Yes folks out of sheer insanity and that ever so persistant need to inflict pain on myself and others, and the urge to break in this thread... I am starting a game.
Things you should know:
I am looking for experienced players and/or DM's, why you ask? Because my goal in this campaign is to give the seasoned veterans of gaming a chance to experience it a new again (in other words, when I screw up, I have something to blame it on). So with that said Rules Lawyers (and Junior Versions), Metagamers, and so forth be warned... you might not enjoy this campaign. I will attempt to put the thrill of uncertenty, and fear back into your jaded minds. It will be in a homebrew world, based upon Forgotten Realms (so basically everything out of the FRCS goes, but geography will be different). Characters will start at approximatly 8th Level, and Humanoids are preffered. The setting is a Large city where you and your fellow adventurers (you have known each other you whole career) are quite the lot of local celebrities, and your reputation is well known... so obviously a Minotaur might not fit in, but I am open to ideas but any Monster that would be frowned upon will not be accepted (yes stereotypes exist).
Beyond that, Stats are whatever you see fit for the Character, starting Gold is Standard 8th Level, although I may handle powerful items in a different fashion, We'll see about this once I get your sheets, but for now standard and no more than 1/4th on a single item. I need good personalities, and any suggested Backgrounds are great, As I will fill in the blanks for you all (just so you know why you all are quite famous). Any other questions, contact me. Play what you want to play, and be ready to have your sense of security in gaming be flipped upside down. If the campaign is successful it will run indeffinatly, and you will exist in this world, not merely take a quest and be done with it.

EDIT : actually as two of my games are rather slow, i might well join in. Any chance we could use my familiar system? *looks hopefull* failing that i'll just choose one of those better familiar feats :)

I'll play! I've been wanting to play a paladin, not sure what race. If Dragon Mag counts as a "wotc source", then maybe one of the saurials from the latest issue would be good.

Send me your concepts / sheets, I will follow by posting some background on the area. But for now give me an idea of what you want to play. Posting will be on my part at least every other day (although knowing me, 2 times a day may happen if the game allows it), but posting isn't a major issue in that if you are limited I will simply ask you to post broader actions and more of them when you can post.... that way we know what you're doing and waiting doesn't become an issue. And really the game will go at the pace you all are comfortable with...with that said I am going to attempt to move game play along fairly quickly.
BRR, Gnarsh, and Dragonknight... send me your ideas or IM me... my main concerns like I said before are Good Aligned and a race that won't "Freak people out"
I am not against having a large party (in reality this same campaign will be run with 5 or 6 characters in my F2F group)... and I really want the concern to be with a character in a world, not a PC made for a campaign... if all goes well, this will continue indefinatly.

As you dont care about the character stats i'll roll them using a strange method revealed to me in a dream (basically rolling them in order using varying methoids and then being able to exchange one)
I think i'll have this guy as abit of a coward, who likes the rest of his group but still would prefer them to be injured other himself

Phelan looks very like a normal hedgehog from a distance, however as you approach his true nature becomes clear. He is made from a dark brown smooth rock with streaks of grey running through it, his eyes are like very small rubies that glow
Phelan can speak Terran in a strange deep voice that does not seem fitting to his small size
Ok just a few questions now
1) could i use spells from Relics and Rituals (not a Wotc source, its a sword and sorcery one). I just wnat to sue a few of its more interesting spells (i'll post them if you dont have the book)
2)could i use my familiar rules? i would happily give a feat so that i could have something worthwhile with me :)
3)Are you trusting us to roll out hp?
the rest will be finished later, i'l lsort out my equipment and the like then

Few answers...
HP's are normally full at 1st and half all other levels (adding any Con mod of course)..
I encourage Unique spells and Relics and Rituals is fine, send me the info for the spells, as I don't have the book yet, please.
You can have a familiar based on your rules BRR, just take Improved Familiar as a feat, and send me an email with what you want for one.
As far as Items, if they are reasonably close to the 6,000gp limit ask me (In the instance of an enchanted weapon or such)... I will allow 1 item to be over the limit within reason.
Other than that, everything is coming along great, and I think we have our group... still waiting on the sheets but assuming everyone is still in.

(the rules are on these boards in my forum or the old ones, they are both the same version). i'll pay the 650gp for an extra power, i'll have my skills done shortly so you can ,make the spellcraft check :). I'm not preselcting a type or nay power so its just the base ritual cost and the extra 650

for my special mount, can I have a deinonychus? It'd probably count as a mount ungettable (is that a word?) until level 6.

Gnarsh: The Deinonychus is ok, but your character must have 9 Ranks in Ride and Handle Animal as a PreReq... just so I can justify how you taimed it and don't fall off :)

Dragonknight, I strongly doubt that your two characters are going to be anything like each other... and in that case there is always room for two unique characters with Bows.

mind if i change the feat that my familiar has? he has weapon finese but 10 dex so its a little useless
i've updated my rules about feats and skills for familiars
but as i updated after you had okayed them i wont use them :) otherwise i would just be able to keep tweaking them ot make my character captain beefalot
