I look at Lin, sharply. "Fools? Really? If a big building showed up in my neighborhood overnight, I'd be curious, too."

Outlawjc

"Curious but Causious. Anyone think their might be another way into the building like a backdoor or something? Maybe a more subtle way in than just opening the front door..."

Chris Chandler

Curious isn't the same as greedy, Erin. These men have the look of unprepared greed.

"So shall we enter, as long as we stick together and watch each others back."

Anthony makes a quick inspection around the building and confirms there is only one door to the building. He also confirms that there are eight sides to the building, just as it had looked upon approach. Up close you now can tell the building is about 30 meters tall. The green cobblestone road leads up to eight 10 meter wide steps, that lead to a large set of green stone double doors. The doors appear to swing out, and each door contains a large silver ring.

Anthony pulls one of the silvar rings and the doors open wide. He enters. After the group follows him in the doors begin to slowly close behind the group. Everyone sees a large room that has a 30 meter ceiling. It in fact appears as if the chamber takes up enough space to be the entire building. The chamber is made of the same glowing green stone as the outside. In the very center is a large, about a 50 radius, fountain that is made of the same stone. The water overflows from carved bowl, and trickles down into the pool below.

In the center of each wall of the chamber is a large, 10 foot, door. These too are made from the green stone. The entrance door fully closes cutting of the light from outside. The green glow of the stone is now quite obvious. After a moment, the room simply 'lights up' to a nice comfortable level on the eyes.

(Whatever shall you do?)

LadyGlutter

We see no one else in here but us?

I try the door, to see how easy it is to leave.

LightBringer
23rd of June, 2009, 07:28
There is no one else in the 'fountain room', just you and eight doors. You turn and try the door you just entered. It does not budge. Anthony turns and helps you. The door makes no movement what-so-ever.

Vash The Stampide

Vash-

"So now there game begins. Eight doors leading on, this should prove interesting."

Outlawjc

I get my water skin and walk over to the fountain, at first I'll just dip in a piece of the strap and pull it out if it doesn't do something fishy I'll fill my skin up with the water," There might be something to this stuff you know..."

After that I'll look to the group and the seven other doors," So which way? flip a coin, make a wish into the fountain, which might not be a bad idea, or do we break the first rule of going into a strange place?"

Vonapier
23rd of June, 2009, 11:05
My hand goes on the hilt of my sword and i take a more careful eye to my surroundings.

"Look, i know we have no idea as to what is behind those doors but dont think for one second that were splitting up."

LightBringer
23rd of June, 2009, 13:18
Reese you deep the strap of your water skin into the water, and nothing happens. The water looks clear and refreshing. As you fill your skin, you see that the bottom of the fountain is littered with coins, and some gems.

Outlawjc
23rd of June, 2009, 14:10
"Well the fountain is a wishing well..."but I'm leaving the wishes where they are who knows what would happen though its a lot of booty. "So which way then if we are not splitting up?"

Vash The Stampide

Vash-

"Well, we could just not over think it and just go to the one across from the entrance."

Chris Chandler

Which one would Knives have chosen?

Vonapier
24th of June, 2009, 15:35
"I would suggest we merely look into each doorway to see what is in each then make a decision from what is witnessed instead simply picking a random door."

LadyGlutter
25th of June, 2009, 00:35
"No, I don't think we'd be overthinking it to take our time. We could get very lost."

I look at the door my hand is on, inspecting it. Next I go to the next door, clockwise. Do they appear identical?

LightBringer
25th of June, 2009, 04:31
Erin, the front doors are the only doors that are different, being it is a double door, other than that it looks just like every other door. In fact as you move from door to door you notice there are no seams in the wall. The walls look to have been carved from one piece of stone.

Each door besides the main doors are about 10 feet tall, and 5 feet wide. Each has a silver knob in the center of the door.

Reese in fact notices while standing at the fountain, that it is not actually circular, but in fact is has 8 sides, like the room.

Vash The Stampide
25th of June, 2009, 06:17
Vash-

"Well, between me and knives he was the one alittle more built for combat, and a direct approach. While I was usually waiting for the time to strike. But to the bases of choosing between doors, I dont really know. Im pretty sure he would have tried to mark which one he went in tho. So we could look to see if he did that, hunter lesson one o one."

