Ok so here it is. After bouncing around ideas for the past few months I have settled on what my next campaign is going to be. For those of you who don't know (which would be most on this board i suppose) I play WOW. But as awesome as WOW is there are some things that bug the ever living daylights out of me. the biggest one being that, despite it being an MMO there are some really cool storylines but since it is an MMO they have no...how shall i put this...sense of closure to them because the super big ultimate badass you spent two years working to kill and save the world re spawns after a couple minutes ... ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!
SO after discovering warcraft D20 I figured I would give it a shot and set a campaign beginning at the opening of the dark portal and the initial push into outland.
I'll provide full details if enough people are interested but here is the jist of it. It's D&D 3.5 based so if you don't have the warcraft D20 books have no fear, it's all the same rules with the exceptions of the races and I can e-mail you scans of the race you want to play...or type it depending on how i feel at the time :P. Other then the races for simplicity's sake (because some of the classes in the warcraft books are needlessly convoluted) I'll just let you use the normal 3.5 classes. but don't hesitate to play one of the warcraft classes if you have the books or ask about it if you don't.
Sorry if all that is a bit on the confusing side. i typed up this post in about 5 minutes :P well off to play world of warcrack...i mean warcraft for an hour or so before bed. Drop me a line in this thread if your interested.

I'm totally in.
Now, is this World of Warcraft, the Roleplaying Game, or just the Warcraft Roleplaying Game?
Strangely, there is a huge difference between the two.

I've never played WoW, but I'm interested. I do need to keep tabs on my nemesis, after all. ;) I might bow out if there are lots and lots of interested players (since I'm sure just about everyone knows the setting better than I do), but I'm sure I could pick up everything I need to know.
I think I'll play a shaman of some kind... with regular D&D classes, probably a cleric as opposed to a druid. Maybe a Tauren. Like Shatner! :D

Okay so thats three. Two or three more and we can get underway. And Link i'm not quite sure what you mean there. could you elaborate a bit?

What are the classes in this RPG?
Do they have the WoW classes? (Warrior, rogue, shaman, druid, paladin, mage, warlock etc.)
Heroes from WC3? (Demon Hunter, Warden, Death Knight etc.)
D&D classes? (We all know these)

Oh. D&D (if i pre approve it. some things just wont fit after all) and anything from the warcraft D20 books.

It was simply a matter of time before this happened.
I don't have much experience with Warcraft as a whole, but I think it is a fun game. I have heard of the Warcraft RPG, but I don't have any books. I really want to play.
Maybe a Tauren. Like Shatner! http://www.online-roleplaying.com/forums/images/smilies/smiley%20-%20grin.gif
I want to be a Tauren too! Hell, if Shatner can do it, so can I! On a similar note, I actually have a friend that got killed by Mr. T.

Oooh, this sounds interesting! I've always liked the setting of WoW a lot, but not the grind at all. =/
Coincidentally I picked up the core book out of curiosity! Can I ask for some more details, such as where it will be and what faction we'll all be? With the Tauren I'm seeing a Horde bent, heh, in which case I'd like a Blood/High Elven Paladin.
May you bend the light to your will!

I'm interested as well! A little more info would be nice though like what side/level you're looking for.

Well thats 7 interested so i think i'll put in the request. The side seems to be leaning toward horde at this point so that's a safe bet. as for level it IS set in outland so I was thinking Level 14 to start with stats at 32 point buy. HUZZAH FOR HIGH POWERED GAMES!. I know more about the horde anyway since in WOW my 70 is a horde warlock and i've never played an alliance character past 30

Ahhh.....I guess the levels work differently from WOW, else our lvl 14 characters are going to get a hard time in Outland!!:D
I am not familiar with the special rules, but I do have the World of Warcraft roleplaying book on file, so I can check it out.
hmmm....a Blood Elf Warlock comes to mind......

Heh, a party of little bitty Bloodies and big old Cows? =D Sounds like fun.
The WoW RPG books are backwards compatible with the Warcraft ones, they're just streamlined so that the classes aren't so needlessly complex and the races don't have level adjustments, they did a cool thing where a race's more powerful inherent abilities are unlocked using a special racial class, which never imposes an XP penalty.
The classes are SERIOUSLY better in the WoW book. It would make playing a BElf Pally much more fun as I seriously dislike the prestige class approach from the Warcraft book. =/ Also, it makes the Paladin class' Aura of Good an interesting tool instead of a quirk, as most Blood Elves are neutral or evil. >3
