OOC: I forgot about the electronic dictionaries.

IC:

Ken-chan smiles over his cigarette. "Nice chu me chu, Mista He-wreck-oo-sue" His Japanese pronunciation of English is off a bit so when he says 'Nice to meet you Mr. Felix.' that is what it sounds like.

Ken-chan watches Flynn's exchange, but says nothing. However, Taka-chan seems to brighten up.

"Can you speak Chinese?" He asks first in Japanese, then in really broken beginner Japanese with all the accents wrong, he adds " I Chinese learning."

And he turns to Flynn and adds in basic Arabic, "Is you Arab? I learn."

"Soooo, how much farther to our destination?"
Ken-Chan grins at Flynn. "Wi' Me drivin' berry hastu!"

Taka-Chan spins around and starts talking quickly in Japanese, his worry evident. "Boss! you can't drive. If you get caught speeding one more time you will lose your license!"

Ken laughs and in Japanese he replies, "Then its a good thing I didn't bring my license with me today. Can't take away what you don't have, can they? Don't worry, if the slow-patrol start chasing us, I'll just switch seats with you." He gufffaws and pokes Taka in the kidneys.

"You readying?" He says to everyone in English.

Hmmm, Ken Chan and Taka Chan. Are you guys brothers? Just like the Chan clan.
"Brothers?" Ken chortles. "That's good! I call you Hiri-chan. Now you my brother too. I big brother, you my little brother. Taka. He is slow, boring brother."

In the glass reflection, Bunny is looking around with some oohs and ahhs.

"Boss, I don't know if there is magic at work here or not, but I almost feel someone else's luck on this vehicle. Luck that it doesn't crash.

From what I can tell, the two men are just men, but they seem nice. At least I don't feel anything wrong from them like I did with the metal lady that liked your friend so much."

Nevermore winks his thanks at Bunny. Turning back to the jabbering men in Japanese, he just shakes his head.

This sucks, what the hell is everybody saying!?

IC: Looking at Taka He replies in English." Yes I am pretty good with my Chinese but dont speak Japanese at all yet. " Upon hearing the question posed to him in Arabic Flynn just smilesand shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders as if he didnt understand the question. And quickly loads his bags into the van and climbs inside.

Hearing Pope's comment about understandig he leans forward and whispers, "Just be sure to buckle up tight..We have the japanese Dukes of hazard driving."

OOC: And Just curious...is there a Japanese equivilent to Lowes or Home Depot? Might need to make a personal trip there if we happen to pass by one.

OOC: Home centers? In theory, yes. But you've been going along the highway (a pay toll road like the PA Turnpike, only better roads). The sides of the highway have high walls or trees that block the sound and sights from the drivers. Its hard to see much in the way of any signs. And whatever signs you see wouldn't make much sense to any of you. Even knowing Japanese, if you didn't know the brand or company name of a home center, you could be looking at them and never know it until you got inside.

So Ken has Adam's cover name. How will the rest of you introduce yourselves before everybody takes off?

Nevermore will purposely not introduce himself. He will look around wide eyed and smile when someone talks to him. He will play shy and overwhelmed by his new surroundings.

OOC: Also hoping on the Arcane to allow me to just blend into the background and be another face in vehicle.

Okay, so Ken-chan and Taka-chan both shake Charles Flynn's hand. Taka can't seem to let go as he wants advice on how many languages "Mista Chahz" can speak and if you have any experience as a translator.

Sure, I guess you could just throw him on Luo and then disapear once his head is turned.

Certainly, its super easy for you to disappear in a parking lot with lots of cars and people going every direction. there were 10 vans in a row near where the bus pulled over at the end of the large parking lot. There are a lot of other cars nearby all the way to the line of toilets and the stalls selling food. There is a McDonald's here too and already other JETS are taking their 10 minutes to go get food.

Just note that before she left, the JET guide from the bus gave Ken-chan a paper with your 4 names and faces (as you have listed on your passports), She had all 4 of you there when she handed him the paper. She's now moved on to the next van and so on, giving them each the list of the JET's that are to go with them.

Okay, so Pope and Flynn are on the lamb. How about the Wolves?

Ill play the good boy for now until the right time...

IC: " Me? well i actually only speak Chinese and english like my friend here." Points to Luo. "And he's been helping me brush up on my chinese at that."