Ill look more closely at the doors, the floor infront of the doors and the edge of the doors.

Chris Chandler
25th of June, 2009, 12:46
I'll nod in agreement, and I'll scrutinize each door, for any more outside of an accidental scuff or scrape.

"I have a feeling that if we touch a door, that is the door that we will have to enter, so don't touch the nobs until we are sure that we know which door we want."

LightBringer
25th of June, 2009, 22:35
Each door is exactly the same, and there are no marks on any door. The surfaces are flawless. There are no marks on the floor either, which runs seamlessly into the walls.

No doors have been touched during this inspection.

LadyGlutter
25th of June, 2009, 23:30
"Well, since the main door is different, even slightly, I think it makes the most sense to go in the first one to one side and work our way around. So, a wishing well, you say?"

I walk up to the well, pull out a coin, and wish (silently of course, don't want to jinx it) that we find Knives and get out of here in one piece. I flip the coin in and watch.

LightBringer
26th of June, 2009, 00:12
Erin, you make the wish, and watch the coin float down to the bottom, where it settles among the other coins there.

Chris Chandler
26th of June, 2009, 12:51
Sounds good enough. Let's act.

Vonapier
27th of June, 2009, 02:23
"Agreed, lets try this one."

I move over to the door to the left of the entrance we came in at.

LightBringer
27th of June, 2009, 07:55
Okay you move over to the door Von.

There it is.

The door.

It doesn't move or anything.

;)

Chris Chandler
27th of June, 2009, 09:45
Wait!

First, we need to form a subcommittee, for the purpose of determining which way we should turn the knob, and who should do the deed. This subcommittee will be comprised of three members, nominated and agreed upon by voice vote, settled by a large majority. This subcommittee shall have a designated head of the committee, to be voted upon by the members of the subcommittee after said subcommittee has been established. This designated head will then make the executive decisions on administering duties related to door approaching and doorknob turning.

Vash The Stampide

"Just open it, but first. Hunter lesson 101, mark the way."

Ill take out the spear and scar the door, before opening it.

Chris Chandler
27th of June, 2009, 12:30
I'll be right at Vash's side, ready to pull him back should there be a problem. I'm trying to pay attention to anything that sounds like a mechanism - a click or a low rumble, even quiet. I would like to know if there is any undue sound from opening this door.

LightBringer
27th of June, 2009, 13:59
Vash draws his spear and attempts to mark the door.

No mark appears on the door.

LadyGlutter
28th of June, 2009, 09:22
I search in my pack. "I've not got any thing to mark it with, but I'm sure I've got a ribbon in here. Here." I walk between the guys and tie it around the doorknob. "Yes, the ribbon can be moved, but this thing is stone, and magic. We're not going to scar it that easy, so this is probably as good as we're going to get... that and simple memory. It's left from the entrance. We've talked it through, checked it out... so let's go."

I grasp the doorknob and turn it, pushing it forward.

LightBringer
29th of June, 2009, 12:07
Erin turns the knob the pushes the door open. There are no undo clicks, or ticks, or rumbles. Nothing jumps from the door to attack the group. You see a hallway, and nothing more.

(Would you like to proceed in? What says the subcommittee :) )

Vonapier

LightBringer
7th of July, 2009, 07:15
Unless Lin does anything to prevent their entry, Lin, Reese and Vash, will be in the same room.

Which really isn't a room per se, Lin, Vash, and Reese, find themselves in a hallway that is 10' wide by 100' long. To the left you see 8 doors numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Door 1 is at the other end of the hall, and door 8 is right next to where the three of you entered. (This is ofcourse if Lin doesn't stop the other two.)

Erin, Anthony, and Von are in a room that is 60' by 75'. Directly across from the door is a large octagonal wheel hung about 15' off the floor. In front of the wheel is a large rectangular table with a smaller round table beside the larger one. As you approach the tables you see they are covered in a navy blue cloth-like fabric. The wheel is numbered 1 through 8, a number on each side. The numbers glow with the colors of the rainbow, but the colors shift constantly. Both tables are made of marble, on the larger one, a row on the cloth is outlined in white making boxes numbered 1 - 8. On the smaller table are octagonal chips glowing in the colors of gold, silver, and ruby.

