Heeey, I'm looking for a person willing to GM a game of Shadowrun. I've got some people who wanna play. And I wanna play. It's a mutual kind of thing.

So step right up! Hurry, hurry, take part in this once-in-a-month opportunity to GM a game of shadowrun!

RelentlessNight

Not willing to GM, but more n happy to play too :P

Thanos
21st of February, 2005, 14:57
Yeah, would be happy to play, but STing that game online would be beyond me at this point.

Shadowurn can be a verrry complicated game to run, as there are tables and modifiers for EVERYTHING.

Now that the lot of you have scared off any potential f'ing GM...

You sod. Got my hopes up thinking we might have a sodding Shadowrun game on these boards.

How many SR games have died here so far?

Surely there's a forum somewhere that has working SR games on it?

stealthbanana
22nd of February, 2005, 04:08
I know! I dare not GM another shadowrun game - I'm terrible at it. We need a good GM...

www.dumpshock.com has working games. Maybe I'll head over there later.

Thanos

If I wasn't doing an Exalted game I would run an SR game, IF and only IF we get a solid die roller added onto the Forum.

Ahem, Thanos! Prior claim on you running an Amber game if you ever has the time, remember? ;)

RelentlessNight
22nd of February, 2005, 08:24
Meh, I run an irl game of Shadowrun, but I do not have a complete grip on the rules even after doing it for 2 years. I think it would be even more difficult PbP as I am not a literary talent. What are' the differences between running TT and being a GM on here?

Thanos
23rd of February, 2005, 05:00
Yes Chalice dear....there is a that as well.....but I would still want an in house die roller that couldn't be edited to be able to play our glorious dice using games. Amber doesn't have that problem, even if it is my favorite system, and it is only one of the things that makes it awesome.

TocRat05

Getting bored with your current Exalted game already thanos?

stealthbanana

HUSH!

Shadowrun!

Not Exalted.

Um.... *peeks into the room* Perhaps I could GM this rag-tag group of misfits... um... my GMing experiance is Nil really, i'm starting up a Vampire- Elder game... slowly getting players to submit their characters, and Shadowrun is by far my most favorite RPG... I know the rules quite well... dice rollers, pah, I do all the dice rolling for the games myself. (My own prefrance) Um... i'd have to come up with a SL and crap but I've turned up the throttle for desire to GM/ST up most of the way cuz I do enjoy doing it... *whistles innocently* But be warned, I can be known as an Evil GM *rubs hands together meschiviously*

Thanos
23rd of February, 2005, 10:12
Heck no TocRat, but I am only playing in 2 games and running a 3rd. Its not all that difficult right now. A good game of SR would rock, I haven't played since my 4th year in college and that was awesome...then again the ST was providing the storyline and the players were providing the rules.

Diesel
23rd of February, 2005, 11:38
I'd be extremely interested in playing Shadowrun. I've been GMing for...too many years, but never get to play because I'm apparently the only one who can read...I digress. Anyhow, count me in if one goes down.

RelentlessNight
23rd of February, 2005, 16:13
If you're interested Walker, I'll play. The only books I DONT have for SR 3rd are Rigger 3 Revised (have Rigger3), sprawl survival guide, Dragons of the Sixth World and State of the Art:2064.

Thanos
23rd of February, 2005, 16:49
Ew, I have the 3rd main book, but almost everything second and the original Street Sam. None of the magic stuff though, I do not often play them...in fact out of 5 games I have played only 1 magic kind of guy and his most potent spell was Sanitize ;-) Trog the Healer Troll!

Ivankor
23rd of February, 2005, 17:44
Does'nt seem as if anyone is willing to GM. But if someone steps forward then I'd be interested in joining.

Perhaps I could GM this rag-tag group of misfits...

Or are they...

WalkerUrza
24th of February, 2005, 08:04
I'd be willing to have... upto... five people in a game. Stealth has his position already... he's the creator of this thread, RelentlessNight is the second... Thanos next, Actroll, Then it'd be Diesel... that's five unless I don't know how many finger's i've.. OH GOD!! where did that come from?! I Guess your in Ivan I seem to have six fingers.

