Well we'll need one of these at some point
Now seems a good time to get it made
Feel free to jabber here about the game, your RL probs, whatever
just keep the game thread (when it arrives) free of any long OOC comments :)
BigRedRod

Sponkle is that the first version of the sheet you posted?
You still have common listed as a language on it
Hmm looks like the other two both have Kinth as theor common language so you're gonna need that, (unless you want to have a game with no common language, which happened in my last one :) it was quite funny the monk could speak to only one of the other players i think.)
I'll go through the sheets in more detail before the game starts
Just waiting for 2 backgrounds and Beids character sheet
Beid and Josh assure me they will be with me shortly :)
SuperJosh
23rd of July, 2002, 03:54
OK BRR, I just emailed you my character's background. Let me know if there is maything else I need to do.
BigRedRod
23rd of July, 2002, 04:38
Hmmm
I don't seem to have recived the email
you sent it to BigRedRodThePirate@hotmail.com right?
SuperJosh
23rd of July, 2002, 05:00
Yep, I will try again.
BigRedRod
23rd of July, 2002, 05:13
and then both arrived at once :)
Thanks for the re-send anyways :)
I think trillian had crashed or something, so when i actually decided to check my mail rather than rely on it's auto-alert thingy i found 2 copies :D
Those changes are fine
I'm happy for you to speak tribal and the lnaguage translation thingy works both ways so you have a reasonable chance of understanding jabbbering in Raik
nice plot :)
SuperJosh
23rd of July, 2002, 05:31
Glad they both got there. I was worried that my email might have crashed or something. I will make those changes now. Glad you liked the background.:)
BigRedRod
23rd of July, 2002, 05:35
Glad you liked the background
hmm you don't seem to have developed the "When the DM is happy my character is going to be injured" instinct ... yet
I'm not happy with how you spell instinct
that kinda kills the drama :)
BigRedRod
23rd of July, 2002, 06:40
next week i'm holiday
or more next monday i set off :)
so from monday the 29th to august 6th i'll be out of the country and any posting is unlikely :nervous:
just letting you know so i don't suddenly dissapear, and you think i've abandoned the game
Yeah I know this is bad timing, pausing the game before it gets into full swing :P
but I expected the game to get going alot before this
Still you should be able to get some good gaming done and i'm only away for a week :dead:
SuperJosh
23rd of July, 2002, 10:37

Well if you manage to ocnvince yourself that then all the better :)
Now we're just waiting for beid
BigRedRod
23rd of July, 2002, 21:00
Ok i've looked over your sheets (with help from TFF) :)
I've posted any problems on the end of your sheets
SuperJosh
24th of July, 2002, 12:09
Cool, any word on when we can expect Beid's character sheet, so that we can start?
BigRedRod
24th of July, 2002, 20:58
he claims soon
i'll whine at him next time i see him online
but i want to get started as soon as possible
so Beid hurry the hell up
SuperJosh
25th of July, 2002, 05:15
As long as you know what is going on. I am just antsey to play, and was in a bitchy mood yesterday, and it would be nice to get underway before your vacation.
BigRedRod
25th of July, 2002, 06:27
Well I claim to know whats going on
Beid just needs poking with a stick
a bloody big stick
and yeah i want to get the game started before i'm on holiday
Beidamon
25th of July, 2002, 08:02
Sorry, got a new HD when i got my new computer and thats hindering the process a little. I should have things sorted out soon though and have my charecter all finished up.
BigRedRod
25th of July, 2002, 09:11
well as long as there was an actual reason :)
Just get it done soon as possible so we can get this show on the road
BigRedRod
28th of July, 2002, 21:01
Damn
Well looks like we will start when i get back
Which i think is the 6th
Beid you had better have your sheet posted, and fully correct and your background waiting in my inbox when i get back
Sorry for the very slow start guys :P

Its simple, Durn is so smart he speaks all language and i didn't feel the need to post them all :)

