And very politically knowledgeable too. Did you know that Gurthang voted against the No Child Left a Dime -- er, Left Behind act?

Guys, my compy is down at the moment, hence my lesser posting.

Chris, could you PM me what languages Malak speaks? :p

Chris Chandler
9th of November, 2009, 16:20
I'll have to check on my other compy - sorry for the delay.

MadDogMaddux
10th of November, 2009, 05:46
Eh, no worries, I just can't pull up any of that info on my phone :P

Chris Chandler

Grar! I forgot to check! I fail! Woe, woe, alack and welawey!

LadyGlutter

((Good eye, Omni!))

*cue music*

OmniFrost looks down, and to her surprise, she has boobs! The shock of it all sends her reeling, and her mouth drops open in a suggestive manner. She licks her lips, suddenly excited by the possibilities. All these men, all these eyes, all on her.

Doombot
12th of November, 2009, 05:31
Hooray boobs! ;)

I'm going to let Malak get first crack at a response, since he has to translate for Aros anyway.

Chris Chandler
12th of November, 2009, 11:53
I'll hold off temporarily, as well. I'll check back later tonight.

MadDogMaddux
12th of November, 2009, 15:18
Em....Chris, did you get the PM I sent?

Chris Chandler
12th of November, 2009, 15:25
I didn't get a PM.

MadDogMaddux
13th of November, 2009, 00:31
*mutters* dunno why it didn't go thru.

Heh, that's what I've been waiting on. I'll try again...

MadDogMaddux
13th of November, 2009, 03:18
Thanks, Chris! Sorry for leaving you hanging, Doom. I'll make sure Malak recovers himself at my next post and brings you into the loop.

Doombot

No sweat, I'm a sucker for tall girls myself. ;)

MadDogMaddux
13th of November, 2009, 06:42
:p

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Doombot
13th of November, 2009, 10:26
I figure Grissi's got to be about as tall as you are, you sly dog.

MadDogMaddux
13th of November, 2009, 15:45
Hey, he just wants a woman he can see eye to eye with.

:P

Besides, holeeeee cow can she cook....and barefoot too!

Doombot
13th of November, 2009, 23:04
As long as you realize that she can't wear heels when you go out.

Will try to post later tonight.

MadDogMaddux

Awwww.... CRAP!!

MadDogMaddux
14th of November, 2009, 01:46
Wait, no, I've got it! In hybrid form I should be taller than her still. So I just gotta get date clothes with the beastskin enchantment....

Doombot
14th of November, 2009, 09:42
I hope that she likes her bearmen hirsute.

MadDogMaddux
14th of November, 2009, 10:06
Bearmen.....hirsute......redundant much?

Doombot
15th of November, 2009, 00:50
Only when necessary. :)

MadDogMaddux

Ok weird. What I posted just now in IC is pretty much identical to a post I made yesterday morning - which seems to have dissappeared. :(

LadyGlutter

Yeah, it's not just you. Chris made 5 posts to various things yesterday that aren't there today. There appears to have been a rollback.

Chris Chandler

Have a good holiday!

MadDogMaddux

Wooooot!!!! Roll Tide!!!!

Doombot

Doombot
8th of December, 2009, 13:42
After seeing these posts, I got curious and looked it up. Sadly, it's the only game from that night that I could not find the high-lights for. Go 'Bama!

Chris Chandler
8th of December, 2009, 13:59
You know, when I was changing the channel to the game Saturday I lingered just a second too long on PBS' "Sewing with Nancy (http://www.wpt.org/sewingwithnancy/)", because it looked like some infomercial. I quipped to LG, after she explained that it was unlikely that Nancy would be discussing the game, that you never know, Nancy could have quite the detailed analysis on the Bear Defense, and then changed channels.

Methinks, Doom, that you might have stumbled upon Cute Overload and, thinking it was a sports site, came up emptyhanded. You never know, though. Chicks know more about football that you might think.

Doombot
8th of December, 2009, 23:46
Indeed they do; I would have to say that Angela is probable more knowledgeable about it than I am. But on the ESPN site, they offered highlights of each game -- except for Alabama-Florida. All they had were interviews with Tebow, Saban, et al. about who played well, how it felt to be in whichever ranking was applicable, and who was hungrier during the third and fourth quarters.

And let me tell you, none of them were very cute.