Vonapier
7th of July, 2009, 08:23
I look at the room with blank look

"What a vibrant display of colors. I wonder what the wheel is for."

Chris Chandler
7th of July, 2009, 13:06
I look to Reese -

1 is down there... and 8 is right here. Split the difference or start from the beginning?

I talk as I'm walking. If I get to #4 before someone responds, that one is opening.

Outlawjc
7th of July, 2009, 14:13
"Fine I'll split the difference..." I go to door 4 and open it...if it is the same as the first two I go in.

((that is that I assume Lin wants us to have people in doors 1, 4, and 7... as 8 is the door we came in))

Vash The Stampide
7th of July, 2009, 17:46
Vash-

"We can always split the difference, or does the end justify the means?"

LightBringer
8th of July, 2009, 04:46
Erin and Anthony look at the tables for a moment, then Anthony goes and checks the door. Confirming his suspicions, he turns back to you two shaking his head. Once back at the table Anthony looks at Erin, and then looks at Von.

Von, you've seen similar tables set up in the back rooms of the temples on gambling days. You are fairly certain that to bet you place a chip on one of the numbers, or multiple chips, or multiple numbers. The chips are just shiny disc. You do not see any value assigned to them.

The numbered doors are to the left of the door Lin, Vash, and Reese entered. So to split would put one of you at door 1, one at door 4, and the other at door 8. Unless, you mean you all go into door 4, and then go into a different door?

(Right now I'll say the three of you are standing at door 4, but I'll leave it closed until I'm sure of what's going on.)

Vonapier
8th of July, 2009, 05:43
"This seems to be a gambling table...but im curious as to what were gambling for?"

I look around the room for any other doors, Then at the chips, then to Anthony and Erin.

"Looks like we might have to play to move on or get out."

LadyGlutter
8th of July, 2009, 07:46
I grin, "This is your forte, is it not, Monsieur FancyPants? As to what we're gambling for -- well, one way to find out..."

Despite my teasing Von, I go ahead and pick up a ruby chip and examine it. Then I place it on 3.

Chris Chandler
8th of July, 2009, 11:20

Door 4 does indeed open. Behind the door is a layer of mist. No matter how hard you try you can't see through the mist.

Outlawjc

LightBringer

Following suit Von picks up a silver chip, "Go big or go home", and places it on number 8.

All the chips feel warm to the touch, and when Von places his chip on the table the wheel begins to spin.

You toss in the coin, and hear it as it skips across the floor. There is no noise from the one you hurl in trying to hit a back wall.

LadyGlutter
10th of July, 2009, 06:47

Chris Chandler
10th of July, 2009, 12:17
No, not yet. We know that this hall, if that is what it is, is full of mist. Meteorological phenomena like fog usually doesn't occur inside, especially in an aboveground structure. It's hiding something. let's go down to the end of the hall, to #1.

Outlawjc
10th of July, 2009, 12:25

The wheel spins around for 20 -30 seconds then slowly comes to a stop on number......3. (So says L's die roll)

Anthony's brow furoows slightly as he acts like something just happened to him, or perhaps something touched him.

Von, you have a similar feeling. As if a piece of you just left.

Erin, You feel a boost in your confidence. You suddenly feel vibrant. Anthony seems to have forgotten his loss, as he nods his head and gives you an approving, "Hmmm."

Lin, Vash, and Reese move to door 1. Like door 4 it opens with no problem, and behind it is a layer of fog.

Vonapier
12th of July, 2009, 03:43
"Somethings not right."

I look at anthony, and then erin.

"I would like not to lose this gambling match for i fear that my loss could be too great."

"But im afraid i have no choice."

I pick up a gold chip from the table and look at it closely.

