If it talks back -- KILL IT

Since I've seen a few newbs around, and we don't have one currently running, I feel like a KILLING SPREE. Maps will be ironed out later. First, what level would anyone want to be if I were to start a tournament? Unlike most, this will not be a one-on-one slugfest (That tends to screw over the mages). I'm thinking some team-based maps, and alliances are an option on any map. Of course, unless it's a team map, backstabbing isn't out of the question.

The agression, the violence. Why can't we all just get along? Well, I'd prefere a lower level combat cuz it forces you to be more creative in the scene rather than when making the characters.

BTW, while I'll play a normal game in the standard way; when it comes to tournaments, I'm a psychotic powergamer. Whatever level you start at, you get 1.5xstarting gold and base 18 stats. Monster races follow the standard ECL (I still say that the ECLs are brutal). All rules are 3.5 edition.

Just a fact: The thread name came from a comic quote from Ghastly's Ghastly comic. I doubt that anyone else has read it here. It's about a couple of tentacle monsters and a woman with a fetish for them. The original line was "If it talks back, f*** it".

As I seem to be getting enough votes/replies to actually get a game started, now would be a good time to start some behind-the-scenes alliances ala Survivor.

Note that I will occasionally have my own character. These will be special battles of everyone vs. me. The level of my character will be based on the average level of the player(s) taking me on. Most of these will be straightforward matches. A few of them will be find-the-secret-to-killing-me (Watch Nightmare on Elm Street or other "Invincible" bad guy movies for the general idea).

Likely candidates for special matches (Levels or CR of candidates):
Setzer (1+) -- Based on the FFVI character. Abilities and class will change depending on level.
Atma Weapon (33) -- Also based on FFVI. The baseline is an intelligent Tarrasque.
Jason (17+) -- Vorpal machete. Find the secret.

Boy, I wish I could recast my vote. I should have realized this would be the one time I could actually be a hal-celestial.

Personally... I always LOVE the oppertunity to play with alternate species... and templates. They're just so.... Nifty. Judging from Seaphine's comments earlier, he was likely voting for the lower level game.

more vs. mode concepts:

Mario&Luigi
Captain, Operator, Mechanic (ZIG Force) & Cats (One guess)
Magitek Armor (Soldier Pilot)
Heavy Armor (Soldier)
Psycho Terra piloting the above (+3-5 levels)
Pac-Man (This one's gonna take some work)
Alex&droogs

Feel free to give me any ideas. I'll keep the poll going until about Friday afternoon.

Remember everyone, this is 3.5. No Paragons until I see the 3.5 version. Powerful is fine (Good, in fact), but I have to keep it within certain boundaries, or a couple of people become invincible. As soon as I see 3.5, fine.

According to the 3.5 update to the Epic handbook available for free download off WOTC's Web site... the only changes to the paragon template are they loose an epic feat... and have 10/Epic Damage Reduction.

It can be found here... D&D 3.5 Update Downloads

... There. The 3.5 accessory booklet and all 3.5-compatible errata. If the general concencus is high enough, you'll be able to start with a paragon.

I think it is mainly to update it to the rules for compatability without the balance changes

but Epic isn't balanced never was, never will be, and shouldn't be

Attention: It seems that we have a noteable schism of level preference. As you can all see, there's a near-equal margin of low vs. high levels. It may make the game overall a bit slower, but not by much.

If you want, I can split this into a low (1-5) and epic (20-30) arenas. If there's enough support, maybe a middle (10) one too.

No use giving up a game because half the prospective players don't like the level.

Oh, and if it is done in categories, A second DM for one of the categories would be well appreciated. They can still play, or make all vs. one arenas.

Epic is harder cause much of what makes an epic encounter is hard is the preperation the epic monster has.. IE their liar their home their magic items... A force cdragon out in the open with all the PCs able to fly isn't that scary, ask Beidamonk. But get the PCs in an enclosed space where every round they get a force breath:-) o the glory of flayed PC