I'd like confermation for getting a forum.

Diesel

Would you mind posting what's allowed and what's not?

Also, take a looksee at http://matrix.dumpshock.com/raygun - I like how that's done, if you want to stray from canon. If not, I'll enjoy my universal magazines. ;)

WalkerUrza
24th of February, 2005, 08:55
Using SR3, Companion, MtS, Cannon, MM... Won't be doing much rigger stuff if I can avoid it I lost my Rigger book...

Thanos
24th of February, 2005, 09:16
Well just found out I have 2 Second editions instead of a 2nd and a 3rd, I will purchase a 3rd today. If I can find a Companion I will, but the other stuff I am not sure of.

Mark me down for non-tank street sam or alternately a freelance security specialist depending on how nasty a game is going to be played.

WalkerUrza
24th of February, 2005, 09:50
And for what's allowed and what's not... um... Don't use NSRCG... I hate that program with a passion. Make the sheets, send them to my email, and I will go over each character with a fine toothed comb... So, pulling one over on me is quite difficult when I always throughly go through each character.... and lets see...

I'd like a well rounded group, No Deckers, No Riggers as PC's I'll have all that shit dealt with behind the scenes or as I care to deal with...

No starting out with bonded foci, no starting out iniatiate grade anything.

Max avail 8 as per the norm, but I am not stringent on that, there are some items that should be allowed... If you have a question, just toss it my way and i'll give you a yay or nay to the item.

And before anyone asks... No Dikote

Thanos
24th of February, 2005, 10:58
Smart man, smart man with no Dikote ;-)

Diesel
24th of February, 2005, 11:59
Can I Dikote my ally spirit, at least? ;)

WalkerUrza
24th of February, 2005, 12:25
Desiel as long as your a cyber mage with 5.01 essence worth of cyberware, no gesa, and never gain any initations, then yes you can have your Ally Spirit Dikoted.

stealthbanana
24th of February, 2005, 12:44
Actually, Urza, I had some players in mind already when I posted this thread. Ask Diesel for details. There were only two or three, but they had priority.

Diesel, and two other people I think. Like I said, talk to Diesel.

Thanos
24th of February, 2005, 13:24
I was wondering, barring that I still get to play which would REALLY SUCK if I didn't since I just dropped about $100 (for 3rd MM and the Companion), that we could put together a team kinda together. You know what I mean, not everybody ending up as Mages, Wired3-sams, or Troll-tanks ect.

Alternately, I would love to run in a game along a concept such as a group of people that got together to make a shadow-security group. The kind of people that get hired by corps to provide high level, no rules, anti-runner ops etc. They could be a 'legal' semi-law enforcement agency and thus operate above the streets. This would obviously have both benefits and consiquences...one would be cash, have a weapon, cyber, or Bio of a restricted nature would mean having a permit for it and authorities of one kind or another knowing about it. However, Lone Star, UCAS, and others can't give you more than a little sh!t for having it ;-)

WalkerUrza
24th of February, 2005, 14:42
We'll see how things go Thanos, depending on if SB's people come through or not I've got some ideas that may work. I'll talk with Diesel.

RelentlessNight
24th of February, 2005, 15:49
Do you have access to the Cannon Companion and its' various rules? What character creation system? (Standard priority or building points; What number of points (I like 135 myself)) Merits and Flaws? Damm on no Dikote ;).

No Deckers and no riggers. sigh :(.

BTW, if you're a full blown mage and have bought up spell points, you can use them to bond focii already purchased at chargen. Phys Ads' cant buy spell points (Magician adepts may be an exception) and therefore can't start with bonded focii. Of course you're the boss :).

I might play a theif type phys-ad or a straight combat head. I'll make up my mind once I hear more on how chargen will work. :).

Diesel

WalkerUrza: PM Sent

RelentlessNight: 135? Wow, that's a bit much, but I can see the need if things like Renraku Arcology are flying around...