Vash The Stampide

LightBringer
14th of July, 2009, 11:51
Lin's group tie themselves together, Reese, Vash, and then Lin. Reese enters the mist. It's actually quite cool and refreshing. Vash on the other hand bounces hard off the mist. There seems to be an invisible barrier there now. When Vash bounces off the rope falls, severed.

Von you already bet a silver chip when Erin bet ruby, and Anthony bet gold. Erin won. You and Anthony lost. You know you lost some cognitive power. Are you wanting to bet again?

Vash The Stampide
14th of July, 2009, 12:23

LadyGlutter
15th of July, 2009, 04:50

Vonapier
15th of July, 2009, 05:46

((Anthony just got dumber!? I mean... that's just horrible.))

I see the immediate situation and attempt to break the barrier with a breaking blow. If that does not seem to work, I will immediately look to see how far the barrier goes.

LadyGlutter
16th of July, 2009, 00:25
I kinda grin at Anthony, "You sure, hmmm? Okay then."

And I bounce out of the room.

(Heh. What's that supposed to mean? Why do you want Anthony dumber? Also deepskyblue looks more aqua to me than usual, as well. Maybe it's just C's computer.)

LightBringer
16th of July, 2009, 04:39
((Actually, Anthony bet gold, not silver. See adjustment above. I originally posted A as gold, and V as silver. So V lost 1 point of IQ, and A lost 1 point of something else.))

Erin, Anthony, and Von return to the main fountain room. There is no sign of the others yet.

Reese, you realize you got seperated and turn to leave, but the mist just swirls as you bounce off of it. You push and kick, but youo are unable to pass.

Lin, you concentrate and focus your energy, but the mist only swirls as your blow lands, and is deflected. The barrier only seems to be on this door. You are quite able to pass your hand through the mist at door 4.

Vash you tag along with Lin for the moment.

Erin, and Von , while you are waiting a group of men stumble through one of the other doors. They look a little worse for wear, but seem pretty happy. Even the guy with an arrow in his shoulder is laughing, "What a shot!" They see the three of you, and quite down. They nod politely as they are making their way to the main door.

Vash The Stampide

LadyGlutter
16th of July, 2009, 23:50
The moment they nod politely, I smile brightly and speak quickly (and loudly), before they can get through the door. "Hello, and it looks like you also deserve congratulations! Would any of you be Knives? My companion Vash is here searching for his childhood friend."

LightBringer
17th of July, 2009, 00:34
Reese you turn around to continue on, and find, you are not in a hallway.

Lin and Vash you attempt to go thru door 4 at the same time. Lin being slightly faster Vash, Lin being slightly faster than everyone ;) , steps thru the mist. You could swear Vash was right with you, yet you stand alone. (I'll describe what you see when Vash picks a door.)

Vash you stepped forward with Lin, but for some reason you are still standing in the hallway outside the mist. You step forward and test the mist, but it will not let you past, just like on door 1. Which door would you like?

The men turn suddenly, as much from shock, as for defensive purposes. They have hands on weapon hilts, when it seems like one of them suddenly realizes what you said, and that it wasn't a battlecry or something. "Thank, you" he says wearily, "No, none of us are this Knives," he suddenly takes a deep breathe, as if he just remembered to breath. "Good luck with your search." He waits for a moment, then begins to turn toward the door.

Vash The Stampide

Door 7 as in 007 Im James, James Bond. lol

LightBringer
17th of July, 2009, 08:25
As Vash steps thru door 7, all the doors snap shut.

The three of you find yourselves standing in a large room. It is a square room with 32 yards per side, and the roof is 30 meters high. The walls and ceiling are made of that green glowing stone. Like the fountain room, you see no signs of lighting, yet the room is well lit. Across from you, you see a row of doors on the opposite wall. Reese entered the door marked 1, but he faces a door marked 8. Lin faces a door marked 5, and Vash faces a door marked 2.

As you notice that the floor is not that green marble, but alternating black and white marble squares, three figures appear across from you in front of the doors.

Across from Reese is a very tall, 10', heavily-muscled man with the head of an elephant. He is armed with a battleaxe, and a tower shield. He is wearing sandles, a loincloth, and metal shoulder pads.

