Robert was born in a small town to a prostitute and a rich man, both of which dumped him in the gutter at first opportunity. He spent his childhood living in a gang of similar children, who all agreed never to abandon one another. At first opportunity, the group left the town for a port, so that they could make a living for themselves. Not to be left behind, Robert soon found himself to be a natural leader and soon became the head of his group. Finally happy, they managed to win a ship in a card game away from a drunken noble and at last had a way to make an honest living. That is, until a couple members of Roberts crew convinced everybody that honest living is not the way to do things. After taxes, and regulations at every port, Robert and his crew decided that piracy was a much better way of life, so pirates they became. It wasn't long before Robert became very well known as an honorable pirate (but a pirate is still a pirate) throughout much of the world.
