A 7th level Weapon Master with a keen mercurial greatsword and the Improved Critical feat can do 10d8 + 5x any modifiers with a roll of 16-20. THAT'S how a melee character lives at epic levels.
A quickened limited wish and disentigrate cast in the same round means instant pile of dust -- guarantee void in Tenesee.
No one in the world buys or uses soap, yet they whine about a troglodyte being around them.

Even though it's a simple weapon, a morningstar is one of the best choices in the game. It requires no feats (For any class that even considers melee), it's type combination can get the best of anything, it's cheap, and it's powerful (For a medium-size weapon). Take the Power Attack and Weapon Focus paths, and you've got an extremely deadly weapon that's cheap and easily available. To top it off, in RL a half dozen pounds of spikey steel on a stick is really cool.
