Spartans are rolling right now. Last week we demolished our hated rivals, U-M, in what is most likely the best defensive performance I have ever seen. We held them to -48 yards rushing, a record low for the wolverines. Our offense remains mediocre, but our defense is tops in the nation. As long as we don't have a hangover game against Nebraska next week, we pretty much have a lock on our division and will square off with Ohio State (boo!) for the Big Ten championship game.

Things are good, coffee shoppe is still trucking along. Life in downtown STL is good, except for the fact that it got cold all of a sudden. Oh well, at least we don't have snow yet. :/

Good deal, I'll keep rooting for them Spartans when I see them.

It's getting a bit brisk down here as well MadDog, but thank goodness snow will be extremely limited. Glad to hear the shops doing well.

We actually had enough snow the other day to cover the grass. I think the dogs were almost as excited as I was.

In other news, MSU men's basketball just put down No. 1 Kentucky in the champions classic, and football will be rolling to Lincoln this weekend to take on Nebraska, so I'm pretty excited all around. Looks like the Chandlers can look forward to another national title bid as well.

Would you believe that there is football fatigue in the state? Seriously, I've heard folks basically going, "Yeah, we might go undefeated. Okay." It's actually pretty short-sighted and silly. I've never been a super fan, but undefeated is a big deal, and BCS is a big deal. Honestly, I'll be glad when we start doing the playoff. That will be a nice addition to the whole shebang.

Well, I will say that I'm a bit weary of it, but it's not about the football itself as much as how lately there are so many stinking jerks about it. Bama fans and haters, both. We had a book club meeting that was totally unrelated completely torpedoed by people being just NASTY to each other, and it wasn't even football season. It's just so fever-pitched sometimes that I think that no one wants to be the avid fan lest they set someone else off because it's perceived as gloating. It's just really a yucky vibe lately around the Foosball in this state.

People have wayyyy too much of a vested identity in the sports team with which they affiliate. Try being a Cowboys fan for a decade, it'll cure you of that.

I imagine this is how Lions fans feel all the time.

Hey now, Cowboys fan here, but I do know what you mean. It's gets tiresome sometimes.

Hey the Lions can always go get Tebow. I love the way people argue about his stats, and all I have to do is look around the NFL and shake my head.

Man, pretty quiet around here. A moment of silence, perhaps, for The Tide?

Lol, not over here by me. I could here the screams of joy from my brothers house across the field.

My annual vacation is why I went MIA. I usually take the week of Thanksgiving off. I just hang out around the house, trying to catch up, and prepping for turkey day. Then Friday is Ren-faire day. Altogether it was a good week off.

That was the most stressful game I think I have ever watched. GOOD GRIEF.

Okay, about the actual roleplay game. If I don't know we were in Athas, I'm sorry. I honestly can't remember if we established that detail. Seeing "the burnt world of Athas" makes me think maybe we do know. Also, if some of these details are off, correct me and I'll amend my post. It's kind of hard to keep track with surreal mind-bendy stuff over this prolonged a period of time.

Thanks LB! We actually went down to Indy for the game, despite being the weekend before finals week (the Final finals week at that). Totally worth it - although I'd be lying if I said that at no point did I feel like vomiting all over the buckeyes in front of me. But as they say, Defense Wins Championships, and if there's one thing the Spartans have, it's defense.

Now, onward to Pasadena! The Tournament of Roses awaits!

The Grove? That's a neighborhood here in STL, notable primarily for its gay bars. Just sayin...

Lol, well the grove down here would be the field of blueberry bushes we've got planted. No gay bars in sight.

Perhaps I should get more in a groove.

So is anyone else as cold as I have been? The only thing worse than having to plow 2 feet of snow is having to do it in -40 wind chill.

Yowza. Nope. Not remotely.

Our local schools have been on delayed start times because I don't know why except Southerners are weenies? The roads aren't icy, and there's no precipitation. It's just colder than we're used to. And one of my friends complained she thought she had frostbite, which was pretty funny.

Yeah, the coldest day we had was actually pretty nice. We needed to bundle up, but it wasn't close to kill-you-dead cold.

I shoveled snow for 2.5 hours on Tuesday only to have snowplows come by early on Wednesday and push snow into my driveway. Dammit, I moved to the city to get away from shoveling snow! *grumblemutter*

I am also constantly wrestling the county plows as they push snow into the driveway. And since our driveway slopes up to the road, my wife can't get her little Grand Am out unless she gets a long run-up and pushes through, which is not always ideal for pulling out onto a busy road. I'm so thankful I have 4WD.