Across from Vash is tall, 8', muscled man with the head of a horse. He is armed with a broadsword, and a heater. His feet are bare, but they appear to be shodded with steel plates. He is wearing what appears to be leather padding.

Across from Lin is tall, 7', toned, but extremely handsome man. He is currently unarmed, and wearing flowing black robes that have a sinister sheen to them.

In fact everyone will now notice that the weapons, shields, and armor of the figure opposite of them are all black, and have that sheen to them.

A booming voice that seems to come from all sides announces, "THE GAME, HAS BEGUN!"

Each of you have begun to glow with a soft white light.

Okay, since the rook is first I'll read his attack-parry, and then Vash's as he has listed parry-attack.

Right off I see there are no crit hits, so the combat plays out in standard rounds.

Round 1: The rook hits, Vash parries, but misses his attack, no parry needed.

Round 2: The rook hits, Vash parries, but misses his attack, no parry needed.

Round 3: The rook hits, Vash parries, but misses his attack, no parry needed, although it would have failed had Vash hit.

Round 4: The rook misses, Vash needs no parry, Vash hits his attack, the rook parries.

Round 5: Both hit, both parry.

Round 6: The rook hits, Vash critically fails to parry, the rooks axe slams into Vash's side (doing avg dam Vash takes 12 points of damage. Giving Vash max def ((be glad I don't have dice)) Vash's armor absorbs 7 points of the damage, leaving 5 points inflicted on Vash. (A serious slash, but not a major wound), the jolt throws Vash off and he misses his attack, no parry needed.

Round 7: The rook misses this time, Vash needs no parry, Vash hits with his attack, the rook parries.

Round 8(aka-The deadly round): The rook swings and hits, Vash misses his parry and takes similar damage as above. Blood now gushes from both sides of Vash. Vash unwavered this time strikes true. The rooks shield fails him again, and Vash's spear pushes thru the thick hide of the rook with a sickly thud. This time the rook screams in pain, and suddenly burst into pieces, which lay scattered across the board.

Vash is victorious........this time.

The only difference from Vash's combat is that Reese attacked the knights position, so the knights rolls will be parry/block - attack. Each paragraph will be a round, but I'm going to leave out the round count, so it's more in story form.))

Reese sets his feet and begins his charge. After jumping over a couple of pieces of the rook, Reese enters the square occupied by the large man/horse. You're thinking more horse than man Reese, by the smell. The black knight raises his heater in defense, and grips his broadsword tightly. Reese makes an excellent attack, but he is blocked by the knight's shield, sending a loud thud, and crack through the room. The black knight whinies, and strikes a true blow himself. Reese swings his axe around in a parrying manuver, but the knights sword scraps along the edge of the axe and strikes Reese in the shoulder. (Using the same formula as Vash: the avg damage of the knight is 8. Reese max def with his armor is 6. Reese takes 2 dam from the knight.) It is no where near a major wound, but first blood is drawn.

Reese swings again, and barely holds on to his weapon. Has our warrior become shaken by the knights skill? The knight needs no block, as the axe swings wide. Apparently the knight is confused himself, as his attack misses its mark as well. Giving Reese the opportunity to fully recover his balance, as no parry is needed.

Reese again swings his mighty axe at the horseman. It is a grand display of fighting skill, as both men would hit one another, but their weapon and shield clash away the others attack in a grand display of defense.

Reese swings, and again his axe is on target. The knight misses his block, as the axe comes over it. The axe slices open the front of the knight. Black blood spews from his chest. He doesn't look good, but he is not down. Reese is off balance with the force of the swing, but the knights sword, misses Reeses head by inches.

Once again Reese has recovered his balance, this time by continuing the previous swing into a full-blown roundhouse. The great axe slams into, and shatters the heater of the knight. Reeses axe buries deep into the knights side. More of the black ichor that is the knights blood flees his body, and sprays across Reeses weapon, as well as his arms. As the knight roars in pain he brings down his sword and slashes Reese down his left side. The axe is buried to deep to wrench it free and parry the blow. Again the damage is minimal, but the knight could only hope for as much, as he explodes into pieces.

