"Do you seek a short and painful but exciting life of prosperity? The fearsome wizard GOLOCK is hiring HENCHMEN to fight the evil menace haunting Shan Mountain and perform other tasks as needed. Applicants must be stout-hearted adventurers who supply their own equipment. Compensation will be 20 gold pieces per month in addition to lodgings in his dreaded tower. Henchmen will receive a share of all reward prizes, and may keep all authorized loot! Expect frequent travel. Apply in person during daylight hours at the dreaded tower northwest of Ichiba. Undead or married persons not allowed!"

The Jiangu campaign has been running for almost 4 years now. We are finishing an adventure, and a couple of players have announced that they intend to bow out, making room for some new players.

You can either take over one of the existing characters, or create a new one. The existing character is a level 6 female wood elf ranger, focused on archery. A new character will join at XP level 4. I am requiring that any new character will need to be multi-classed. I know that sounds like a strange requirement, but we have all the bases covered and need backups. We particularly need a backup healer.

Currently the group has
A human barbarian
A human evoker
A human monk
A halfling cleric and
A halfling rogue

The rules for character creation are:
25 pt buy for attributes.
Starting gold for level 3 as per the DMG.
Core rules ONLY. No supplements. No exceptions.
No psionics.
Clerics can design their own patron diety. War domain favored weapons must be one handed or light and can't be exotic.

The most important thing to notice is CORE RULES ONLY. No supplements. This seems to attract the best roleplayers and keep the munchkins away.

The story has plenty of combat, but the focus is storytelling.

Players are expected to post once a day, monday through friday.

There are several house rules. They can be found in the "Campaign Info and Rules" thread.

The campaign world has an asian flavor. It is set in an empire that has recently been thrown into chaos when the capital province became haunted. The undead spirits killed almost all of the inhabitants, and the emperor is missing. Some presume that he is dead. This has created a civil war. Golock the wizard is determined to find the emperor and end the haunting. The characters are his hired henchmen.

(Golock never participates in the adventures- he sends the characters off and expects them to fend for themselves)

Check out the campaign forum, and if you are interested you can PM me or email me crueldespot@yahoo.com. Let me know the concept you want to run. If I approve it then you can create a character sheet and full background story. New characters will have a seperate thread at first before they meet up with the rest of the group. This is to get them accustomed to the rules and make sure they really intend to play.

I've sent you a PM, but I thought I'd post in here as well. I'm not so sure about multi-classing at level four, but I'd be interested in picking up your existing character if someone hasn't already beaten me to it.

Arrrgh. This sounds like something I would like. Are the replacement players needed very soon? I would jump in on this if it is a few weeks away.

I would probably go bard/cleric to be the backup healer.

I normally put new characters through a brief solo adventure before they meet the rest of the group, so any new players will need to start playing pretty soon in order to be ready when the main group sets out on their next and final adventure.

Yep, I said final adventure. We are reaching the end of the story arc for the campaign. Don't be discouraged by the fact that it is the final adventure. Based on experience, it will probably take at least 6 months real time to complete. They are now finishing up their fifth adventure, and we have been playing since 2003.

I would like to play in your campaign.

It looks like the 6th level pre-existing character has been claimed, and I have another applicant whose character sheet has been approved. A couple of others have expressed interest, but nobody has locked in the third spot. At this point the group still doesn't have a backup trap disarmer, so I will give preference to a multi-class rogue, if someone want to play one.

I do, but I may need help creating my character.
I have his personality and the physical side of him, but need help with the technical.

But, I will understand if you don't choose me.

I will be unable to join this very interesting game at this time. Good luck to your replacements. Maybe our paths will cross at a later time.
