Description: Valeria is an expansive, geographically diverse stretch of land. There are dozens of small wooded regions scattered throughout Valeria. Three large lakes form the core element of an extensive system of waterways ranging from massive, impassible rivers to tiny creeks and streams. To the north, the terrain becomes increasingly wooded as travelers approach the Deep Forest. Winter comes much earlier in this region. To the west is the Coast of Jomren, and the scent of salt air wafts in with strong breezes from the Sea of Lost Souls. Thunderstorms here are frequent and powerful, with wind speeds capable of blowing away even the strongest thatch roof. To the east, the Deep Forest dominates the horizon once again, though the climate is more seasonable. To the southeast, the faint stench of bog air permeates everything the closer one comes to the Scragmire. To the south, the ground becomes increasingly elevated as travelers pass through the foothills of the Gremalk Mountains, an imposing range of peaks that has very few useable passes, and all of those are guarded by monsters or worse.

Very few geographical features in Valeria have commonly used names. Residents of a particular village might call the nearby wood Creegan’s Forest after the community’s founder, but the village on the other side of the wood might call it something else. And the trolls who inhabit the wood may call it by yet another name.

Although Valeria is certainly the most civilized known region on this side of the Sea of Lost Souls, it is far from safe. Giantkin tribes threaten even Tyrenos from time to time, and they frequently eradicate entire villages without warning. Orcs inhabit nearly every wood, and they have no qualms about putting human meat in their cookpots. Goblins are the most organized of the non-human residents of Valeria. They seem to be mostly confined to the foothills of the Gremalk Mountains, though occasionally a band of goblins is sighted much farther north than a scouting party would venture.