((Okay continuing our trend, the King attacked, so his first roll is attack, then parry. Reese is parry/attack.))

The black knig moves into Reeses' space and easily swings the large axe into an arc and brings it down. The move isn't that hard to parry, and Reese does so easily. Although the king hits hard, and throws Reese off just enough to cause his attack to miss, and allows the king a reprieve.

The black king then spins the axe at Reeses' chest. Reese easily manages to parry the swing, and uses its momentum to spin into another roundhouse. The black king twist around and manages to block the vicious swing with his axe. The ringing of metal against metal is interrupted by the sounds of the black kings axe pieces skittering across the floor. Nothing but the handle remains. The grin breaking across Reeses' face can not be stopped, nor can the cheers from Lin, and Vash.

It almost appears as if the king gives you a nod of respect Reese, but your success is short lived, as another battleaxe slowly appears in his hands. The good news is he has no time to attack, but he brings up the axe in time to defend against your assault. There turns out there was no rush as your swing goes wide. Again your mind resets for the deadly combat, moving past the last round.

The black king swings his axe high feigning to the left, then twisting right. Reese brings his axe around, but its to late. The black kings axe slams down into Reeses' shoulder. Both Lin and Vash hear the cracking of bones, as Reeses' knees buckle and his body hits the floor. Blood spills out of Reese slowly spreading across the floor.

No emotions cross the kings face as the axe disappears, and he resumes his former stance. Reeses' body remains at his feet. :hurt:

The black king attacks into Lin's position. In Lin's style the king fights with only his fist. While his first swing appears to be on target, Lin sidesteps the blow, and manages to land one of his own. You can't tell if it was a small grunt, or just part of the thid from impacting on what feels like marble Lin, but you think you were able to damage him somewhat.

The black king recovers his footing, and both he and Lin make nice looking attacks, but niether lands as the men easily defend from the other.

Again the black king makes a nice swing, but Lin ducks under the blow. Lin delivers a quick jab to the black kings midsection. Again Lin feels as he he smashed his fist into stone, but the black king steps back to balance himself.

For almost a minute the black king and Lin fall into a series of jabs, thrusts, and roundhouses. Neither is able to land a blow, as each of their defenses are flawless. Lin continues to duck and weave, while the black king stands his ground and parries everything Lin throws at him.

Suddenly, with a beautiful attack, Lin breaks the cycle and, after dodging around the kings blow, lands a shot right to the kings chest. Again, Lin's fist thuds against the black king, and causes pain to each man. The black king steps back as he explodes. The explosion has serious force as it push you back slightly Lin, but does no more than buffet you.

A loud voice announces, "Game over!"

Erin, Von, and Anthony, nothing else seems to be going on. It's been awhile since you saw the group of men leave. You haven't heard or seen anything since...except for the trickle of water down the fountain, that is.

Vonapier
5th of August, 2009, 11:09
I look at Erin, then at Anthony then at all the doors. I keep in mind what door we came out of, where the men came out of and where they went out of. I need to keep my orientation.

I stand up.

"Ok, whos up for another door?"

Chris Chandler
5th of August, 2009, 13:02
((I'm not sure what that means. I don't have a list of any special equipment outside of my robes and sai.))

Lin administers the potion to Reese. His breathng has stablized, and the bleeding has slowed, almost to a stop. The color is slowly returning to his cheeks, but he remains unconscious.

Lin your hands, and arms are beginning to ache, primarily your arms. While he wasn't aggressively parrying, the black kings blows have caused some swelling, that is beginning to bruise. It's nothing that will kill you, but it still aches none-the-less.

Vash you don't feel much better than Reese looks. You took a lot of damage and are still leaking blood yourself. While not dizzy enough to fall over, the room does spin every now-and-again. While Lin is busy, you notice that the room is very quiet. The set of doors you came in are still closed, as is the set of doors on the black side of the board.

Erin, Anthony shrugs, "It didn't seem like we were in there that long. Then again time could be twisted in here."

Lin you finish with Reese, who is still out cold, and bandage up Vash. It will certainly take longer to heal totally, but Vash should be feeling better shortly.