MadDogMaddux

LadyGlutter
16th of December, 2009, 09:01
Ha, like you have any room to talk!! I just called it like I saw it. All of that about the clothing had just passed me by when I read it the first time. When you you posted about Aros paying attention to those little details I was relieved to have something to contribute, so thanks! ;)

Doombot
16th of December, 2009, 13:46
That's what I'm here for! But seriously, if those 'city outfits' are going to make me look like a bad guy from Beyond the Thunderdome, I'll pass. A little thong and a face mask over some breeches and a breastplate are going to look pretty damn stupid. Long loose clothing though...that just might do.

What did Malak and Grissi just agree to? A date in a month from now? That seems a trifle... formal to me. Y'all talked around "talking plainly" to where I am just confused. (And before anyone else says it, I AM worrying my pretty little head about it!)

Doombot
30th of December, 2009, 13:17
Oh yeah! Malak's got the hots for a hot elf chick! Woot woot!

Chris Chandler
30th of December, 2009, 15:45
And now we see the gamut of emotional response.

MadDogMaddux
31st of December, 2009, 02:31
I don't think a "date" was agreed upon. Just tha Malak is interested, but only if she'd be willing/able to come WITH him upon Marriage.

Think of it as a setting of terms at the outset of negotiations. :p

LadyGlutter
31st of December, 2009, 02:55
Lol, I was thinking perhaps that was what was going on. At least I'm not imagining it. I was actually worried I was jumping to conclusions with the thinking Malak was looking for life.

So... what, it's supposed to be love at first sight, eh? *gags*

And anyway, who says she's a HOT elf chick? Chris was decidedly short on description of all of these new people's features. Elf and chick, yeah, but I hear the name "Grissi" and picture gristle. Oh, but it's an elf, how can it help but be hot. *gags again*

EDIT:

So now, Chris is picking on me for being jealous for Mizuki's sake. No, Malak already was wowed by Mizuki. That's not it. And anyway, it's more that my mental image is NOT matching up at all. The word 'matriarch' also tells me different things than Malak is apparently seeing. Matriarch elves go away to the Western Lands. I gotta go in character and get a description of these peoples. :D

MadDogMaddux
31st of December, 2009, 03:12
Actually, some of what you're keying on is WHY Malak is attracted.

She has an air of rugged strength and determination that is tempered with poise and grace. I decided to RP Malak as attracted to her when Chris described her in those terms, with piercings and tattoos.

Malak looks at her and sees someone with the strength and spirit to be a COMPANION to him.

Not to say that Omni or Mizuki do not, but
A) I'm never much of a fan of interpersonal romance between PCs
B) Mizuki would likely be more master than Companion to him
C) Omni and Malak are still tenuously friends at best right now
D) there is a fierceness and ruggedness to Grissi that Malak finds very appealing - at least as I read her...

Hopefully that helps?

Doombot
31st of December, 2009, 23:49
Plus she's an elf, so that makes her smokin' hot. :P Like Gabe says, (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/12/2/) 'It's not gay if it's an elf.'*

*Spoilers for DA: O. Be warned.

LadyGlutter
1st of January, 2010, 02:21
Y'all are nutty.

Like I said, this isn't because Malak is going for Grissi rather than the PCs. More that he's talking about something so serious so soon. I guess, though, it's already been established that Mizuki and I take way longer to make lasting judgements about people than Malak.

But I gotta say, if it were about Mizuki wanting Malak, and Mizuki's giving off a Mistress kinda vibe -- I'm a funny sort of paladin of freedom. :P

"Kneel! Wait, no, I mean, be free. I command it."

MadDogMaddux
1st of January, 2010, 02:25
Yeah, that's not what I meant. Not that she'd intentionally dominate him. But unintentionally - simply through force of character.

And, yeah, maybe it was a quick Judgment, but there was no lifelong commitment made - just an opening.

Chris Chandler
2nd of January, 2010, 04:30
To answer Malak's question, logistically it is quite feasible, LB.

Doombot
4th of January, 2010, 06:12
So happy New Year everyone, and I hope everyone gets/got what they want for bowl games. Penn State and Wisco won their bowl games, and OSU beat Oregon in a surprising victory to finally win a bowl game and (just maybe) restore a little swagger to the Big Ten. MSU, of course, did not win. But we did play pretty darn well considering we were short half our team and TT was essentially playing a home game. Go Green!

LightBringer
5th of January, 2010, 05:45
Happy New Year to you too, Doom.

