itches 23rd of July, 2002 04:51

Well i was going to wait untill the others post. that way it wont become a someone, me , someone, me, habit of posting.

Maeko 23rd of July, 2002 19:38

Will post later today...Sorry.

Gralhruk 23rd of July, 2002 21:54

No need to apologize, I understand that everybody has a real life :). It's just that all of my PBP games have been moving really slowly lately. I'm in four games over on the 3ebb and all four of my DM's (well, all three of them - 2 games are run by Second Talon) are spending much of their time playing Neverwinter Nights.

Cadrius 23rd of July, 2002 22:02

I will freely admit that I'm feeling a bit of summer lethargy when it comes to posting. The air is so warm, the water so cool, and the girls so beautiful that I have difficulties persuading myself to post. Fortunately I also work so I have free time then.

Plus after that one I definitely needed to mull it over and I'm still not entirely done yet.

So allow me to apologize in advance. If you don't hear from me for a few days it's likely due to me going off to the beach, chasing girls, or the various other things us college guys do.

But rest assured I will post shortly.

Gralhruk 23rd of July, 2002 23:04

No pressure. Enjoy the beach and the women, but don't work too hard :).

itches 24th of July, 2002 02:21

We have Gnolls people!!!

Donít listen to Gralhruk. I expect you to post regularly!!! If you donít I will call your hurtful names ;)

Just kidding has fun over there in your summer. I'll try and survive winter down here.

Gralhruk 24th of July, 2002 02:41

Call him names . . . or attack him with Gnolls, eh?

Anyway, excellent round of posts all. I particularly liked Maeko's story.

Cadrius 24th of July, 2002 03:08

As did I, it was a very interesting bit. The best part about it is that it was totally within her head. Anything like that is a bonus to the reader and for some reason I find that aesthetically pleasing.

Gralhruk 24th of July, 2002 05:51

The plot thickens. Cadrius guessed wrong, it wasn't Skerf that cut her - as it happens I didn't even know he existed until I started writing that post. It was Ricard, her one time lover and partner in crime. Alas, the full story will need to wait for a more appropriate moment http://www.uniquehardware.co.uk/serv...gue/crazy3.gif.

At any rate, what does the current battlefield look like? I assume that we are arranged as follows:

..............................
..............................
.............I................
..............................
.............M................
..............................
..............................
...............C..............
..............................
...............S..............
..............................
..............................

Itches, you want to pencil in the Gnolls?

Maeko 24th of July, 2002 06:23

Thanks for the compliments, I am embarassed ! :∙
In fact the "Sutra" bit it's a Chinese Buddhist tale, I just adapted it slightly...

itches 24th of July, 2002 15:07

..............................
..............................
....G1......I................
....G2........................
.............M................
....G3......................
.....G4....................
...............C..............
..............................
...............S..............
..............................
..............................

Assume that they are all just normal Gnolls, no extra classes. Basic battle plan being 3 and 4 will hold off C&S while 1 &2 take out the two "helpless" people of our group, M and I

That is unless anyone wants to do something special, in which case go right ahead ( like i could stop you)

itches 24th of July, 2002 20:11

I thought i would just take this opertunity to express how much i enjoy this game. I really think that playing here, has honed my writing skills to where i want them to be. You may notice, but a lot of Itches's posts i try to work on the Verbel side of it. Always a week point in my writing, i think i am starting to show some imporvemt. either that or the 4 shots of whisky has mucked my vision up. Probobly both.

Well have fun and all. And please dont let Itches dies. Think of poor Lily

:worry:

Gralhruk 25th of July, 2002 03:22

Itches: I thought your last post was excellent.

To make the combat a little more organized, I took the liberty of rolling initiative (okay, it's computer generated using Irony's dice server). Taking into account the initiative modifiers on your character sheets, here is the order:

26 - Maeko
19 - Cadrius
18 - Shade, Gnoll 1
17 - Gnoll 2
13 - Itches
10 - Gnoll 3
7 - Gnoll 4

Of course, feel free to ignore me if you'd rather just post at will.

Cadrius 25th of July, 2002 03:26

Judging by how fast Maeko is moving she's likely risking breaking the speed of sound and we'll ALL be killed by the ensuing sonic boom.

Then again the big lug in armor is moving on a 19, what's up with that?

Gralhruk 25th of July, 2002 03:41

Maeko rolled a 20, Cadrius a 15 (he does have improved initiative). Incidentally, the gnolls all have +0 init. I suppose I ought to start carrying a D20 around with me: computer generated random numbers aren't always terribly random. As I said, feel free to ignore it if you want to post.

I have a thing about getting a good initiative roll; almost all of my characters will take improved initiative at some point, almost all of them have a decent dexterity. It's really annoying when the tank beats my lightning fast rogue.

itches 25th of July, 2002 03:59

All right!!!

The two Gnolls that will try and kill poor little Itches get to go before him. I'm so dead.

Save my, and thereby save yourselves. For you see I am in fact the god of toenails. Yes thatís right toenails.

Speaking of toenails I just noticed that there is virtually no magic in this game. I personally think that allows for the best role-playing. Still we have not 1 magical weapon. Personally if we did at sure point introduce magical items - Iím assuming we will eventually, it would really allows us to make each item special, with its own story and such. But Iím rambling here so Iím off to do a spell check.

Edit : i like the inititve, and will wait to post.

Cadrius 25th of July, 2002 05:06

Gral, I know what you mean. I prefer speedier characters as well, with the exception of course for the typical dumb oaf.

Itches I have noticed an improvement in your writing. I really think all you needed was to proof-read your work a little more and look what happens. Hell, I could certainly stand to proof-read my own stuff more.

itches 25th of July, 2002 05:21

proof-read?

thats an interesting concept. I might have to try that one out one day :)

18 - Shade, Gnoll 1
17 - Gnoll 2
13 - Itches
10 - Gnoll 3

Gralhruk 30th of July, 2002 04:20

Cadrius, you said you were attacking the first two gnolls, but also said that Maeko didn't look like she needed any help. That sounds like you are having Cadrius attack G3 & G4; let me know if I misread you. Also, I should think that both G3 & G4 were within 20' of him, so he should have had time to make a single attack on one of them.

From Maeko's description, I'd say she readied an action to attack G1 or G2 so I think Maeko should describe G1's move since he goes after Shade in the initiative count.

Anyway, I'm off to post.

Cadrius 30th of July, 2002 04:31

Yep you read me right, but it's a move-equivalent action to draw your sword, plus the 20' move over there. If only he was hasted...

Gralhruk 30th of July, 2002 04:41

Ah, well lucky for you their is a little known rule about drawing a weapon: so long as you have a BAB of +1 or better you can draw your weapon while you move. So you do get an attack :)

Cadrius 30th of July, 2002 04:44

Are you serious? I've never heard of that one. Wow. I'll get on that and do me a favor and get me the page number on that one if you remember it.

Gralhruk 30th of July, 2002 04:48

I don't have the page number but I assume it is under the combat section, where they describe the "Draw a Weapon" move equivilent action. Here is a quote from the SRD:

Quote:

Draw a weapon [Move Equivalent][AoO: No]

Description: If a combatant has a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, a combatant can combine one of these actions with a regular move. If a combatant has the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, a combatant can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take a combatant to draw one.

itches 30th of July, 2002 23:18

Okay its my turn to post.

But before i do, i want to know, who is going to do the Gnoll's actions?

Gralhruk 30th of July, 2002 23:23

Well, pretty much anybody who feels like it. I think it's easiest if you control the gnolls you are in combat with, but I don't really care if somebody else does it either.
