Rebis, Heldrik and Asmundson

[Wired*Nun]

Arriving back on the Isle of Man, Victorian England, Asmundson smiles broadly and inhales the fresh breeze. "Always good to be home. Let's catch the omnibus up to the cavern, since that's where you are set on going. I can have them send some supplies up with us in case we take a while." A short time later, they are riding the omnibus, with duffels of food and campaign supplies with them courtesy of the Order. At the top of the road, they stop to chat a moment with the guards at the shack, who have already been notified by telegraph.

Preparation of his mystical catalogue is just about finished when the clop of draft horses heralds the arrival of a vehicle on the road. Peeking over a rock, Rebis can see the two travelers he knows, as well as a driver and the two guards, having a conversation at the tunnel entrance.

Aha, fortunate indeed.

Rebis steps out from behind the outcrop and waves to the group at the entrance, calling out cheerily in accented English,

"Well met old chaps!"

"Come meet some friends of mine Drax, I think they'll like you - and they might have treats..."

A happy growl comes over the link and moments later Drax has emerged from the burrow and taken to the air, sweeping back round towards Rebis

Heldrik looks up and over his shoulder at about the same time that Rebis rounds the outcropping. He quickly motions to the guards that the new visitor is not a threat and exits the bus to go greet him.

Also in accented English, “Well met Lord Rebis. You have returned, did Random take the news well, tell me of things in Amber,” and with a slight hardening of his eyes, “and where might Lady Gray be?”

Rebis looks at Heldrik in confusion and asks him to repeat his question in Thari.:fun:

Very shortly Heldrik does repeat his question in Thari.

Rebis walks swiftly down the slope and meets Heldrik a short distance from the carriage, his expression shifting from puzzlement to one of rueful amusement as Heldrik repeats his question,

"Alas I can tell you little of events in Amber as I am still yet to visit that fair realm. Shortly after Princess Agraynel and I left your company we were...relocated...to Chaos by Lord Mandor of House Sawall. Whilst we were enjoying his hospitality the Princess received a Trump call from a man named Arrotel, who joined us briefly before both she and he departed via Trump to Prince Benedict. I regret that I am thus uncertain as to their present location, Arrotel had mentioned a hostile encounter with a nightmare at a place called 'Flagstaff' but as he seemed to have contacted Agraynel to escape from there I would doubt that is where they went..."

Rebis is interrupted as a black shape swoops down and proudly deposits a lifeless furry bundle at Heldrik's feet before looking up at him expectantly

Rebis smiles and scratches the little black dragon's head between his ears,

"Please excuse me. I do not believe you have had the pleasure of meeting my good friend, Drax, whose hunting skills are beyond dispute."

In a lower tone he adds,

"I believe he may be expecting a small treat, if you have such..."

[Wired*Nun]

Asmundson steps back and lets the two men speak, engaging the guards in conversation. This turns out to be wise as he is able to stop them from immediately blasting Drax with their shotguns when he appears. He goes on to explain that Drax is apparently Rebis' familiar, and not to worry. These gentlemen are sufficiently used to the extraordinary that they settle down to simply studying Drax with curious eyes.

Heldrik reaches into a regular pouch on his belt and pulls out 2 sticks of his favorite trail jerky and tosses them high into the air in two different directions while looking at the little dragon. Best to befriend is now, as when it is older it will be much like the cranky beasts back home.

"This Lord Mandor, a being that you trust?" This while he is shuffling out Arrotel's Trump, which it just so happens is on the bottom of his deck and easily pulled.

Drax gives an excited roar and launches himself into the air, catching the first piece in his jaws on the way up, rolling in the air and diving to snatch the second in his claws before landing and munching happily, little snorts of flame flickering from his nostrils.

All that hunting practice seems to have paid off...

"I think you've made a good impression there", Rebis comments, watching Drax devour his prize.

"I know him mostly by reputation, rather than personally. He is renowned as a master of intrigue, a power in the shadows if you will but I would trust him in certain regards...for example to act in what he considers the best interests of the Realm of Chaos. I would also consider him a man of his word."

And perhaps a friend...

[Thanos]

Watching Drax and his acrobatics brings a slight grin to Helrick's face.

"Good. Arrotel has been a busy man then if he encountered Nightmare and was not bested by the primordial. Even a second rate one would be a nasty encounter. I think that we should catch up to him and see if the Lady is with him. If so, then all is well. If not then he has the only trump of which I know depicting the Lady. That is if you do not object Lord Rebis?"

Heldrik offers the card for a shared contact.

Rebis reaches forward and places his fingers lightly upon the card,

"I would be glad to assist, I too would like to know that Princess Agraynel is well. I would also like to hear more of this encounter that Lord Arrotel mentioned..."

He joins Heldrik in concentrating upon the image, mentally readying himself for any untoward occurences. As he does so Drax finishes the last of the jerky and leaps lightly onto his shoulder.

Arrotel receives the call standing in a nondescript wood-paneled corridor. [Please reply in the other thread, and/or copy the whole post to this one in duplicate]

"Never mind, more friends come to join the party." Arrotel tells Alamor, and resumes heading for the fountain. Through the link-

"I'm in a bit of a rush to help defend the Keep from an attack by chaos, but the fate of this part of the universe can wait. What can I do for you today?""We had hoped to confirm that Princess Agraynel was safe - but if you need assistance I would be happy to offer it..."

Rebis glances at Heldrik, eyebrow raised questioningly
