View Full Version : Gladiator Winner's Bracket Round 4

Black Plauge
27th of October, 2005, 09:19
Well folks after this match we're going to have only one undefeated gladiator left.

That's right, and Duke Soloth has once again exercised his position as event organizer to throw a wrench into the works.

Two actually. Not only will this match have the whole arena at its disposal, but some of the more exotic animals from the menagerie are in play, specifically two shadow mastiffs.

Actually, the possibility of shadow mastiffs showing up has been there from the begining. Its right in the original rules.

It is? Well, even so, the vendors are passing out ear plugs to the spectators. They won't want to hear this match once the mastiffs begin baying, but the competitors won't have that luxury.

No, they'll have to find some other way to deal with the shadow mastiffs. I fully expect the first few rounds of this match to be spent on that, rather than on the gladiators fighting each other. Of course, if a gladiator can prevent the shadow mastiffs from effecting him while it does effect his opponent, he will gain a distinct advantage.

So, lets get started, shall we?

Burning Sand, Wang Xiao Yun, introduce yourselves to the crowd.

Burning Sand glares menacingly at the tiger right beside him, eyeing the keepers to be sure they do their job and keep the beast in line until the match starts. He stalks away from the animal, and undergoes his change once more...into the snarling hunting beast that the audience knows so well.

Move to E12 (assuming the tiger is restrained and can't take an Attack of Opportunity). Otherwise, WITHDRAW to E12.

Standard action, if I have one, to manifest Bite of the Wolf.

Swift action to manifest Claws of the Beast (7 points).

Equipment list:
Chain Shirt
Large Adamantine Glaive
Large Masterwork Mighty [+6] Composite Longbow w/ 20 arrows.
20 more Large Arrows.

I was sure I posted this yesterday. My apologies. Somehow, it didn't go through.

Well, Burning Sand has started with his by now very traditional start, and Wang is out to impress the crowd once again with his riding ability.

Yes, but the first Shadow Mastiff is making itself known right away. He's baying up a storm in that slightly shaded corner of his and its not good for Wang. Both he and his Brown Bear have succumbed to its effects and the crowd doesn't like that.

The other Shadow Mastiff, however, has decided to go with a far more mundane, and painful, method of dealing with Burning Sand and is chomping down.

Burning Sand, you have 24 hours to post your round 2 action.

Annoyed that the beast's chain was longer than he had anticipated, Burning Sand glares down at the shadow mastiff. Wang is panicked and so must flee the baying Shadow Mastiff as quickly as possible. He does so by spurring his mount and having it take a double move along the path with the least obstruction away from the Shadow Mastiff.