I'll leave the rest of that to the college fans. :)

Chris Chandler
5th of January, 2010, 15:30
The game I've been waiting for isn't until Thursday. Sorry the Spartans didn't pull it out this year. They had a pretty decent season, all told.

Doombot
5th of January, 2010, 23:51
We were 7 points from being 9-3. Next year, we just have to finish those close games.

LadyGlutter
6th of January, 2010, 02:52
Yes, a very late Happy New Year, all!!

MadDogMaddux
6th of January, 2010, 04:00
Well, the reality is that Alabama shouldn't be playing Texas anyhow. Talk about a crap call.

If I didn't already hate Texas, I'd be rooting extra for Alabama just because of that. As it is, I might even watch the game and cheer a bit. :p

LadyGlutter
6th of January, 2010, 04:09
That is very, very true.

We're due for a snowfall Thursday. Alabama doesn't get much snow. There's quite a bit of worry that there will be massive power outages during the game, and Armeggedon will commence. 2012 nothing. :P

MadDogMaddux
6th of January, 2010, 07:21
That's your prediction for the score? 2012 - nothing?

Doombot
6th of January, 2010, 08:14
Silly southerners and your inability to handle snow. As it is, I keep hoping for some big team from the deep south to come up and challenge a Big Ten team for the Motor City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl or something. It was pretty fun watching Arkansas freeze their tails off at the Liberty Bowl the other day, kicking rock-hard footballs willy-nilly.

LadyGlutter
6th of January, 2010, 10:55
LOL

Still, when it doesn't snow but once every two years or so, it's kinda hard to develop good driving skills or know how to use that rusty old street scraper. Plus, the local drivers get confused when any kind of wet falls from the skies. I hear that's a problem everywhere, though.

There's been threats to the local ABC weatherman (http://www.alabamawx.com/?p=25827). That's some nasty sportsmanship. :tsk:

Doombot
6th of January, 2010, 12:55
I have a question for you, and I hope it doesn't sound too insulting: do you guys know what sleet is? The only reason I ask is that my aunt had a washing machine delivery guy from CA a few years back, and he had no idea what sleet was when she told him to drive safe because it was sleeting out.

LadyGlutter
6th of January, 2010, 13:07
Oh yeah, we have sleet on occasion, but it usually comes along with tornadoes. Teensy bits of ice mixed in with rain. We also have ice storms, with freezing rain. Those are not fun at all, because they almost always mean broken power lines and tree limbs and even more wrecks than snow would. The world turns so gorgeous, though. I lived through several ice storms as a little kid before I ever saw my first snow.

MadDogMaddux
8th of January, 2010, 14:35
Hey! Looks like you guys broke the Colt!

Roll Tide!!!

LightBringer
8th of January, 2010, 14:56
Yeah, the Tide Rolled right over them!!

Chris Chandler
8th of January, 2010, 17:31
Texas still nearly took the game. Their defense was monstrous. What was it, 6 sacks? Are you kidding? Really good, if ugly, game.

Doombot
8th of January, 2010, 22:49
Six sacks? Wow, sounds like they borrowed Greg Jones. Who? Greg Jones!

LadyGlutter
9th of January, 2010, 03:45
ROLL TIDE!!!!

Yeah. It was a nail biter, even with Colt out of the picture. I kind of wish he'd been in, because already so many people are trying to put an asterisk on the game. Within two minutes of the game ending, I was reading from people who were discounting the victory. That kind of talk is just disrespectful to Gilbert (the replacement QB) -- he did great for a freshman quarterback in a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP situation he didn't expect to be in, and showed that he could turn things around real quick. Anyway, you don't count on only one person to make sure your team functions properly, or else you lose when that person can't play.

Ironically, it turns out that McElroy (our QB) played the whole game with two broken ribs that he got in the Florida game last month. That explains a lot about how he was playing.

Best comment I heard so far about the game, though, was in reference to celebration after a lineman made a TD and threw the ball off somewhere, bouncing up and down like he was in a Moonwalk. People were talking smack about how undisciplined that was, especially for Alabama.

"Linemen, sir, are special cases."

LightBringer
9th of January, 2010, 06:03
Hey, it's a team sport like you said, and if they want to put an asterik, then I ask, "Since when do quarterbacks play Defense?"

Furthermore, Big Ben hurt his throwing arm shoulder as well last week, and he played through it, letting it hang limp until he stepped up for the snap, for a large portion of the game.

What!?! Is the Colt that much of a wuss??

