View Full Version : Dresden files: Las Vegas

I’m looking to run a Dresden files game with 3-4 players preferably 4. I'd like to set it in Vegas and build it using the city creation rules. But I’m open to other suggestions. In the Vegas i have in mind the white council has very little influence, making it largely a vampire run city.
I also want to make it a Dresdenless files game having it set after the events of Blood Rites but having Dresden die during the events of Death Mask.
I'd like players to have a decent knowledge of the books but as it's a branch off storyline it's not hugely necessary.
Any questions and opinions I'd like to hear.

What Power Level is it set at? If it's Submerged, I can send you a sheet for a wizard that I had intended to use as an NPC in The Unseen Files before the campaign info was wiped.

I was thinking chest deep to submerged. If people really want to do submerged. I'm fine with that.

Good to know.
I'll get my stuff to you as soon as possible.

I'm interested. Probably play the same sort of Fae I had been thinking about using for Cooper's game.
What do you want from people at the moment?

A bit more about my PC: she's a reclusive wizard, the White Council's new black sheep (particularly since Dresden snuffed it), who moved to Las Vegas for the very reason that the Council has very little presence in the city.
Edit!: Oh course, I will have to consider whether I can properly keep up with such a game. I am, after all, working on getting my setting information up on A.E., and am further working on my future Marvel or Vampire campaign.
If I can't manage it, I will have to withdraw, but if I can, I'll send my stats on over.

kwl tahtle be great vooper. and understandable about the work load.
Characterwise i'd like just the bullet points for now. who they are what they are what they do. a gigh concept would be a good thing for other players to see.

-Cardsharp Cowboy Wizard
-White Council Wizard. Not a Warden or anything, just a regular member.
-Gambler, and fairly good at it.
-Owns a ranch.
-Main aims are taking care - normal care and supernatural care - of his ranch and the surrounding area, employing magic to make it prosperous, and travelling to Vegas to gamble.
-Earth and Water magic, most likely.
There's more detail but these are just the basic bullet points. Could also make him a focused practitioner, but would prefer him to be a wizard.

Is it too late to get in on this?
High Concept: Spoiled daughter of a Dead Thunder God (Perun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perun), not Thor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor))
Has a bunch of lightning/minor deity themed IoP's (Mainly an axe, but there's apples and stuff as well)
Battling her brothers and other similar creatures/people to keep said items.
Trying to ressurect her father and his religion without drawing too much of the wrong attention to the mystical world. And maybe get herself some actual deityhood along the way.
Have awesome adventures doing good to questionable, but not evil deeds that bards will speak of for years to come.
Or I can also do a paleontologist college student were-Veloci-raptor.
As an aside I have the books and a basic concept of the rules, but still not that great. But I'm a fast learner if people (politely) point out my mistakes.

I hope to still run this yes.
So would she be wizard templet or emissary of power?

Emissary of Power with something like 'Channeling: Lightning and Thunder' probably.

Any chance that there's still a spot open? I'd love to weigh in with either a wizard or an Emissary of Power.

Monster:
I like the concept of your emissary of power but \I have to keep in mind that Odin exists so ican assume thor exists adn from what i read on the wiki link Perun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perun) basicly sounds liek a post Ragnarok Thor.
Interesting idea alot of potential stoies in that but i have to admit im a little warey of the emissery of power template. It will require allot of discusion between me adn you adn some of the other player to find a fair contract for the concept.
as to you other concept: the paleontologist were-Veloci-raptor. I LOVE that. the dificulty is giving you a reason to be in vegas and stay in vegas. Still lets discuss.
Mister blaze:
There is a place id like 4 players adn i have three potential so far.
The thing about Emissarys fo power that i said apply also ring true here. we need to clerify what it means to be an emisary and what the contract is. Wizards are fine but be mindfull My Vegas is a vampire ruled city the story will start with the wizards and vamps being in an uneasy peace. But vamps arnet known to be too trust worthy.

Hi Haraphen,
Decided I might go with a wizard after all. And I'm happy to play in a setting with the vampires and White Council in an uneasy truce. It adds a little spice to things to be in a kind of supernatural Cold War.
High Concept: Errant Wizard of the White Council
- Black Sheep of a White Council. He's no Harry Dresden. There's no Sword of Damocles hanging over his head. But he comes from a line of wizards who have fallen into disrepute (and were recently destroyed under suspicious circumstances) and he's been tarred with the same brush. No one wants him dead, but he's going to have to prove to them that he's not like everyone suspects the others were.
- He's in Vegas because it's so show-businessy that he doesn't have to work quite so hard at hiding what he is. It's nice not to have to be on your guard all the time. And because it's easier not to have to deal with the White Council when it doesn't have a major presence there. It's also kind of fun and who doesn't like a little fun in their lives?
- Air, Fire and Spirit magic most likely.
Any problems with the above?

Wondering if the people who showed interest in the game before are still interested?

Sorry, after two weeks of silence lost track of this! And yeah, Perun is like a thor/Odin combination and one of the complications would fighting off(well, more realistically, hiding from) other, similar deities (who can take her stuff and absorb her power)
As for the paleontologist, they could just be interning at the las vegas museum or something, helping set up dino bones while partying at night ;)

Thanks for the reply monster.
I wanted 4 but I'd be fine with three. It should allow all you're characters Ti have the full nber of aspects if you players are fine with just 3 I think we can try and get characters down a little more solid