LadyGlutter

I look at the doors, and walk towards the next one, clockwise. "I guess we should continue around the circle. That way, since they're starting at the end, we should meet in the middle."

I stand there, waiting on the guys to join me. Unless someone objects, I'll go on and open this door as well.

Vonapier

Im with erin.

"Sounds like a plan."

LightBringer
8th of August, 2009, 12:34
As soon as Erin opens the door she is transported into the room. The door begins to close slowly behind her. Anthony steps in, as does Von. You are in a room that is 60' by 75'. Directly across from the door is a large octagonal wheel hung about 15' off the floor. In front of the wheel is a large rectangular table.

Yes it is almost exactly like the other room. As you approach the table you see they are covered in a green cloth-like fabric. There are other other differences in the room. The wheel is numbered 1 through 8, like the other wheel but, instead of rainbow colors, the numbers are made of precious gems. The cloth is table top also has a set of boxes number 1 to 8, but the box is outlined in gold instead of being outlined in white. There is no smaller table in this room though, just the main table.

Vash is bandaged and Reese in moaning, but still out...

Vonapier
8th of August, 2009, 13:35
(Now this room is similar to the last room, with the exception of the precious gem studded numbers? or gems shaped like the numbers? Also, there are boxes on a fabric covered table top with gold embroidered lines, instead of the previous white lines, on the cloth. These boxes are numbered 1 to 8. Is that all there is in the room? just the table and the wheel? no chips? Nothing to bet with?)

Chris Chandler

Ideally I'd make a litter for him, but...

I'll look around the barren room for anything that might function as such.

Well... Why don't you take Reese's axe to the door hinges? We can use the door for a palette. It'd be better than a rescue carry over my shoulders.

Vash The Stampide

Vash-

"On it sensei."

Ill start hacking away at the door hinges.

LadyGlutter

I look for a silver coin, and place it on the 8.

LightBringer
12th of August, 2009, 07:02
"Sounds like a reasonable idea," chuckles Anthony, as he digs out 2 silver and places one on 3 and one on 7.

Vash swings at the door hinges. The first shot doesn't seem to have an effect. The second shot however, shatters the axe handle. There is not a scratch on the door hinges, but the axe-head lies on the floor with several pieces of handle.

Von, Erin, and Anthony finish places their bets and the wheel begins to spin. Round and round it goes, where it stops no one knows.......3 is the magic number. All the other bets disappear, Erins silver, Vons 2LB, and one of Anthonys silver. On number 3 where he has the second silver, 4 more silver pieces appear. Anthony gives an "interesting", and picks up the 5 silver pieces.

Lin and Vash lift Reese up. The bandages are holding nicely. (How do you intend to get Reese out of the room? What's the plan, man? :fun:)

(My bad), Vash you are unable to pass through Lin's door either. Using Lin's example you open the that was opposite you, and go into the hall. You see just like on the other side there are eight doors on the wall you just exited, and one door at the end of the hall.

Lin, you are fairly sure it's going to be 20 -30 minutes before Reese comes to.

Erin you open the door, and it immediately begins to close, once you stop pulling it. It is impossible to hold. Anthony stops and looks at you, "Why don't we go in that door then, " he says nodding at the next door.

Lin you open Reeses' door and slide him head first thru the door nice and easy. Vash you see Reese sliding out one of the doors on the floor. Then he increases speed a good bit as his feet clear the door, but he none the worse for wear. Lin you come through the black kings door easily, and join Vash in a hall that is exactly like the other hall you came in, 8 doors on one wall, and one door at the end of the hall.

Erin, Von decides to stay in the main room and wait for the other guys. "You guys go ahead. I'll wait here for them, and let them know what's going on so far. There seems to be richs to be had, but I'm just not comfortable off the water."

You and Anthony go ahead into the room and are surprised by a different looking room finally. This room is 45 feet wide and 150 feet long. The roof is 90 feet high. You see five circular platforms of white marble spread across the room. Each large enough for a person to stand comfortably. There is a cup like depression in the front of each platform. In the common tongue written across each platform is, "Stand on Me"

At the other end of the room are five statues standing on one of five platforms. Each statue stands acroos from one of the platform, and is connected by a black line that runs along the floor. Each statue is a handsome human male of different colors. From left to right, the black statue is armed with a sling, the blue statue is armed with a self bow, the green statue is armed with a javelin, the red statue is armed with a desert bow, and the white statue is armed with a Melnibonean bone bow. Each statue has a bull's eye inlaid on it's chest.

