

Mega and Maeko?

Seems about right Gral. I say give them until tommorow before pressing forward anyway.

And again, I intrude: Since you have been having problems with Nestro(sa)/Enigma I have been working on a modification:

I'm going to install a hack that allows moderators to ban users from specific threads (either temporarily or permanently). Maybe you might even loosen the recent requirements because of it.

Stay tuned.

Thanks, LeeCHeSSS. It is definitely a good thing, although I do hope I won't need to use it.

However, I don't see it loosening up the new structure around here. My idea is to prevent the stuff before it happens rather than have to clean up afterwards.

Hey Maeko, do you read any Lynn Abbey stuff?

In The Wooden Sword and Beneath the Web Basi is what she calls the essence of magic, kind of like Mana.

I just thought it an odd coincidence that you use that as an arcane word. Unless, of course, that word has some meaning that I am unaware of.

What's this? Have we been seeing the kinder, gentler side of everyone's favorite assassin? How interesting!

On a different note I've been toying with skipping the whole interrogation scene altogether. We all know the details, all you'd be getting is Cadrius telling his side of things (which you'll get at the trial anyway) and the Kulper's response. Thoughts on this? I could crank it out if someone wants to see it.

Yes, well - her private thoughts and her public persona are two different things .

Oddly enough, Maeko (the character) challenged alot of her opinions about what it was to be self sufficient and strong. In a way, Shade wished she could be a little more like Maeko - less volatile, I guess, so the monk's leaving affected her pretty deeply.

And I forgot to answer your other question.

I assume the trial will occur after the interrogation. I don't have a problem with you skipping forward if you want, though I'm always interested to hear Cadrius' interpretation of events.

Of course, if you are planning on including it in the trial then either way really works for me.

I'm not familiar with Lynn Abbey, Gral, it's an interesting coincidence, though.
In fact for Maryam's formulas I'm using a Swahili dictionary: 'basi' means 'enough'.

I don't know what authors you read, but I really like her stuff. She co-edited the "Thieve's World" series back in the eighties - I don't know if you remember them. They were a bunch of stories written by a whole slew of different authors and set in the city of Sanctuary. Not bad on the whole.

Anyway, I'm a fan of the old Dark Sun setting and I read The Brazen Gambit by Lynn Abbey and it just blew me away. By and large, I think most D&D books are at best mediocre, but I thought this one was fantastic. It stands on it's own merit outside of the D&D hook.

So I started looking for some of her other work and found it very enjoyable. She makes believable characters and she has some interesting ideas.

Outside of Abbey, I'm a big fan of Fritz Leiber, Roger Zelazny, J.R.R. Tolkien, Michael Moorcock and (more recently) George R.R. Martin.

*looks at the people left to rescue Cadirus*

Well we have Shade, who will obviously try it.
Nicos is likely to tage along behind Shade for a varity of reasons (too many to list now)

that leaves Sponk's character, Blarth and Mega.

I'm going to assume that they all find reasons to join in.

I get the feeling that when we rescue Cadirus it is going to go somethign along the lines of

"Shade! ... and a bunch of people I don't know!"

Hmm, I am not sure, I was thinking of going in search for Cadogan, but may stick around for a little while to help free Cadrius.

Eh, don't do anything that your character wouldn't. As I recall Cadrius wasn't entirely polite to Laronar the only time they've met.

And hey, he'll probably recognize Mega.