All: Anyway, as for my preference of gametype, I would like either the standard Shadowrunner group - a bunch of criminals pulled together from various ranks, as opposed to a superteam specifically founded and organized so every skill and scenario are covered. Working around imperfections is fun, so long as the flaw isn't debilitating, exploited by the GM without alternative, or both.

The security thing sounds fun, but more for a one-shot go then any continuing campaign, though this is a PbP game, a one-shot may take a while anyway.

---

I'm open to most character archetypes, however I would prefer to NOT play the street samurai or weapon specialist. Years of GMing with the same bunch of people have made me wise to the maximum amount of combat prowess and the best benifit:essence ratios available, so I'd prefer to do something more magical or more street. I have a shaman and a...guy, for lack of better description halfway done, but I can cook something else up based on the needs and will of the group and of the GM.

stealthbanana
25th of February, 2005, 02:21
I want to play some sort of cyber-light security specialist. Barely any combat skills, but he can hack, jack, and reprogram any security system in the Sixth World.

I imagine he'd have worked for one of the major gangs, or perhaps a more organized cryme syndicate.

EDIT: And for $100 Thanos, I think you're in. Haha. Fuck my people. Person. I don't know what Diesel has in mind. Or Urza for that matter.

Diesel

Oh, and I'll be in Death Valley from today until ~1700:21022005, so...laters.

Edit: Wow, someone is a week off. 28022005, but it's kind of moot point now, huh?

WalkerUrza
25th of February, 2005, 07:40
Do you have access to the Cannon Companion and its' various rules?

Yes.

What character creation system? (Standard priority or building points; What number of points (I like 135 myself)) Merits and Flaws? Damm on no Dikote ;).

123 points Merits/Flaws 7pts for/ea.. is flexable. I've seen min/maxing and I don't particularly care for it. So if I catch it, i'll tone it down.

No Deckers and no riggers. sigh :(.

I love Riggers, and Deckers, but i'd rather not deal with it for my frist time running a SR game on PbP.

BTW, if you're a full blown mage and have bought up spell points, you can use them to bond focii already purchased at chargen. Phys Ads' cant buy spell points (Magician adepts may be an exception) and therefore can't start with bonded focii. Of course you're the boss :).

I know, but I don't want it in the game. It's fine if you spend money to buy more spell points, I just don't want bonded Foci to start out.

I might play a theif type phys-ad or a straight combat head. I'll make up my mind once I hear more on how chargen will work. :).

Cool Beans.

Thanos
25th of February, 2005, 08:37
Do we have to use the Point/Merit System or can we just go with the straight priority system out of the main book? Why you ask, mostly because I don't want to have to read another rule book as I am having enough of a time with the main book and MM. Besides the priority system, IMHO, is easier to start with and dole out.

Please forgive the small amount of cheese in the character I am making. Not maxing it out, but keeping to a concept I have wanted to try for a while. Should we email you, PM's seem to short.

I was just holding out for Diesel, as he requested.

EDIT. Less mean.

WalkerUrza

Thanos, Point system is the system *I* know and like, I don't care for the Priority system.

OK, I will read up on it then and see what I can do. Concept doesn't change of course as PM'd.

I'm back, and sorry for the poor dating, looks like I can read maps but not calendars...

Anyhow, I'd be interested in playing a shaman, still looking into exactly what type. I'm tired and felonius, so I'll probably come up with the actual guy sometime tomorrow evening. Count me in at least.

I've decided on a stealthy type mofo.

Perhaps a gumshoe or a private security agent. I've yet to decide fully. I'll pump out a full concept and character sheet within the week.

Damn, am I sorry I missed this post earlier. I want in. Point blank, I want in. I've played/ran the damn game for over three years, and wouldn't mind stepping up as head honcho if it becomes too difficult for Urza there. Or as his "aide". To be clear, I wanna piece of your pie, hombre, and I'll take it any way you can cut it. So...here's yer cakeknife.
