A Serenity Game

I thought I'd try my hand at running Serenity, seeing as I love the system and the setting, and I'm looking for like-minded individuals to join me.

I'm considering different options for the actual game setting, so if yer interested, please state which game type you'd be interested in.

1. A Ship of Fools: The players take up the roles of crewmen aboard a ship, taking jobs and making money wherever they can to keep flyin'.

2. In the Navy: Fly in the best ships in the black! See the 'verse! Join the Alliance today!

3. The Life of a Postman: The crew are members of the Interstellar Postal Service, or ISPS, taking unusual cargo to exotic locales. Pay on delivery.

4. Life of a Core-Worlder: Life on the planet of Londinum is pretty durn good, but yer one o' those with a thirst for power, ain'tcha? Political intrigue and backstabbing in a race to become the head of state on this established Core World.

5. Living the Settler's Life: Take off from Bernadette to parts unknown, flyin' far out into the black to settle a newly-terraformed planet. Will you become a farmer, or a crime-lord? Or maybe start up a bar (locals always need themselves a bar), or open up a merchant organization? The future's unknown, but what you do know is that it's gonna take a lot o' work to get there, and that hundred-credit note in yer boot prolly ain't gonna last you too long...

Whichever one is chosen, chargen is at Greenhorn level (that's 42 attribute points and 62 skill points.)

If you don't have the book, just gimme a character concept, and I'll work with you to gen a character.

Ship of Fools seems fitting for the Firefly system. A couple of questions that will help determine my character:

Will the ship have guns?
How big will the ship be?
Post/Pre Serenity?

I'm in for a Ship of Fools game... sounds like it could be a blast. 'Sides....If I run one... and someone ELSE runs one... then I can still PLAY!!

@Takk:
1. Depends. How much you lookin' to spend?
2. Depends. How much you lookin' to spend?
3. You don't know what reavers are, and neither does the rest o' the verse, exceptin' a few individuals.

@Chronaltap: Yeah, those were pretty much my sentiments as well.

Ship level guns are awful hard to find in these parts, what with the war bein' over and the Alliance bein' the victor and all.

So I reckon we won't be havin' guns on our boat.

EDIT: And I changed my mind. I want to be the Captain. db

Daed can explain it better, but it uses all the dice except a d20. A mix of BESM, D20, and WW.

Does it use my d30? Because that would be a plus.

It uses d2 through d12. Skills and attributes are given a die rating, and when you want to do something you usual roll attribute + skill vs. difficulty number.

Lets say I wanna pull a crazy turn on my hovermule. I've got an agility of d8 and a Drive: Hovermule skill of d12. The difficulty is Formidible, making it so I must roll a 15 or better. i roll a 4 on the d8 and an 11 on the d12 - all together that's 15. I succeed.

Interesting, though not completely unexpected.

It's a very shiny system. So, NI, you want in?

Possibly, but... no, I don't have the time or balance in my life at this point. If the game doesn't actually start for a while though, I think I'd be interested in playing.

If possible, I'd like to be included on the list of interested parties. Since while I'm bookless, I'm also, y'know, interested.

Yah.

Never can have too much Serenity, now can we?

Excellent! Do you have a preference as to which of the 5 game types you'd prefer?

While I'm willing to play whatever's most popular (they all sound quite fun), one, three, and five have got my brain rootin' through concepts like a hog in a slop trough.

A shady captain who got a crew together as fast as he could to jump planet and get away from the feds.

He'll do most any job unless he feels it's blatently evil or harmful, and then only because he has a reputation to uphold.

Daedelus,

Since Chronaltap's game died before it could get started, are you planning on continuing with your idea?

If we can convince you to do so, I'd be interested in a Ship of Fools or the Postman ideas.

Poke, poke, nudge, nudge?