BigRedRod
6th of August, 2002, 22:24
*bangs head on desk*
it's a start but we are still missibng your languages
Post the damn things
the game can't start if you don't know if you can talk to one another
get to it beid
oh yeah i'm back :) (in case you hadn't noticed)
SponkleofInfini
7th of August, 2002, 00:41
I have my languages finsihed i think. As for Beid don't expect anything soon he and everyone else in the epic campaign "A World Aflame" is glued to their monitors waiting to see what happens.........damn that is a fine campaign.
BigRedRod
7th of August, 2002, 02:52
hehe
I bugged beid so i now have his background (not actually emailed) and he assures me he will post his languages tomorrow
well i know enough
I'm starting :)

BigRedRod

map explanation
open the link in a new window
drop all that crazy text into it
then press load
toggle the map to sqaures and it should show up
it is better than me drawing maps as its faster and more usable :)
Beidamon
8th of August, 2002, 22:13
I would just like to point out the irony that after all that time BRR spent waiting for me to finish up my spell list that the first action BRR takes is to cause me to lose my spellbook lol :)
BigRedRod
9th of August, 2002, 00:27
yep
but thats the weird way of the DM
You're not meant to understand :)
Beidamon
9th of August, 2002, 00:41
In other words you messed up and are trying to distract us from the fact :)
Dont worry, its alright, DM's very rarely seem to make sence, especially when they say 'No, you charecter cant have that' lol
SponkleofInfini
9th of August, 2002, 00:49
I just hope I get my spellbook back, although the outlook is bad. I don't really want to go and buy another book then pay more money to re-write spells into the new book.
Beidamon
9th of August, 2002, 00:53
Ive also deftly avoided posting my history in written words, I can in reality be anything I want from a former prince to a demigod in disguise, the power, the power!
Or I could be the average dwarf with above average intellegence....
Ya, thats it.... till I die then come back as a half celestial.... :)
BigRedRod
9th of August, 2002, 17:29
In other words you messed up and are trying to distract us from the fact
nope
as i said it's the weird way of the DM
and you will be getting your background written up, although i have your rough draft from my msn logs
so you are fixed to the one story
Beidamon
9th of August, 2002, 17:31
Luckly I have never been on MSN so i know them for the forgeries the are, ha!
BigRedRod
9th of August, 2002, 20:06
whatever
Trillian keeps logs of all out conversation
so hahaha
:)
but you really do need to get that written up, as you will be posting it at some point
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 00:23
Superjosh you need to update your character sheet, none of those luxeries (like soap) for you anymore :)
Beid you still have old bits on your sheet that shouldnt be there too
Sponkle you don't know those spells anymore :P they were in your old "lost" spellbook
Dust, you have managed to find some leather armour somehow :) the guards all wore chain
I could be wrong on some of these though, so if you feel i'm going back on something or just been crazy let me know :)
just a general note, you were stripped down to clothing, they removed everything else (except familiars, Beid's is a rock and I doubt the guards will have wanted to touch Sponkle's in case something happened :) )
Dust
19th of August, 2002, 04:56
How much gold did we get from the rebels?
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 05:46
you each have
2gp
10sp
10cp
SponkleofInfini
19th of August, 2002, 13:07
So how are you going to handle spells known then when we eventually get our books back? Will we be able to get the appropriate amount known or is going to be dramtically reduced and we have to spend money to write in the old spells.
As for the spells known I have kept them there so I know what I want when I evntually get another spell book.
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 17:38
ah I didn't realise there was a reason behind it :)
I thought you had missed a section when you were removing your equipment
It makes sense so i won't push you to remove the section
SponkleofInfini
19th of August, 2002, 17:48
So what say you on the writing of spells into spellbook. Do we have to pay to write in the spells.
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 17:54
I will allow you to add the spells you currently have memorised to your spell books free of charge (it will just take 10minutes/spell level). You can do this next time you set down for a while, you will need an inkpen and some ink however :)
As for the ones in your old spellbook you don't have memorised i'm gonna be mean and force you to find another copy of the spell :devious:
This may seem pretty nasty, and well I suppose it is, you are above average by a long shot but then again you have no equipment and that is fairly crippling for wizards :) I'm sure you will manage to be inventive enough to stay alive
Although if there are some official rulings for a situation such as this then I will take a look at it, just let me know where
SponkleofInfini
19th of August, 2002, 18:11
Thanks for letting us copy them in free of charge, the prepared ones that is :bored: . I guess we could ask the old man when we return if we copy could copy (insert spell list here) from his spellbooks etc.
I doubt there is an official rule set for a situation such as this :)
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 18:27
Yeah I based the freeness (after buying an inkpot and pen which is a few gp or something :) ) on the fact that from their studies Wizards get two free spells at each level. So it kind of made sense
You want to ask more from Rizeth? :) Dron seemed determined to milk the old man out of his house :D I'm sure if you hadn't all agreed he would have walked away with alot more stuff
Still this is just about the end of me railroading you, The first little bits were an attempt to force you together. The cell seemed to do opposite though :) So you have more choices now you are in the big wide world :)
Beidamon

