Question Other systems?

Does anyone here play any other game systems?
i just want to expand my horizons

i wouldn't mind playing in /DMing a superhero game. Of course I don't know what sytem (someone published some d20 ones but the book is so shameful, its full of typos, things that dont make sense and other crap. You can just download a real version of the rules from their site but i feel so ripped off that i bought their book)
thye other day i was going to buy the dc heros boxed set
but i have no idea how good(or bad) it is

so to sum up :
- i want to try a new system (not a whitewolf game though, i hate those systems)
-i would DM if i knew how to play. So if anyone wnats to recommend a game system i may go and buy the core books (wont be for a week at least though, and i'll need to find them)
-playing a superhero game has always interested me
-i could just find that website with the real version of the d20 rules then we could just play a superhero game with d20 rules

if anyone has any comments or the like , just post away

Bah the DC system is boring. Check out the Marvel one, my group and I tested it out once or twice and had a good time with it.

BRR: yeah, but you cancelled out all the White Wolf games in your first post, effectively culling at least one third, if not more, of our gaming choices, as the White Wolf gaming system is fairly extensive and spans quite a few games in their own right.

As it stands, the main one I play is D&D 3rd Ed, but have been interested in maybe playing one of the White Wolf games (Mage, Vampire, or Werewolf).. *shrugs* thats just my personal preference though, but it may help explain why not as many people have replied to this as they have viewed it.

I read through the "Mage" system... I wasn't necessarily too fond of it (although I never did get a chance to play it)... there was something that didn't seem comprehensive about it... I also played/read the Werewolf system, which was entertaining, but again.. I felt it was a little bit lacking. One that no one has mentioned (or did and i missed it) was Shadowrun.... that was the first gaming system I ever played, and wouldn't be adverse to giving it another go (if its still around)...

Argh, for some reason Shadowrun has always irritated me, but perhaps that's because I've never had a fun game of it. I've given Mage a few goes and it's quite fun, but it's definitely a different sort of game. The fact that everything is based around the idea that some individuals have the ability to bend reality to their will makes for a highly unusual sort of game.

Who knows Mage might be alot of fun.... but it seemed that it could really be a pain if the group was not imaginative.

Definitely true. I've always wanted to try Werewolf though, seems kinda fun. Yet Vampire or Wraith never really appealed to me.

Yeah... i like the idea of Mage .... it looks like a funky game in my opinion ... and with the types of roleplayers we have in here and stuff, i doubt that imagination is lacking .... maybe

yeah i suppose i did ct out a large amount of the games by saying no to the whitewolf system
but it is very lacking, so muc so that its hard to call it a system. They seem to have taken the approach that its impossible to accurately model the world so why bother just go with your gut instinct, which is a cop out

and yeah i've played the games which gives me the right to judge
the mage magic system was reasonably interesting but the others were a real let down. luckily i didnt buy the books a friend did

since so many people like te look of mage perhaps a game of that should be played, i just want to see something non-d&d being played

or if your f2f groups play oter games direct them here. If we get enough new people someone is evetually going to want to play something else

saying that there are some fallout rules o nte net but they use the SPECIAL syste rather thsan d20 Soon as i get these downloaded and figure out what the special system is (i know what it stanbds for i dont know the mechanics) i may start p a game
but if i pick up a new system first I may try a game of that

Thought I'd add a couple of cents worth of info that may be of use.

Shadow Run 2nd ed is pretty good, magic in it is a bit different but there's something to be said for cyberware and blazing away with an assault rifle. You'd really need the main rule book to have it work.

As for a superhero game, I got into the hero system Champions game. Had some great times with that. Rules can get complex but that's were freeform is good. You might be able to find a copy of this on the net. At one point they released the 2nd ed on the web.... downloaded it but not sure where it is now.

Well, may i just add that, apparently, SLA (read Slay) Industries, and Cyberpunk 2020 are also rather good, though SLA is apparently fairly gorey (but that just might be at the whim of my friends GM)

Ah, I wish I did know. A superhero game really would be fun brings me back to my early years when I read comic books.

The rules seem fairly straight forward but i want to find someone who has played this game a bit first so i can get a few clarrifications (i might look for an equivalent to the 3ebb for it bt i doubt one exists )

I haven't played new millenium, it's essentially the second edition of champions. I got into the first one though.
I did download copy of the 3rd mellinium when it was available from heroes as a beta?
What did you want to know?

Anyone here play the battletech board game?

I used to play it but I got so incredibly bored. There wasn't any story for me to get into. It was just "Four more mechs come over the hill." "Roger that, ready AC 20."

Oh well, maybe it was a function of the players I was with.

the question i had was about rate of fire
it gives a little section of it
i.e. RoF is the amount of shots a gun makes in a 3-second round
then when it lists a selection of generic guns it fails to mention any RoF. It's more of a question about the book though, i'll dig through and see if they were stuck on some other table

The Mecha rules are alittle fuzzy too
any chance you could do me a very basic example?

I remember the battletech boardgame i was going to buy it a year or so ago
but the shop closed/moved (not sure which but i hadnt been there for over 6months when i went to get the game) so i never got a chance

It looked pretty good, saying that i didn't ever see any models for it being sold