MadDogMaddux
9th of January, 2010, 08:21
Well, I for one would like to see Boise State vs. Alabama - but it'll never happen. :p

re: Colt -it's a good thing for him he got hurt, if he's lucky it'll be enough to keep him from being drafted by the Rams.

Chris Chandler
9th of January, 2010, 10:49
I'd be more worried about seeing such a career flounder for two years with the Lions!

MadDogMaddux
9th of January, 2010, 15:35
Same thing these days. The Lions get second pick, I believe, and already have a young QB they're bleeding dry. The Rams, on the other hand, have 1st pick and....Bulger.

I'm just waiting for them to draft a promising college QB, start him immediately, and so ruin his carreer.

Doombot
9th of January, 2010, 16:13
It's funny; our awesome QB from a few years ago (Drew Stanton) is awesome, and so far -- from what I've heard -- he's put on a pretty good show on the rare occasion that they put him in. Of course, this is the Lions, and we can't have any winners playing, so he seldom sees playtime. But hey, if the first and second-string QBs bite it, we have a shot!

MadDogMaddux

In other news, y'all might be interested in this -- Gamers Helping Haiti (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=78023&SRC=haiti), where a $20 donation gets you over $1000 worth of RPG titles. I'll try to post a reply later tonight, if time allows. Chris, is there anything I should know about the river? Location, basic description, etc? For one, I'm assuming it's wet.

Chris Chandler
30th of January, 2010, 12:10
The river -

It is a lush subtropical gorge, full of exotic flowers and trees. The river is wide and slow moving and there are small islands along the central channel. You get the sense that it was early evening, and still warm. You only see a section of the river as you never looked behind you and the river's flow faded into the night air.

Wait, I don't check in this many days in a row and there's absolutely no Superbowl talk? Wow.

LB's likely still recovering from his... celebrating.

Doombot
10th of February, 2010, 14:28
Um, go Saints? I dunno, I don't really follow pro football. I only know four things: The Lions suck, Ringer plays for the Titans, Peko plays for the bengals, and Ditka vs. a hurricane is a no brainer...unless it's Hurricane Ditka.

I'm back. I was totally unable to get to the website yesterday. I tried like 5 times but it kept telling me it couldn't find the site.

Hmmm sounds like someone was rooting for the Colts, cause that was a heck of a defensive battle on both sides.

oh yeah, "YAY SAINTS" :cool::cool::cool:

I knew that some people suffer kindly through college talk, so what the hey? ;) Props to the Saints!

MadDogMaddux
12th of February, 2010, 15:30
No kibbitz, the Saints played a good game. But I'm aggrieved and irritated at the fact that two teams that are offensive powerhouses failed to make a real shootout of it. The game simply lacked any intensity, and that was really dissappointing to me.

Sorry about my absence guys, I've been having trouble getting to ORP until today.

LightBringer
13th of February, 2010, 10:54
Actually MD thats why I enjoyed it so, the defenses finally stepped up and actually did some work. They didn't get any sacks, well except the one, or really good hits, but the coverage in the secondary was outstanding. I like a high scoring game myself, but I was very happy it wasn't all on one side of the scoreboard. That's the games that I don't like. What's the point of watching if one team is ahead by 30 points.

Doombot

LadyGlutter

Doombot
24th of February, 2010, 23:48
I didn't realize his brain was hard to begin with, nor that that was even a problem. Granted, my brain is moist and tender -- a veritable zombie delicacy -- but I don't see that as a reason to scorn those whose brains have a certain...unsoftness to them.

LadyGlutter

Chris: How many auras are on/around the home? And also, do any of the circles look disturbed?

Chris Chandler
18th of March, 2010, 12:37
There are five auras on the house right now. It looks as though up to 20 auras of some form had been established, but most have been either disturbed, disrupted, or otherwise made unusable. Every aura or evidence of a passed dweomer has the signature of abjurative magic. There are none that seem more potent that a moderate abjuration, though.

If you want to try and figure out just what spells are actually on the home, let me know.

Doombot
19th of March, 2010, 04:20
I would, if you could be so kind.

Chris Chandler
20th of March, 2010, 13:36
The five spells on the house are

Magic Circle against Evil (x2, one in front of the front doorframe and one along the back wall, you can tell that there have been repeat castings of these spells)
Guards and Wards (within the interior of the home - you can glance through the single loosely shuttered window).
Arcane Lock (on the back wall)
Glyph of Warding (in front of the front doorframe)

LadyGlutter
22nd of March, 2010, 03:01
I'm missing Aros' second option. (I asked Chris, too, to make sure I wasn't being dizzy. ;) He only saw the one.)

