View Full Version : Witchfire Players Needed

Our illustrious board leader is understandably too busy and at least one other player has gone AWOL.
So, I'm sending out the call for two, possibly three, replacement players. Here's the deal:
36 point buy, level 1 character, regular starting gold + 50g
Check out the IronKingdoms (http://ironkingdoms.com) campaign setting - note the custom pantheon, firearms and steam powered technology. Keep this setting in mind when you work up your background. You don't need anything fancy for a background, but give me an idea of your character's personality traits.
This is the second time I've gone for replacements and I don't want to waste anymore time on bringing new characters in with some "logical" transition. The old characters will be magically transformed into the new characters via the marvels of Edit. Thus your characters will begin the game seated at the dinner table in the Church of Morrow's rectory having volunteered to help Father Dumas investigate a series of grave robberies.
We have a wizard in the party and (if I hear from Magfrump in the next couple of days) a cleric of Morrow - the good human Deity of the Ironkingdoms.
Please, please, please do not offer up a character unless you can commit to posting regularly. Once a day is preferred, but at least every other day is tolerable.

Crito ... I'll be in if you let me ... am always happy to get my paws into another game when possible ...
Just give me some time to get a character up and all that ... Am thinking either rogue, monk, or druid. Please let me know which of these classes, if any, are unsuitable for your version of the IK realm.
Just warning you that i have the first two WitchFire books, but i promise not to meta-game, and if I do, be it inadvertantly or on purpose, please feel free to smite me.

Kahluah, any of those classes could be suitable. Rogue is easy.
Druid is probably ok. I remember seeing something about them being a bit on the darker side in the IronKingdoms, in terms of background and societal role, but they haven't released the sourcebook yet, so I can't really give you any detail.
Monks are a rarity. Again, there will eventually be some details about different orders of Monks within the churches, but I don't have them yet. If you want to play one, keep in mind that the ones who go out in the world will be more Templar-like, I guess you'd say. "Muscle", bodyguards, etc. for the Church.
About your having the books - are you sure you would want to play, then? I'd be afraid that knowing too much would spoil your fun. But if you think you'd still like it, it's ok with me. I'd just ask that you be careful and check with me often so that we don't spoil things for the others.

I'd like to join in.
Human Ranger probably.

I'd like to play too. I good at being a utility player, so if there's a spot to fill I can do it. If you give me direction, I should be able to get you a character pretty quick. I'm heading out of town form Wednesday night to Saturday night, but I might be able to make it to a computer and after that little excursion I should be able to post at least once daily.

Even though I do have the books, i'd still want to play, but there are two others here that want to play it too, and they'd prolly get more enjoyment out of it than i would ... so i'll drop for now ... ;)

Gorin, Human Ranger sounds good.
Dust, as far as direction goes, check out the link to the Ironkingdoms site to get a feel for the setting and then check out the IC thread in the game below to see where your character will fit in (one of the original members of Gunner's wagon guard will be "transformed" into your character).
For both, please work up a level one character according to the guidelines and either mail it to me or post it here. Please include a little "personality profile" for your character and whatever background you want (can be as simple as just your character's home town).
Warning - this is not a dungeon crawl or hack n' slash game, be prepared for the importance of investigation and roleplaying, although there will be opportunities to test out your combat skills. :)

Game-wise , it would be very convenient , having one of the "newbies" (Hear mee , hardly started myself....;) ) know Draconic.
Else a large part of Ninri's acions already taken , wouldn't make sense , story-wise.

Yup, I should have mentioned that. Thanks, Mega.
We can work out the details of that once we have people in place, but one of the "newbies" will need to have Draconic to take the role of Ninri's translator.

I can take Draconic. I figured I'd probably play a rogue, since that's the only fundamental area that the party is missing. I should be able to get the character to you by the end of today. I'll PM it to you.

I've emailed the character over to you via the link on these pages.
Let me know if I've stuffed something up or something doesn't make sense.

The character couldn't fit through PM, so I e-mailed it to you through this site.
I might be unavailable for a few days (as I mentioned earlier), but won't be gone for long and should consistantly be around after.

I've just caught up on the story and wanted to ask about how you are doing the languages. Sort of looks like German for draconic?
Oh, Mega, if you speak Auran my character can speak that also... it also has the draconic alphabet so we could work out something there.... though my character is going to be.... errr.... difficult?
More to fit my character concept, didn't see your post till after I'd sent him in.
:)
Just waiting for Crito to give the go ahead for my character but am ready.

You're kidding, aren't ya? It's prolly a capital offense to mix up Dutch and German on this board :)

Oh well, not blessed with the knowledge of a second language so I'll have to just provide the translated bit.

Better not guess at the language you were using for Auran then.

Just to make sure Gorin see's this. I need your corrected ability stats. Hope you got my e-mail. If not I can post what corrections are needed here. Once I get those stats, we can get started.
Thanks.
