The last two weeks have been the most eventful and dramatic ever recorded in galactic history.

The Chancellor became Emperor.

The Senate became obsolete.

The Seperatists were nullified.

And the Jedi were eliminated.

It has been a bumpy two weeks, and now the Emperor has started on a new campaign to purify the galaxy of any remaining enemies.

But hope hasn't been entirely lost...a few show promise of the courage and strength needed to stand up to this tyrant.

Most notably, Senator Organa from Alderaan. He has been feeling out possibilities for forming a resistance to the Emperor, making claims that he is the Dark Lord of the Sith and many other accusations. Whether these are true or not is up to you.

But his influence is slowly spreading, and he has asked that any who are willing to fight against the Empire meet in person.

Through your contacts, you have discovered the location and time of the meeting, and have made arrangements to be there...

--------------------------------------------------

This campaign will run with the new Star Wars SAGA Edition rules. If you do not have the new rulebook, then I do not recommend playing. The rules have alot of major changes from the Revised Edition. I will help everybody with character creation, but I'm not going to explain all the differences that have major changes (i.e. all the combat rules, talents, force powers, etc).

This will be set right after Episode III. There will be a focus on the birth of the Rebellion, however you are not strictly bound to the Rebellion if you want to explore other paths. You cannot start out as an Imperial spy acting on behalf of the Emperor...however nothing would stop you from trying to leak information to the Empire and it could result in some interesting situations (PM me before the game starts if you intend to do this, and do not let any other players know, lets keep it a surprise). There would be major risks for you to do something like this...especially if the other players caught you.

There will also be possibilities to join the Inquisitors and other groups that work with the Empire. But this is not an immediate thing, and you have to earn the right to get into these groups.

Or perhaps you'll remain neutral like Han Solo and offer your services to the highest bidder...

The reality of this campaign is that anything will be possible if you work towards it.

I have several custom rules for this campaign as follows:

Ability Scores: You can use any of the three methods outlined (4d6 dropping the lowest die for each, the 25 point-buy "planned" method, or the "standard score package"). However once you make your decision on which method to use, you cannot change your mind. For the 4d6 method you can reroll all the stats as much as you want (but you have to reroll all of them at once).

Species: Ewoks have not been discovered yet, so they are not allowed. Also, this is my first SAGA campaign, so no Droids please unless you are really set on playing one (discuss it with me first).

Classes: We'll need at least 1 Scoundrel, and preferably a Noble and Soldier. I do not recommend Jedi (read the next paragraph).

Jedi: The Jedi are now enemies of the Empire. You can play a Jedi, but since we're starting at level 1 chances are your Master will have been killed (maybe trying to escape with you?) - you will be alone. If you are found by Imperial troops, you will be killed on sight. So if you want a very challenging role, then go for it - but it will be very very difficult.

Force Users: You make take the Jedi class and not belong to the Jedi order. If such is the case, you will not start with a Lightsaber. This is the same as choosing the Force Adept class from the previous edition - in the SAGA rules Jedi class is a generic force user template, not specifically a Jedi Knight.

Feats: I highly recommend against Force Sensitivity or Strong in the Force (see Jedi above).

Force Points: FP's will be restored on an irregular basis, not just when you level up. It's up to you discover how.

Force Powers: The following 4 force powers can only be learned from a teacher or some sorts (you cannot learn this powers just by yourself): Farseeing, Negate Energy, Force Lightning, and Sever Force. This is because any of these 4 powers can really unbalance a level 1 character.

Force Technique - Force Point Recovery: Taking this power gives you a maximum of 1 point recovered regardless of how many force points you spent during an encounter. You can take this technique multiple times to get more points back however.

Destiny: Everybody will have a Destiny. You can have some say in what yours is, however your true destiny will be hidden and it's up to you to discover it.

Prestige Classes: Any but Sith will be allowed (however if you roleplay it will and get presented with the opportunity, this may be negotiable...). Jedi Knight and Jedi Master will not be easy to get into, but they will be reachable.

Starting Credits: Everybody starts with their max credits except for Jedi, who have to roll.

Dice: All dice rolls will be handled in a specific dice rolling thread that I will create. If you edit a dice roll post, you'll get punished severely. Additionally, certain dice rolls will be handled by me (i.e. Deception, Will-affecting abilities, and anything else that affects the mind/perceptions of people).

Secret Agenda: If you have some sort of secret agenda (i.e. joining the Empire and betraying the Rebellion, etc) - then PM it to me. This type of information will be hidden from everybody to reduce metagaming and keep things more interesting as time goes by.

Posting Frequency: 3 times per week minimum, however 5 would be ideal. I am a full time webmaster, so I'm basically on the internet 10+ hours a day.

I'm looking for 4-6 players. If interested, reply here with a brief concept of your character.

Very interesting.

I'll have to get back to you with specifics after work.

I'm assuming the starting level is 1; I couldn't see the info in the original post.

Yes, starting at level 1 :)

Alright, I looked over the classes and races and have a few ideas. I'm fairly flexible if someone else absolutely must play that one class, though :)

The character ideas so far:

1) Trandoshan Soldier: A traditionalist who considers any sort of combat that doesn't leave your hands and weapons bloodied dishonorable and refuses to use fancy-pants energy weapons. He tries to stick to those principles by using his wits to avoid situations where things might get sticky otherwise; i.e. he is not completely delusional :)

2) Ithorian Scout: Very ponderous and careful, always planning and thinking before doing, an intellectual who simply loves the joy of discovery and finding that theories about old and lost civilizations turned out to be correct in practice.