(OOC: Mech is the dwarven word for Dragoon so there :P)
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 19:42
fear my mod powers :)
and no it isn't
Mech is a slang term used mainly by pilots to mean mechanist
those big mecha thingies are called Dragoons
It's annoying having to edit your popsts to correct them everytime you refer to a dragoon (which is almost every post :) )
SponkleofInfini
19th of August, 2002, 22:48
I guess I could ask him a favour.........ohwell.
SuperJosh
19th of August, 2002, 23:43
OK, I updated my Character sheet. I am assuming that since no mention has been made of Sy, my attack dog, it is roaming around Naies living the good life chasing rabbits and such. Let me know if I am wrong.
BigRedRod
19th of August, 2002, 23:57
well they didn't arrest him too :)
so yeah he is probably somewhere around Naies
SponkleofInfini
20th of August, 2002, 19:35
Just another question about spells. Do we have to have our spells prepared to write them into our newly aquired spellbooks or can we still cast the spells and write them into the book later free of cost. I ask cause the old man wants those crystals promptly.
BigRedRod
21st of August, 2002, 00:08
you need to have them prepared
So if you cast them you won't be able to record that spell in your book
Decisions, Decisions ... ;)
BigRedRod
21st of August, 2002, 05:20
Dust, you said you want to buy a pouch belt
Not 100% on what you mean there :P
I'm thinking Belt Pouch but I could be waaaay off :)
BigRedRod
21st of August, 2002, 22:46
wow that was some good plan-forming :)
Well done, it normally takes alot longer in PBPs or one player just grabs the lead
*rubs hands together*
that's it split up, and then I'll pick you off one by one
Muhahahahaha
and well done Beid for finally Saying Dragoon rather than Mech
SponkleofInfini
21st of August, 2002, 23:32

Dust

...
Actually I wanted a belt pouch :x-eyed:
BigRedRod
22nd of August, 2002, 04:03
glad I was confused there then and there wasn't such an item
Possibly it would be a belt that unfolds to make a pouch or something :)
Beidamon
22nd of August, 2002, 04:15

BigRedRod

Heh, well looks like the idea that the group would split has been thrown down :)

BigRedRod
23rd of August, 2002, 02:01
In future could people avoid just postingOOC comments in the IC hread
It bugs me
Just quote whatever your replying to and then put in your views
Although It is true what Dust says but really thats kind of part and parcel of the PBP experience :P It's nice to keep a game moving and although D&D (and other RPing) does need alot of IC communication, character and inter-character relationship development, it's hard to balance maintaining the game and development due to the speed
Although in this situation the characters have been all through alot recently, seperated from the links (no matter how small) to their lives by troops and rebels. So they are kind of clinging together, and people do weird stuff in weird circumstances
Although a wizard with no spells in his spellbook wanting to set off to complete their task is a little odd there are some good reasons behind his motivation and Durn just wants to go and poke the dragoons
Still it's defiently worth discussion, and you should feel free to slow down a little and develop characters not only by what they do. Then again it's up to you as players and your characters personalities :)
Dust
23rd of August, 2002, 04:44
Well said Rod. PBP has pitfalls, and this is one of them. But hey, there's no need to slow down the action. I don't mind if Dron thinks his companions are crazy
BigRedRod
24th of August, 2002, 04:54
i take it that Algerdar (i still have problems typing that for some reason :) ) and Durn also gave the little cash they got from the rebels to ensure they can pay for all that stuff
Sponkle, Beid, correct me if I am wrong here :)

so really posting that IC would have made more sense :\
There are going to a fair few problems, some will be very minor like this
others will be much much larger
But even if you find east how do you know which way town is? It is a concern of the group to get everyone going the right way down the road
SuperJosh