Doombot
22nd of March, 2010, 13:57
Ok, I clarified a bit. Thanks for the catch; that's what I get for talking to Ange and trying to type at the same time. Basically, the options are:

1) Aros enters the house on his own, taking advantage of his constant nondetection effect to bypass the glyph
2) Try to use dispelling strike (subject to Chris' ok) to take out some of the spells
3) Drop an ESA antimagic field and have everyone stick close to him.

Doombot
23rd of March, 2010, 05:04
Chris, do those footprints that Malak found jive with the spells at all? For example, does it seem that the woman that was circling the house is the one responsible for casting all the circles, and the dwarf is responsible for the glyphs, etc, etc?

LightBringer
25th of March, 2010, 05:41
Sorry guys, RL has been seriously hectic.

Chris Chandler
25th of March, 2010, 13:33
You would peg the dwarf as the sole spellcaster. The girl's path never wavers nor seems to slow or stop until it branches off, leaving the house. The dwar's prints clearly stop at those regular intervals. The other set is different and apart, more recent.

LadyGlutter
25th of March, 2010, 14:27

Doombot
6th of April, 2010, 13:58
Too bad about Butler. I was really hoping they would do it, partly because they're the home team, partly because they're the underdogs, partly because I hate Duke and didn't want coach K to win another National Championship. But mostly because, had they won, it would have completely revived my battered and broken EvenFlo bracket and I would have risen, like a fiery, phoenixy Jesus Christ from the bottom of the rankings to number one, which would bestow upon me not only $180, but eternal bragging rights.

As it is, I placed in the number two spot, out of sixty, and won $75, and that ain't hay. The bragging rights aren't quite as good, but they're pretty damn close. My bracket was atrocious after the first couple of weeks.

MadDogMaddux
8th of April, 2010, 04:09
Thanks Doom.

Originally Malak had an animal companion, a falcon named Jess (pun intended)! I couldn't remember if I'd moved that name to a bow or not.

He has two bows, Jess and Bessie I think. Jess should be sacred/holy/metalline, and Bessie should be wounding/greater dispelling/shattermantle.....

MadDogMaddux
9th of April, 2010, 13:36
What is this red ring of death?

Doombot
9th of April, 2010, 21:01
It goes on an Xbox 360, and looks like this:
http://static.squidoo.com/resize/squidoo_images/-1/lens1769536_ring_of_death.JPG

Those red lights are supposed to be green indicator lights that show what controller is currently turned on. When they appear like so, it typically means you have hardware failure, which, I understand, is often the result of using lead-free solder that becomes brittle when exposed to high heat, like the inside of a game console. It's supposedly an easy fix, but if you try, then Microsoft won't touch it should you need to send it in.

LightBringer
10th of April, 2010, 06:24
Well since the warranty is over, sounds like it's time to get the old solder gun out of the closet. :)

Cat urine: Affirmative

There's some corrosion of the circuit board below the power switch under the main face plate, and there's dried urine all over the inside of the box. Chris Chandler

Hey Chris, could I make a Knowledge: Arcana check to see what would happen if I popped up an AMF in the house?

Chris Chandler
24th of June, 2010, 01:40
Sure -

The AMF would be localized here. If you are in a pocket dimension, then you are here. The AMF would not affect your location. You see glimpses of the material plane, but you have shown that they are windows (one literally), but not portals, when you chopped through the wall directly. There is additional extradimensional space being created through some means (you are not sure if it is a spell, or what sort of transmutation or conjuration could pull off such a trick), but the AMF wouldn't suppress anything to cause you to shift back. I mean, the house, as far as you can tell, is in a pocket within the Ethereal. It just so happens to have some link back to the material plane. An AMF would not help you access that link.

Doombot
24th of June, 2010, 02:49

They do, indeed. In fact, should you be patient enough (which, as the hunter of the undead, I expect just a pinch of patience) you will see other prints materialize. I mentioned it in the other game, but I believe I neglected to mention it here (I guess I consider ORP to be one big soup, where everybody knows everything at some point): I will be on the road the next several days, and thus will have spotty web access, likely to the point of non-existence. If I can peek my head in, I will, but you guys may not see much of me until Sunday. Toodles!
