After a rather long hiatus from the site, I'd like to get back into the swing of things on here as a DM, and have been itching to run a Red Hand of Doom game for a while now. I know there's one up at the moment being run on the boards, so I'm gauging interest at the moment for a second one - this one set in the Forgotten Realms (in the Shining South area, above Halruaa in the southern Shaar).

I would be wanting 4-5 players who are interested in creating level 5 characters for the game (no more than 5 though, as 6+ tends to become a little difficult to manage in my mind), and characters would enter the game from a few different angles as presented in the campaign book.

I have a few of the FR sourcebooks, and a decent amount of the sourcebooks from the standard line also. All non-core book items that players want will be subject to approval, of course, but unless it's completely game-breaking (such as a pet sphere of annihilation or your own deck of many things), the chances of me saying no are few and far between.

If there's enough interest to form a player base for the game, I'll post up the character creation guide and go about setting up a forum space to play in. So, anyone up for it?

I do like the cheesiness of FR, but I have to ask if it's a problem that I have no clue what the Red Hand of Doom is. An adventuring group? Some sort of lich? Elmo after his pipe caught on fire?

The Red Hand of Doom is an adventure/campaign module about a war horde that seeks to sweep across the area unless they are stopped (say, by a group of PC heroes).

Ah, okay.

That sounds interesting. Is knowledge of the module required? If not, I'm in. I have no idea with what yet, though.

How often do you plan on posting? And how long do you expect this game to run? Depending upon your plans for the game I might be interested. :)

Crazy Eben: No knowledge of the module is necessary - it's mostly DM information anyways, so it's sometimes preferred that people don't know it, but to ask that is to potentially exclude people :)

coffeesucker: The game will run so long as there are still enough people to play it, and I plan on posting as often as I can provided that real life doesn't get in the way (which it can do on occasion). My goal is at least updating 3x a week unless the game doesn't need it at the time (such as in good bouts of roleplaying or the like)

Looks sweet. How much FR information do we need to have to play? (I ask because I have relatively little of it)

Knowledge of FR isn't absolutely necessary to the game - it's just the setting that I'm using. I could just as easily have used the default setting of the game, but figured I'd use the Forgotten Realms because most players have at least a passing knowledge of some of it.

Alright, I've been hit by a burst of inspiration for a character concept.

A gay cleric of Sune who brings his message of love & peace to the people while beating down undead and evildoers. Possibly Aasimar, depending on how you feel about such races being included, possibly Gold Dwarf. How does that sound?

I'm gonna withdraw my interest Kahluah - got too much going on. Good luck.

I know FR very well and have virtually all the FR sourcebooks amongmy 3.5 collection. What do you have so far?

I've still got the sheet for Alaron Staffstrike, so I could get started quickly, although my posting will be erratic for a couple of weeks, at the least. Hopefully this goes better than the last time.

I might be interested. I have a Human Paladin of Torm I am playing on another site that I wouldn't mind dropping a couple of levels and use here.