"Brothers?" Ken chortles. "That's good! I call you Hiri-chan. Now you my brother too. I big brother, you my little brother. Taka. He is slow, boring brother."
Felix laughs questioningly and starts tapping the keys on the translator. "Herey... hmmm does this thing take phonetic spelling?"

OCC: unless spoken to directly Felix will act like he is concentrating on the translator.

Adam, musing in his head is thinking about ways to make this gizmo voice activated. What spirit would be suited to this? An Owl perhapse.

Nevermore lights another cigarette and lets his mind wander. Restless his left foot kicks absently at the ground.

OOC: Guess I have to be the asshole here, but as you all know me that has never stopped me before. Can we please get this show on the road. We have fooled around with introductions and asides long enough now. Lets get moving. I mean this game began in July, it has been almost a year and we only now have gotten to the name of the place in the title of the story. Time to get it in high gear.

So everyone gets in the van, Taka checks off the list to be sure that all heads are accounted for. Once confirmed, its off on the highway you go.

As mentioned, Ken-chan is pretty much a dukes of hazzard maneuvering around the highway. It still takes some time, and while you are on the highway, its party time or picnic time... before you guys arrived, Taka picked up McD burgers (just cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets and fries all around. For drinks he has bottled water and cans of beer. the beer is a local brand, and the bottled water is also a japanese brand as well. There are also rice balls and fried chicken (boneless) that Taka's wife made.

Unless otherwise mentioned, I figure you'll find something worth eating for your lunch just so we get past that as well.

After exiting the highway, you head up through some town, and out the other side. The town is introduced as Toshi-shi, and it seems to be a small city with at least some civilization... there's a starbucks. (you could find your home center there as well though no name sticks out as being a home center at first glance).

Anyway, the only other point of interest (pointed out by Ken-Chan) is a billboard showing a nuclear power plant (the nuclear symbol gives it away) and some smiling people. Ken-chan has some negative words in Japanese about them building a nuclear plant here. In English, he brokenly says "they want to build power plant. We don't need it. It don't belong by our Spirit River. But Toshi people don't hear us. Allow to build... get money. You don't go there. To Plant. Last teacher, David. He go there for demo. He touch fence and die, they say. It's not safe."

(that's important info, just FYI).

But Ken-chan takes you away from the city up a very windy road. So windy it looks like it came from Ridge-racer. Taka says don't go here at night. many races. many dead. To those with spirit seeng ability, there are ghosts at various curves or bottlenecks along the windy road where people died and couldn't find release.

Not that many, but more than one to be sure, anyway.

Next, as you travel up the windy road, there are parts where you can see the river which looks semi-dry compared to big rivers like the mississippi and whatnot in the states, but is nonetheless a big river. Along its side and occasionally crossing it is a railroad track. Along the way, you can see a steam locamotive making its way along the tracks. Ken-chan indicates that its the only other way to go to and from Mura-cho other than driving... or floating down the river. The train runs fairly regularly.

(transportation info).

Finally, you go through a tunnel under a mountain and get a bit of pressure in the ears from the length of it. and finally you come out from a side exit from the tunnel out to the village that Ken-chan introduces as Mura-cho.

Basically, its a step back in time compared to the bigger cities, or even compared to Toshi-city. Nothing is over 3 stories tall, and even that is limited to the city hall, an apartment building and the schools. For super basic layout, take a capital T and turn it on its side. The top part is the river, the part leading away from the river (and the train station) is the main street.

Ken-Chan takes you to the Town Hall. There is a large group of well-wishers waiting for you. Kids in their school uniforms, a junior high brass band playing some Beatles tune (Yesterday or Hey Jude. They aren't that good). The town elders are there, and they want to gladhand everyone. Ken-chan and Taka-chan have to put on suit Jackets once they get out of the van. It seems they work at the Town hall, and Ken-chan is your immediate boss at the Board of Education. Taka-chan is his assistant.

to help with translations the Town hall has asked a young local woman, Miss Karen Watanabe. Its interesting to note that she has auburn hair, not black like most others, and she looks like she could be a fashion model. Unlike the other old men or office ladies, she isn't fawning on you. She says in natural English that she got her Law degree in California after studying at UCLA. She has her own work to do, but since the town elders practically begged her to help out, she's doing them a favor by translating today.

She translates their welcome speech, and whatever comes out of your mouths if its in English. Each of you is expected to say a few words of thanks and that you'll do your best.

