I'm not sure. Swapping the players for a character never seems to work very well.

It would be wise to resolve the system issue before getting anybody new on board, sadly I've still not found anything suitable so we're stuck with BESM for now.

I honestly don't think you're going to be able to find a good system, unless somewhere out there someone has made one specifically for this type of game. But I could be wrong.

I'd be inclinded to just end the pain if I can't find another system.

At the moment it seems to be a toss up between doing something with d20 (monsters as growth templates would work pretty well as hybrid class/races) or GURPS 4. I may nip out this afternoon and try and hunt it down, or have a chat to the guys in the gaming store about options. Although I'm not sure I'd be entirely comfortable about chatting to strangers about wanting to run a monster trainer rpg...

Guys, I'm seriously out of ideas for how to deal with the guards. Beyond either Plan A (Physical attack) or the Default Plan (Lesbians making out) that is.

GURPS 4 is looking fairly promising for a new system so far.

Well, given that there is a quick play version of the rules on the site that should give a basic understanding of mechanics I think it should work out. Not actually got through all the material yet though.

It's exam season so my time available to spend reading through RPG rule books has decreased rather significantly.

On the other hand, I've got through the first book and I'm on to the second without spotting anything that would appear to be a hitch in conversion.

Were there windows on the archive building?

Nope. Windows means natural light which tends to be destructive. Plus, it makes things very insecure

Although I'd be suprised if it'd impact the speed of the game, I'm going to be in Devon for next week.

When I get back I should have some free time (as I'll be at home rather than uni) and we can see what is to be done about this game's apparant death.

Casting a brief glance over the laptop, Will shrugs,
"It doesn't look like anybody is in a hurry to email back though."

Yeah, that was a longshot.

To save time, this is my plan.

We find out basic info about a local troublesome gang.
We find a way to get over/through/around/under the wall/gate.
We ignore the main museum all together.
We rush the storeroom and burst in, using our ‘mons to subdue the guards. (I’m confident we can do this quickly enough with monsters)
The guards are dragged to the ‘fresher.
Someone stays behind in the room with all the monitors as a watch, also leaving graffiti in that room which would indicate the previously looked up gang was there.
The other people split up and enter the storerooms - we know the lot numbers so as long as they’re in order we should be able to find them quickly.
We grab them and get out of there as fast as we can.

Believe it or not I am still pouring over my GURPS books and planning. Sadly, my living games come first and I'm currently in the bad place (tm) of workload. Turns out final years are a real bitch.

Fine then, I'll just keep writing my lesbian fiction.

If you want to go ahead and learn the GURPS rules, find me some good GURPS players and sort out the system issues then it'd speed the process.