But i had a barbeque and a bit of a party
Proved to some crazy guy that just becuase it tastes like fruit juice doesnt mean it isn't lethal :)
Beidamon
27th of August, 2002, 09:22
hmm Im guessing we find out where town is by going up to the people and saying "Hey, wheres the town". I posted that here though because it was a OOC question to the DM, as for finding town ill just leave that to those who need to head to town ;)
SuperJosh
27th of August, 2002, 13:37
I know where town is now don't I?:fun: Besides interaction with PCs is a whole lot more fun than deductive reasoning, I did think about following the cart tracks but decided with my luck they would not lead to town.
As far as the beach, it was really more a river trip. My parents have a house where the Neuse River meets the Pamlico Sound (we just call it a beach house since it is 15 minutes from the beach) and we went sailing and tubing, so there was no sand involved. We did however grill chicken, shrimp and fish, and get swaggered Sat night.

And, as I forgot to say, it was my 1 year anniversary this weekend, so I spent the weekend glued to my wife and roleplaying was just not on the agenda (well at least not D&D;)). Things should be back to normal next weekend.

SuperJosh what was with the post in our character threads?
BigRedRod
5th of September, 2002, 17:05
I was wondering this myself
I'm thinking he had a couple to drink and ended up on these forums :)
Of course it could be some secret code or somesuch :)
Anyhow c'mon SuperJosh explain yourself :)
SuperJosh
5th of September, 2002, 17:53
I like to refer to the Character threads sometimes (for secret reasons;)) and was getting annoyed that I kept having to open a drop down box and click on "from the begining", since there had been no postes in any of them in the last 30 days. So I guess you could say..."bump" or that I raised them /\ (up). Sorry if this confused anyone, or pissed them off. Well if it pissed you of, good, serves you right for being so thin skinned, but if it confused, once again "sorry".
God how I wish beer had been involved... that sweet, brown nectar of the gods. The last couple of weeks have been long.
SponkleofInfini
5th of September, 2002, 18:05
There is an easy way to avoid such annoyance.
Go to your user settings/options whatever, but there is a similar drop down menu which you can set so all the forums you view go by that.
I know this is confusing explaination, just look around your user options and settings you will find it.
BigRedRod
5th of September, 2002, 18:17
dammit
How are you going to able to support my bar if you aren't getting enough alcohol down you now?
Sponkle is right though, just set your options so you view all threads
SuperJosh

I will be holding back as much as possible if this thing in the thickets attacks. Trying to preserve those prescious few spells I have to copy them into my spellbook for free **Continues to curse BRR for taking my spellbook away**.

W00t, Roth is happy.:)
Just an FYI, I finally found a job (it is only for 3 weeks, so that sux) so I might not be posting as often as I used to. I figure I can still post twice a day, before and after work. It should not have that much of an impact on my online life since I usually did not post during this time frame (3PM-12AM Eastern) since I was usually hangin' with the wife then (she is hating the schedule though).
This is not a prelude to me dissappearing, I just wanted to let people know what was going on in my RL.

BRR, have you heard from Beid yet? If not are you thinking of replacing him, or NPCing his PC, or just running with 3 characters?
BigRedRod
17th of September, 2002, 06:39
He says he doesn't feel motivated to play d&d right now
Next time i see him online i'll have another try at getting him in
if that fails i'll do a brief ad for a new character / player to use beids. I don't want to just leave him but at the same time I don't like forcing people to do things :P
If no-one picks up (it's a strnage little game so i wouldnt expect a replacement) i'll kill him off (he might noy die, but he will leave the group)
SuperJosh
17th of September, 2002, 07:05
It is different from your traditional game, but that makes it refreshing, plus you are a good DM which should go a long way. I do not think that you will have much trouble finding a new player. From what I have seen it seems like summer is a bad recruiting time because there are a lot of kids out of school starting their own games, but then when school starts up again they decide they do not have time to DM so they drop their games leaving a lot of players wanting a game. I know 2 of the games I used to play in had the DM quit on them, so you might have better luck getting a player now as opposed to this summer when you were looking for them.
BigRedRod
17th of September, 2002, 07:14