3) Human Noble: Because the world needs more humans and because arrogant noble kids are fun, especially when they get kicked out by their parents for being arrogant and have to learn to fend for themselves. Hmm...actually, make that a Zabrak noble. Or possible a Rodian noble, which would be funny on many levels. Humans are the most boring race alive. Which is still better than the Gungans. *shudder*

4) Twi'lek Jedi: She wanted to become a Scoundrel, but peer pressure and naggy parents forced her to become a Jedi instead...just because of that tiny bit of force sensitivity. As a tiny act of rebellion, will absolutely refuse to use the silly lightsabers that other Jedis walk around with and instead only use guns. Preferably two at the same time. The lack of lightsaber and Jedi clothing made her much harder to identify, which, combined with her minimal training, might explain how she escaped the purge. Might multi-class into Scoundrel at some point to fulfil her destiny of stealing the world.

Of the four concepts that popped into my head, the noble might be my least favourite, possibly because I already played a spoiled bratty ex-princess once :). I am most fond of the blaster-wielding Jedi, which I consider to be a holdover from a Kotor game I played with a main character who liked to shoot other Jedi with her guns and laugh at their inability to deflect the shots.

We'll see what other people might want to play. If other people start showing interest...maybe on the weekend...

Somebody should get Linklegacy on this shizzle. Wasn't he the one wanting Saga Edition?

Any of those concepts would work Eben, which would you prefer to play?

Is anybody else interested?

Saga Edition!

Oh, and you may want to revise this rule:
For the 4d6 method you can reroll all the stats as much as you want (but you have to reroll all of them at once).

Basically, with that rule in place, I can choose whatever ability scores I want, because if I roll enough times, I will eventually reach the exact results I want. All one has to do is roll an arbitrary number of times until the desired result is achieved.

I'd like to play a jedi, and I know exactly what you mean about it being suicide.

I'm interested. This would be the first game I've played in over a year, and I've been itching to try out the SAGA rules since I got the book.

I don't have a concept yet since I'm at work, but I'm a rogue lover at heart, so playing a Scoundrel would be fine by me.

EDIT: I've been thinking of a human Corellian scoundrel working his way into smuggling and hoping eventually to gain his own ship. Heavily thinking of the fortune and misfortune luck trees. Kind of basing my idea on a cross between Mal from Firefly, Han Solo, and Chode from Tripping the Rift. Not so much smart as lucky, but definitely skilled with a pistol. the scoundrel would eventually move into Gunslinger.

Cool, we've got 3 players now :)

Link - you're right. I meant to include that. If you re-roll your stats, you have to re-roll all of them. And dice rolling will be done in a thread that I setup. So if you aren't happy with 1 stat and want to reroll. you'll need to reroll all 6 stats.

Lets see if we can get 1-2 more players and then I'll post the forum request :)

Work on your concepts to make sure you want to play them and we'll get going shortly :)

So if you aren't happy with 1 stat and want to reroll. you'll need to reroll all 6 stats. Not quite what he meant, although that helps a lot. What he means is that there's no reason that he couldn't roll ten thousand times until he gets all 18s, if he's got the patience. So while the thread keeps it legit, there's still the possibility of the utter ridiculousness so loved on these boards. ;)

Don't like Star Wars, but I'm curious to see a SAGA game run. So I'll keep an eye on this one... as always.

LeadPal is right. The rule as stated just lets me pick my ability scores and move on, because one can safely assume that if I roll enough, I will eventually get the scores I want.

True, but if you want to sit there for several days doing nothing but creating new posts in the dice rolling thread, all the power to you lol :)

I'd say we'll allow a max of 5 rerolls, and if you do a reroll you can't revert back to the previous set. So if you did use all 5 rerolls, you'll have to use roll #5 regardless of whether it's better or not. This way everybody has to be cautious about rerolling, as you could just as easily end up with a bunch of 7-10 scores are opposed to a few 14's and 15's and 1 sub part score that you might initially role :)

That is a better rule, as it sets a limit.

Eww, WoW... :)

Hmm, there's now a Jedi AND a Scoundrel...I guess there would be a tad too much overlap with my poor Jedi/Scoundrel Twi'lek.

I own and have played/gmed SAGA and I'm a SW nut, so count me in if you got room. Since you got a jedi and a scoundrel, would a soldier future bounty hinter be alright?

At this point, anything goes really.

What we have right now:

Eben - Twi'Lek Jedi/Scoundrel
Mercutio - Scoundrel ala Han Solo
Lando - Soldier / BH

A noble would make a nice roundoff for this group if anybody wants to take the job.

The beauty about SW is that it doesn't matter if you have multiple scoundrels or other classes. Unlike D&D, there isn't a specific class that is really needed (i.e. a healer). So anything goes :)

Any other takers?

I'll be posting the forum request later tonight, but I'll be accepting players until we get 5-6 total.

>_>

You completely skipped over me...

Anyway: I've decided I'd like to play a soldier/elite trooper.

Forum is up - everybody head over there. You can start making your characters and post them to the Databank subforum. I don't have a character sheet template - just make sure we can actually read your sheet :)