Vash The Stampide

LadyGlutter

"Well, here goes." I climb up on the platform across from the blue statue.

LightBringer
22nd of August, 2009, 06:07
Anthony watches you, "Blue? I thought you were tougher than that." He chuckles at the obvious jab. "It looks like the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. Hmmm. Or at least thats what I hope." He walks over and steps up onto the platform in front of the white statue.

Anthony takes his bow from his back and notchs an arrow. The white staue follows his moves and notchs an arrow.

LadyGlutter
22nd of August, 2009, 06:37
I roll my eyes, "I was going with the weapon I was familiar with. And I also was..."

I just break off midsentence when I see he's just going on ahead, and pull out my own bow, too. I don't want to watch him before I go, so I notch an arrow, take the moment to concentrate on my target, and fire when I feel it.

((Shall I roll? Oops, can't find my bag, will update when I find the dice.))

LadyGlutter
22nd of August, 2009, 11:28
(Whoops, got distracted and just now remembered when I pulled out dice for tonight.

Anyway, I rolled a 06. And in case I need a dodge, a 58.)

LightBringer
24th of August, 2009, 03:35
Erin you notch and draw. As you do so, the blue statue notchs and draws. You release your shot, and the statue does the same.

Your arrow flies true, but just misses the bullseye. You hear a bell ring as the blue statues arrow slices some hair as it just whizzes past your ear. Just after, you hear another bell sound as Anthony hits the target as well. The white staues arrow misses weel to the right. You can tell from your attempt to dodge that dodging is not really possible. The platform is just wide enough to have a good firing stances, and not much else.

A sapphire dings into the cup like depression infront of your platform. You hear a simmilar ding in Anthony's cup and see a diamond. He gives you a how-about-that look.

Chris Chandler
24th of August, 2009, 12:23
He's in bad shape, but we really ought to keep moving. Let's see if this heads to the main entryway again.

I'll lift Reese up and over again, and move toward the door at the end of the hall.

Vash The Stampide

Vash-

"Ok." Ill assist with getting Reese up and open the door through to the next room.

LightBringer
25th of August, 2009, 01:37
Lin and Vash you get Reese up, and walk down to the door. Vash pushes the handle and the door swings open into the main/fountain room. You see Von sitting on the fountain edge runnning his hand through the water. He looks up and you and smiles, "Dudes, it's about time we were starting to get really worried."

LadyGlutter
25th of August, 2009, 01:42
"Yes, yes, you're very smart." I grab my sapphire and hop down. I walk around the statues, looking around the room for anything, symbols, or style of the carvings, or anything, that would give me an idea as to the origin of the artist/wizard/whatever that created this place.

"I just wish I could figure out who put this room here, or why. Anyway, ready when you are."

LightBringer
25th of August, 2009, 01:58
Anthony watches you for a moment than draws another arrow, "I have a feeling who ever put this here isn't going to reveal themselves without a lot of questions. Good thing you're here." You can feel his grin without even seeing it, as he releases. The statue releases as well, just as Anthony's arrow shatters against the bullseye. You then hear the bell ring, just as you hear the thump of the statues arrow against Anthony.

"Oowwww, that smarts!" You see the arrow fairly deep in Anthony's shoulder as he turns back recovering from the hit. You hear the heavy ding of a gem falling into the cup. Anthony looks down, "Holy crap!" you see a diamond that appears to be at least 5 times larger than the first diamond.

He smiles as he turns and steps down, and retrieves the stones, "Okay I'm ready." He shrugs and quickly grimaces.

(There is nopthing else around the room. Like the other rooms the walls and ceiling are that smoooth green stone. There are no symbols of any kind other than the words on the platforms, and the bullseyes.)

Chris Chandler
25th of August, 2009, 11:28