Really? To be honest I thought I was doing fairly badly :) Still thanks :)
You could be right, anyhow I don't just want to chuck Beid away, I'll try and talk him round but if he isn't interested i'll let him go and have a search for fresh blood
It is different from your traditional game, but that makes it refreshing,
It also ensures that people think i'm destroying D&D by incorperating things that shouldn't go there into it :) I'm sure they are gonna turn up with pitch-forks and torches trying to burn me as a heathen/witch :)

Black Plauge
24th of September, 2002, 00:09
Thank you for the welcome.
Yes my name does source itself from the black plague. However given my notoriously bad spelling when I first started using the handle I misspelled plague. When it was pointed out to me (I think it was by BRR), I looked it up and found that while my spelling was by no means the one in common usage it was listed as a variant spelling, albeit a very rare one. As such I have decided to keep it that way just because it is a normally easier to get this handle than the "properly" spelled one.

I was looking over the character sheet and I noticed that it seems to be in dire need of an update. However, I am having trouble figuring out what is supposed to be on it.
So far I have figured out that the Spellbook's contents need to be replaced by what is currently listed under spells memorized.
I know the Money value is incorrect but I am having trouble figuring out the correct amount, if anyone could advise me of it I would appreciate it.
Finally equipment, I think this list is correct, but I am not sure, if anyone could look it over and advise me I would appreciate it.

Skills are wrong too. He should have (2+6)*5=40 ranks/points. I add up his ranks and get 45. Those cross-classed skills at 2 ranks are actually costing him 4 skill points.

What are the rules for making skill checks?
In this case I want Durn to make a skill check on Knowledge (Dragoon) and Craft (Dragoon) for the utility of copper in making a Dragoon.
I know there is a little OOC knowledge there in relating copper to wires and such, but that is why I need to make the skill check, to determine if Durn knows these kind of things.
As for checking out the skills I will do this post haste so that accurate skill checks can be made.
Heads to go check his character sheet...
Comes back after doing so...
Actually I think the character was short ranks because those two pseudo ranks in Spot and Listen came from the Alertness feat granted by the familiar.
Anyway I fixed it now, including changing the modifiers to their correct values (INT was in the skills as a +7 while CON was a +1, neither of which is correct by the ability scores).
BigRedRod
25th of September, 2002, 20:21

Usage of Copper In Dragoons (as known by Durn)
Certain components are normally crafted from copper and copper alloys in a dragoon. However it isn't all that much, in comparrison to other materials only small amounts of copper are needed.
Copper could be used as a substitue for some of the other materials but it is likely it would create an inferior dragoon

Why would Dron give Durn the list? He was the one who walked away first.
Besides it wouldn't make much sense for a dwarf to go about buying lights for an underground adventure. They would be a luxury for him and who needs luxaries while adventuring. :P
SuperJosh
2nd of October, 2002, 11:00
I am pretty sure I walked away first to look for a smith with Durn. I told Dron he could tell Algerdar what we needed, then went after Durn. Then he walked ofter Durn also.He says to Dron and Algerdar. "Surely you can tell him what we need to see in the dark as well as I could. Come on Sy." With that he turns from the other two and jogs up to Durn to look for a smith with the dwarf, dog in tow.My post was meant to reflect Roth's excitement about getting a sword as well as his distaste for going back in the archer.
Dust

SuperJosh

Dron, Roth, Durn are looking for a smith. Algerdar is getting a crossbow and then a lightsource or two.
The confusion seems to come from my post when I left Dron and Algerdar. I am sorry about that as I said, Roth just did not want to go into the archer and would rather go search for a sword than a light.