After that, you will be escorted by Ken-chan on a quick tour of the Town hall. They have 6 desks together with Ken's at the head, and Taka's at the other end, and you four choose your own desks in the middle. This is where you'll report tomorrow morning by 8am to start your day.

then you'll be escorted with Ken-chan, Taka-chan, and Karen on a quick walking tour back to the train station, and down along the main boulevard past the one-story shops... each shop seems to be reminiscent of some bygone era... kind of like the old Mayberry kind of towns from the 1950's. Nothing truly modern. Even the one appliance shop doesn't carry much in the way of modern washers or fridges. But everyone is friendly even if their words aren't understandable (until Karen translates them).

Finally, you are taken to a rather large 2-story house (most are two stories, I should say, but this one is kind of a cross between a normal house and an apartment building). It is called a Maizon, or Guest House. The land lord is a kindly old man with gray hair and a kind smile. His name is Eiji Watanabe. He speaks British English and is somewhere between Ken-Chan and Karen in native English ability. He indicates that if you need anything, just ask him.

You are shown to your rooms upstairs. Its communal living. The toilet is down the hall, there are sinks across from the toilet (western style with buttons along the side). The bath is downstairs along with the Washing machine. Hang your clothes to dry outside the balcony in each room.

Each room is almost bare with grass mats on the floor. You are to take off your shoes in the entrance, the rest of the house you walk around in bare feet. There is a big kitchen and a living room with a large flat-screen TV. Mr. Watanabe makes breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is from 6-7am. and Dinner is also 6-7pm. On the weekends, he is busy with another job, so you have to make your own food.

Also, it should be noted that the doors to the personal rooms do not have locks per say. You can keep them shut by using a hook on the inside of the door. mr. Watanabe says the community is safe, so there's no need to worry. But if you are, there's a safe in each room's closet that is big enough to put most small valuables.

the only places with a key lock are the front door, the back door, and the toilet (for privacy purposes). You are each given a key to the front door.

Taka arrives with your suitcases, and you can now relax in your bedrooms until dinner. its 4pm now, you have 2 hours until dinner. And after dinner you have the night to yourself. you can watch TV with Mr. Watanabe if you want. After the tour, Ken-chan goes back to the town hall with Taka, and Karen goes with them.

That's enough exposition to get you into the town and settled into your abode.

If you have plans to do anything that evening, let me know. If not, Indicate that you are staying around the house, and I'll fast forward again this weekend.

OOC again. Yes, finally, distractions aside, we can start the actual story. thank you for your patience.

Once back to the guest house Nevermore pops open his suitcase and grabs a fresh pack of smokes. After the familiar click of his Zippo, he is covered in a haze of smoke.

He plops down on the bed, "Say gents. Just how did we get rodeoed into teaching? Jeez I'm a PI not an English teacher." This comment almost seems rhetorical as Nevermore continues. "So when do we want to go nosing around that power plant. You know with a warning not to go near it we just have to go near it."

IC: Standing with his back to againsr the door he looks around the room at his companions. " Normally I'd say the sooner the better, however I think we need a day or 2 to prepare and maybe get a proper lay of the land. Afterall you knowewill end up running for our lives at some point...its best to know which way to run."

"however first things first Adam and I found out some iteresting info back at...wherever the hell we were.Basically comes downto this. The garou that tha laptop belonged to, or at least was mentioned in. Wasthere and got the local Fox spirit to give him somekind of Sword. A REAL good one Iwould think ..altho Adam wll have to expand on why and what it was for..but it i apparently around here somewhere now and Important to figureout wat is happening around here."
Looking towards Adam.. "Well kid want to fill us in on what you think we are going to need to do here?"

Well, first thing we should do is decide what to do about your problem. (Adam points directly at Pope) We don't know when but likely Trixie will be able to give us a little bit of notice, but how much we may not know until it happens. Before that happens we should know what we are going to do when it gets here.

With the other thing, the sword was made in part with the spirit of the fox. Because of that I was able to get what I needed to track it down. This sword is said to be key in finding the lost ones. Also I was able to find a book that belonged to the missing Wolf. Since we do not know if he is alive or dead, it may be worthwhile to try to track him down.

Outside of that as Flynn said, get the lay of the land, "meet the neighbors" so to speak.

And there are other things that we need to do to get ready.

OOC: I don't know if you saw, I posted in the OOC thread.