I have this strange feeling that Durn's conversation with the barkeep is taking place in some kind of time dialation. I think I am going to have to wait for the others to catch up once it is over in order for the time line to make sense.
Any one else getting that feeling?
BigRedRod
15th of October, 2002, 05:30
good point
I lose sense of time when splitting the party
depending on what they do
it may be time to que them walking in
or you walking out and meeting up with them
or something
but less tsalking without a doubt :)
Black Plauge
15th of October, 2002, 09:18
At this point Durn is trying to use the barkeep to figure out if he has enough supplies for this expedition. If he thinks he does then he will go find the others, provided they haven't already found him.
If he thinks he doesn't then he will go to Archer's to get some more, then go find the others.
As for less talking, I don't think that is necessarily the solution becuase the others could eventually take actions that take longer and I wouldn't want them to be forced to wait while Durn's finishes the conversation to catch up.
Then again if one of them were to walk in during the conversation that had already been played out then it would be hard to insert them into the conversation.
Well, however you want to work it, its your call BRR. Durn just spoke so it is up to the barkeep to say or do something next (provided of course the conversation isn't interupted).

Well, first Durn will be getting a few things from Archer's. Then, he can rejoin the discussion about horses, whether that be at the market or elsewhere really isn't all that important.
Don't worry Sponkle, Ride can be used untrained. Although Algerdar might be sore afterwards.
SponkleofInfini
21st of October, 2002, 23:03
Tries to fathom the side effects of riding a horse for many hours untrained.........so you say going by horse back is quicker :)
SuperJosh
21st of October, 2002, 23:10
Durn said he would meet us in the market, so that is where Roth is going to head. Probably by the livestock. We can talk about the merits of horse ownership (or in Roths case Pony ownership) there.
Black Plauge
22nd of October, 2002, 06:59
Horseback will be much quicker, just not necessarily more comfortable.
And if its any consolation, Durn will probably be as sore as Algerdar after the ride.
Oh, and BRR, I took a little liberty in that last post in assuming that Archer would be behind the counter when Durn walked in given the other encounters with him in the store. Don't worry this doesn't translate into OOC knowledge, just trying to keep the story moving.

no probs black
I can deal with small assumptions like that
I'll let uyou know if they are false :)

Now there's a list for you. See if you can spot all the useful items.
BigRedRod
23rd of October, 2002, 07:36
Didn't you already buiy some ink?
Or was it just thje one pot between you?
SponkleofInfini
23rd of October, 2002, 08:57
I have already bought Ink; I thought Beid bought some for Durn also when he was still posting.
Black Plauge
23rd of October, 2002, 09:01
As far as I could tell only one ink and pen set were purchased and since they appear on your character sheet I concluded Durn didn't have any yet but had borrowed some from Rizeth or shared with Algerdar when placing spells into his new spellbook.
Thus I put it on my list so that each character would have a seperate set in case something happened. And really because I can't imagine a wizard that doesn't carry around pen and ink.
BigRedRod
23rd of October, 2002, 16:29
good point
I knew some ink was bought
But one between two can't really last for long
SuperJosh
24th of October, 2002, 03:25
Yep, only one vial of ink was purchased. I guess to a fighter or a rogue ink is much like dice are to a non-gamer. Why to you need two (vials of ink, or sets of dice)? Why can't you just share?
SponkleofInfini
24th of October, 2002, 09:42
Well we are in town now; to buy an ink and pen is inexpensive you might aswell get them now if you don't have them already.
Black Plauge
24th of October, 2002, 09:45
What do you think I am doing?
I am just waiting for Archer to get the things together and give me a price quote.
Then I will be joining youse guys over by the livestock.
BRR get a move on with Archer.
BigRedRod
24th of October, 2002, 16:21
hey just becuase you guys go for a post-a-thon while i'm asleep :)
I'll prolly squeeze one in after breakfast
SponkleofInfini
24th of October, 2002, 16:24
Bah.......sleep; highly over rated.
BigRedRod
24th of October, 2002, 17:12
ok
I have had about 5 hours today
And a lot to drink (as you may know, I'm fairly certain I was rambling at you when I got back to my room)
It makes posting a bad idea
I think 'm up to the challenge now though :)
Black Plauge

I am aware of the consuamte costs in scroll creation. I just can't see a wizard settling for low quality parchement. If you are going to buy some it should be good enough to use for any purpose, including scroll creation.
Also I just thought I would make sure on the quiver issue. Crossbow bolts much shorter than arrows so a quiver for one wouldn't work very well for the other.
BigRedRod
25th of October, 2002, 02:56
fair enough
I'm just ensuring everyone is clear on what is being bought here :)
BigRedRod

Ok
I'm off home his weekend, so for the next day or two any posting from me is unlikely

30th of October, 2002, 05:59
Well it seems we have a choice between ponies at 30gp a head + 5gp for the tack and feed or light horses for 75gp a head + 10gp for the tack and feed.
I don't know about you guys but Durn would prefer a pony based on size considerations. Maybe we should try for two of each on those grounds.
SponkleofInfini
30th of October, 2002, 08:49
Well I would also prefer a pony, being even smaller then Durn it would be far easier to ride a pony then a horse :).
I don't know if I even have enough for the pony, I may need to borrow from the kitty.
SuperJosh
30th of October, 2002, 09:36
Roth would prefer a horse, unfortunatly he only has money for a pony. That is why he wants to wait. He feels that a pony would be a watse of money and also a blow to his pride.
BTW BRR was Roth able to tell anything about the horses? I am waiting on word one way or the other before I post. Thanks.

sorry I overlooked that
I'll edit

Insulting the merchant Dust?
What kind of negotiating tactic is that?
SponkleofInfini
30th of October, 2002, 17:46
Diplomacy skills these days are a little lacking huh :)
Black Plauge
31st of October, 2002, 10:42
It seems that Dron and Durn have very diffrent ideas on how to conduct negotiations huh?
Of course Durn doesn't really know how effective Dron can be since he wasn't their when Dron negotiated with Archer.
Shall we see how things pan out?
SponkleofInfini
31st of October, 2002, 13:07
Yep, sure thing.
Black Plauge
2nd of November, 2002, 03:36
Okay, BRR, I hope that was a typo. 315 is higher than the quoted price for four horses. Did you possible mean 215?
BigRedRod

no they found i'm not perfect

I'm melting
Yeah it was a stupid mistake I made

No harm done. I just didn't want to respond until I was sure what the offer was.
BigRedRod
2nd of November, 2002, 06:24
it's the best way :)
Black Plauge
2nd of November, 2002, 06:47
Presumably.
Counter offer is in. I hope no one minds Durn taking the lead in these negotiations (Dron excepted since he left :P).
Remind me to take some ranks in diplomacy when we level up. Assuming of course we last the long. :paranoid:
Black Plauge
3rd of November, 2002, 10:53
Well unless some one else speaks up Durn is going to accept this offer.
Just to be clear:
2 ponies, 2 horses, 4 riding saddles, 4 bits and briddles, and 8 rations of feed have been offered for 215gp.
That works out to
25gp/pony
62.5gp/horse
10gp/set of tack (both saddle and bit & briddle)
and 4sp worth of feed for free.
PHB prices for these are
30gp/pony
75gp/horse
and 12gp/set of tack (10gp for the saddle and 2gp for the bit & briddle)
If there are any objections to taking the offer speak now.
SuperJosh

Okay, my character sheet is updated.
Don't forget to deduct monetary amounts, I listed the contribution from each character in my last post to avoid confusion.

BRR: I do not know exactly what Cy can and can not do (like guard, for instance), so if I ever overstep the bounds let me know.
Dust: I did not describe the horse besides the fact that she was a mare so you could decribe her as you want to. Heck make her a stallion for all I care, I know how o use the edit button.:)
SuperJosh
7th of November, 2002, 01:11
Sorry Sponkle, I think in this case Roth's player is the fool.:)
I just missed that part of your post for some reason. I guess I need to go back to grade school and learn to read again.

SuperJosh
7th of November, 2002, 11:02
Just for the record BRR, Roth did not say the part about the goblins defending there homes out loud, he thought it.
Roth decided that it might be... unwise to even hint that the miners brought this on themselves by invading another creatures home.

Looking through the other posts, I see that others have done that in the past, so I should have picked up on it, but like I said... beer.
BigRedRod
8th of November, 2002, 22:56
yep :)
There are only two beers i've so far found that I can drink
1 - Kirin (it's Japanese so it's a light beer but it's drinkable)
2 - Raspberry beer with some name I no longer know

My next series of posts are going to ask about the caverns that have been found. During the course of those posts I am going to assume that Durn, as a dwarf, has at least a passing familiarity with cave formation and such. If you don't want me to assume this, BRR, then let me know and I will change things around.
